Good day, this is a courteous message to inform Ultraviolet's maintainers and users that:
Implemented: Revision and improvement to the body text in the warning message for {{Uw-copyright-new}}, included in the standard installation of Ultraviolet.
Not sure. : This should only affect Ultraviolet, and its users, if the boldtext parameter is used. In such a case, string of text in |boldtext=string of text may no longer function as expected as the body text at {{Uw-copyright-new/body}} has changed. But it seems it would be used more by users who would add the template manually.
Checked: Checked testcases and tried implementation with Twinkle in as many ways as possible. Functioning as expected.
Not sure. : Implementation with Ultraviolet as I have no experience with Ultraviolet.
Hi, can you add {{AIV Notice}} to the list of available warning templates, you could also put an option to give this warning on the report to AIV screen. This way whenever you reported someone to AIV through Ultraviolet you could easily leave a notice on their talk page. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CCWikiMan (talk • contribs) 08:33, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi, @CCWikiMan! I don't see widespread use of {{AIV Notice}} (I see only 11 hits), nor its inclusion at WP:UWT, which is our usual minimum before adding new warnings. Personally, I don't see this template to be that useful, considering we should probably just WP:DENY if someone's reached enough warnings to warrant reporting to AIV. Please do confer this first with WT:UWT, or start relevant discussions to have the template added as part on our processes in WT:VAND or WT:AIV, and we may reconsider this. Examples of what it does
The project page seems to assume that folks know what it’s like to use Ultraviolet. For potential new users, is it possible to add a couple of examples of what happens when you run it? Would it ping me whenever any possible vandalism happens across Wikipedia? Would I limit it to watch specific editors and/or pages and/or categories? Does it limit itself to my watchlist? Apologies for newbie questions, especially if they’re already answered somewhere obvious. --Northernhenge (talk) 18:14, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
@TheTechie: This tends to happen sometimes when using RedWarn. We're still unsure as to what exactly is causing it. I'll file a task for this on Phabricator to keep track of these reports. Chlod (UV • say hi!) 02:08, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
On second thought, we don't have a Phabricator project for RedWarn issues, since RedWarn is mostly in a "security updates only" state. I'll keep track of this locally instead, and will update you if anything new comes up. Chlod (UV • say hi!) 02:12, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi! I installed ultraviolet 2 days ago, it was working fine; I even performed an action about 2 hours ago. But, now somehow Ultraviolet isn't loading and I was unable to visit any Wikipedia pages (except Wikipedia:Ultraviolet/Install and Wikipedia:Ultraviolet/Install/Easy); After while loading browser displayed an Error message. The problem was solved once I uninstalled Ultraviolet. Please fix the problem and let me know when its ready again to be used. 𝓥𝓮𝓼𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷24𝓑𝓲𝓸 (ᴛᴀʟᴋ) 04:35, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
@Vestrian24Bio: This is not an issue related to Ultraviolet, but an issue with your browser or computer. RESULT_CODE_KILLED indicates that the Microsoft Edge process handling the tab for Wikipedia was killed, either by you, a task manager, an anti-virus, or some other process on your computer. We are unable to provide further assistance for this, but if it's not an issue anymore, then it shouldn't be required anyway. Chlod (UV • say hi!) 11:54, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi. I've been using UV for some time now and would like to request a simple feature: Do not file reports at AIV or UAA when another report of the same user is present. This feature will be similar to how Twinkle aborts such requests. It will be helpful for reducing clutter on the report pages. Thanks! Hi @CanonNi, thanks for the feedback! I've added you as a subscriber to T341107 where this is currently being tracked.
I am Suggesting that Ultraviolet (and RedWarn also) should be moved to somewhere else on the page. Because, They are causing layout inconsistency in pages with multiple topicons (like this & this; there are many more pages like these). My suggestion would be placed in the right corner of Article titles (Just like how it appears on Special pages, i.e: Special:Contributions etc.). 𝓥𝓮𝓼𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷24𝓑𝓲𝓸 (ᴛᴀʟᴋ) 07:41, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
@Vestrian24Bio: I don't see much of an inconsistency here; the icons show up right next to the topicons, seamlessly blending in. Is this related to the sizing of the icons? Chlod (UV • say hi!) 07:13, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
No, It's the text "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" which is currently split into two lines, but, if it continues to go on it could be split more, and even the topicons could be split. 𝓥𝓮𝓼𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷24𝓑𝓲𝓸 (ᴛᴀʟᴋ) 16:16, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
@Vestrian24Bio: Considering the large majority of pages you'll need to use Ultraviolet with don't have an egregious amount of topicons, this does not appear to be a significant issue. We won't change the position of the icons just because two of your userpages (and perhaps some other user pages on-wiki) appear slightly off because of their placement.
