History![]() Wakimoto Station opened on November 8, 1914, as a station on the Japanese Government Railways (JGR) serving the village of Wakimoto.[1] JGR became JNR (Japanese National Railways) after World War II. With the privatization of JNR on April 1, 1987, the station came under the control of JR East.[1] It has been unattended since April 2011.[citation needed] Passenger statisticsIn fiscal 2009, the station was used by an average of 205 passengers daily (boarding passengers only).[2] The passenger figures for previous years are as shown below.
