Yorgelis Salazar
Yorgelis Salazar (born 10 November 1997)[1] is a Venezuelan karateka. She won the silver medal in the women's 50 kg event at the 2022 World Games held in Birmingham, United States.[1][2] She won one of the bronze medals in the women's 50 kg event at the 2023 World Karate Championships held in Budapest, Hungary.[3] CareerIn June 2021, Salazar competed at the World Olympic Qualification Tournament held in Paris, France hoping to qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.[4] She was eliminated in her second match by Jana Messerschmidt of Germany.[4] In November 2021, Salazar was eliminated in her first match in the women's 50 kg event at the World Karate Championships held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.[5] Salazar won the silver medal in the women's 50 kg event at the 2022 Bolivarian Games held in Valledupar, Colombia.[6] She also won the silver medal in the women's team kumite event.[6] In 2023, she won one of the bronze medals in the women's 50 kg event at the World Karate Championships held in Budapest, Hungary.[3] She defeated Aika Okazaki of Japan in her bronze medal match.[3] A week later, Salazar won the gold medal in her event at the 2023 Pan American Games held in Santiago, Chile.[7][8] Achievements
