Abi and RyudenBoth won Sansho in their makuuchi debut - I assume we want to create these? Anyone working on them? --Pawnkingthree (talk) 15:13, 28 January 2018 (UTC)
suggestion on the career record tablesThere are currently 4 used colors in those tables: retirement, lower division, 2nd place, and winner. I suggest adding another one for the best rank up to that point, since for rikishi with long careers it is useful to see how long ago did that person was at his best, especially when that person never won a tournament. 79.116.217.141 (talk) 08:34, 3 February 2018 (UTC) AbiSo I put up an Abi article, surprised no one beat me to it with all the attention around him. Take a look when you have minutes. If we follow the original criteria (which I might repost) the next best candidate with his juryo championship. FourTildes (talk) 05:00, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
Gyōji, dohyō, and the ShinpanA few months ago I did a lot of research into gyōji, dohyō, and the shinpan so I'm going to be going over those articles very soon and adding in what I've found to help enhance them. I've already updated the gyōji article with what I've found. So those are my main sumo projects right now. Popapop2 talk 22:38, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks! Always happy to help. Popapop2 talk 02:53, 4 May 2018 (UTC) CannabisThere's a nice new article on the 2008 cannabis scandal - courtesy of WikiProject Cannabis's 420 Collaboration.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 14:14, 4 May 2018 (UTC) Harumafuji-Takanoiwa incidentThe above entry does make me think that at some point we will need a separate article about the whole Harumafuji-Takanoiwa business. I was wondering what the title should be. Tigerboy1966 20:34, 11 June 2018 (UTC) HanakazeAs we have some recent articles on wrestlers notable (?) for things other than their success (Orora, Wakaichiro),I wonder if there is room for Hanakaze Daisaku, who has, I believe set a couple of longevity records (longest career, most basho). He is 48 now so it should not take too much updating. Tigerboy1966 13:18, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
I would LOVE to have a Hanakaze article. He's the longest serving rikishi EVER. And the only one older than me. :) When he passed longest serving mark, I wanted to make the article, but I just didn't have the time or perhaps even more the inclination I used to. I can absolutely dig up a pic for it; I take one every time I see him. I see he has a ja wiki article. I often source my rikishi article from the Japanese sources. Actually, I feel like I should make the time for him. I will try to put up an article TOMORROW! Let me have this one if I may! FourTildes (talk) 10:59, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
I held off because I had no picture, and because sourcing is my least favorite wiki chore - but I just remembered him and figured I would get his article up and worry about the picture this coming September. Here he is, enjoy Hanakaze Daisaku FourTildes (talk) 10:24, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
DaishohoThere's a recently created article on juryo rikishi Daishoho Kiyohiro that has been moved to draftspace at Draft:Daishoho Kiyohiro due to being undersourced. I'll work on it but if anyone can add some secondary sources (there must be some Japanese press coverage) that would be a great help. He has a good chance of making makuuchi after this tournament so notability is not a problem.-- Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:07, 9 January 2019 (UTC) MeiseiI'm getting Meisei Chikara done and will post soon. Tigerboy1966 18:35, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
Basho ArticlesIs that acceptable, or would they just be deleted? I would like to help write them. Royal Autumn Crest (talk) 00:57, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
WakaichiroOur page on Wakaichiro states that he was born in Houston, Texas, giving a citation that consists of an interview with the subject. However, he only says he was raised in Houston. Looking around online, I find no RS that gives this information, and though I did find one discussion board post that stated definitively that he was born in Japan, it was just the proverbial 'something I found on the internet'. This has BLP implications, and more trivially, affects in which section he is placed on the List of non-Japanese sumo wrestlers page. Agricolae (talk) 03:52, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
New rikishi articlesI am creating a Shimanoumi Koyo article in sandbox as he is the highest ranked rikishi without an article. He only has 2 kk but he is likely to be in makuuchi for a while and is a 2 time juryo champion. Should be up by Monday. Tigerboy1966 16:16, 20 July 2019 (UTC)
I just finished Enhō, should've checked here first, but its seems I got lucky. Even if he is new to Makuuchi he certainly fits the category of popularity etc. FourTildes (talk) 07:11, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
Certainly. Thanks for thinking of it. :) FourTildes (talk) 20:17, 24 July 2019 (UTC)
