November 2006 December 2006 January 2007 February 2007 March 2007 Disturbed genreHello. I've reverted your edits to Disturbed, since discussion about the genre has already took place, and any changes to the article regarding this topic should be argued and reference before any changes are made. I just wanted to let you know, and invite you to join, or more reopen, the existing discussion. - - 'twsx'talk'cont' 00:33, 26 October 2006 (UTC) Disturbed? Metal? Hah! Vegetaman 05:33, 5 January 2007 (UTC) Help!!!{{helpme}}
Well, i got a problem, i helped to develop a page on Mallcore. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mallcore). But everyday, different people with no talk page come and erase stuff that are useful (trivia, pictures, etc...) and do not post anything on the talk page. When a member actually had a talk page, I sent him/her a message. However there was no reply... I do not know how to put the vandalism thing, but i do not know if there is another way of solving the problem... My other problem is that I have somewhat of an argument with an editor over the Disturbed page. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disturbed). There is definite disagreement about the band's musical genre. However the article states that the band is Heavy Metal (which i, as well as many people throughout the word, disagree). I wrote a statement that informed the reader of the disagreement (you can check the history and the discussion page of the article). However, twice (or three times, can't remember) this statement was erased and a very stubborn editor argumented that what i was saying was wrong and that what i wrote degraded the band's reputation. I then put a tag for factual accuracy and a tag for neutrality. It was erased by the same stubborn member, and i re put the tags and stated my reasons on the discussion page. However i still think that this member is going to erase them... could you help me? Thank you in advance, Zouavman Le Zouave 18:20, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
RE: Help!!!Hello, this is the "stubborn member". I think the problem is divided into 2 things:
About problem one. This question has been discussed on the talkpage. Arguments were exchanged, and references were added, giving sources from people who know more about metal music than either of us. Two, should it be mentioned? No, why? There are dozens, or hundreds of bands where people do not agree about the genre. So how is it solved? People discuss it, mention sources, and change the article into whatever came up from that discussion. A bands article is supposed to give the closest information possible. If there is a very common point of view saying there are critics or a disagreement, it is fair to say so in the article. This is not the case in this article. Also I would like to remind any authority reading this to have a look at mister Zouavman Le Zouaves contribution history, it clearly shows that he or she is more on a personal crusade enforcing his opinion rather than making articles better. For me, he or she shall absolutely make Mallcore or Music that i hate or I hate that band Disturbed and at such articles write as many things about Disturbed as he or she wants, but definitely not in reverse. I hope this will make things more clear. Stop filling the article with malicious defamations or adding tags (no matter if anonymous or logged in), that is all that i care about. What is now written in the article is based on what people think who are superior to you, me, or an admin, such as the Rolling Stone Magazine (arguably) and Ozzy Osbourne (inarguably). PS: As you can see above on this discussion page, i did try to talk to you. - - 'twsx'talk'cont' 19:44, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
There is a very common point of view saying that Disturbed musical genre is not metal, but sources vary saying that it is either: "pseudo-metal", "pseudo-rock", "crap", "mallcore", and others... In an encyclopedia I think that Mallcore is the most appropriate term. I am not changing the genre, i am just stating the point of view of many people. The reason that they do not come on this page is that they probably got better to do than deal with the reputation of bands that they do not consider metal. If you want sources, i can find some. And how do you dare make assumptions about my intentions on Wikipedia judging from my contribution history? I do not hate "that band Disturbed". I actually think their music has certain qualities which makes them popular for a good reason. I do listen to "10,000 Fists in the Air" and quite appreciated it. However, I would not consider them Heavy Metal. Please note that I did not take any party on the statement made on the Disturbed article. I only stated the disagreement. On the other hand, you are a known Disturbed fan and you have reasons for considering any criticism to them "malicious defamations". Now I did not deny the fact that Ozzy considered them "Heavy Metal", but I stated that many people (who probably know more about metal than either of us) also do not consider them Heavy Metal (or Hard Rock by that same occasion). Again, i do not appreciate the way you say "Mister Zouavman Le Zouave" or declare that i am on a "personal crusade to enforce my opinion". Nothing permits you to do so. And you shall not tell me what articles i shall or may create/edit. Nothing forbids me to edit the Wikipedia Articles unless what i am doing is destructive, which is definitely not the case. Zouavman Le Zouave 20:16, 30 October 2006 (UTC) Hi, are you planning on answering the messages on my talk page? I left you my email like this its easier for both of us. --Zouavman Le Zouave 07:38, 2 November 2006 (UTC) I can't remember to have been asked a question that i need to reply to. I think i made myself and my point clear throughout this and the articles discussion. Added you on MSN by the way. - - 'twsx'talk'cont' 15:47, 2 November 2006 (UTC) I removed it because it is not an "Emo themed" store. Emo is a genre of music that has been pretty much dead for the past 10 years. --Inhumer 01:13, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Disturbed referenceHey there. I just seen the two edits of User:PhantomOTO adding the {{fact}} tag and you removing it. Alltho this certainly was the correct move, i was wondering if you could find a suitable external reference for this sentence. By suitable, i mean something that is not bogus and insulting (which is why i didn't want mallcore named in there in the first place) but something that states this fact from a neutral point of view. Quite frankly, i am too lazy to dig thru all the sources you provided in the discussion before we settled this, but i just thought maybe you have something useful right at hand without too much work. If not, or if you are as lazy as i am, then just leave it, it's not THAT important. :D - - 'twsx'talk'cont' 00:39, 18 December 2006 (UTC) What happened? I thought we were going to work for a consensus, but you either haven't checked the page, or refuse to acknowledge my last statement. I think I've proposed a perfectly reasonable edit. PhantomOTO 17:49, 21 December 2006 (UTC) AarniGreat work on the Aarni article. I had it on my to-do list, but I'm glad you got there first as mine would've been a lot shorter. It's as simple as that. Just keep checking back on the page to see what needs to be done. And don't worry about the layout of your page. Mine is a much bigger mess, due to the irregular formation of the userboxes! :) By the way, I made a small grammatical edit to your userpage. Hope that's ok! In Flames 19:39, 11 November 2006 (UTC) You're welcome! I hate all this rubbish nu-metal/metalcore as well. Some time ago, on the List of Heavy Metal genres page, I kept moving the nu-metal and metalcore sections to the "related" part of the article, to show they are related to metal (yeah right!), but not real metal. Unfortunately someone kept reverting my edits so I gave up. The sources I can think of are websites like http://www.metalreview.com where lots of people bash nu-metal/metalcore CD's, and the http://www.DarkLyrics.com forum, where people insult bands like Avenged Sevenfold etc. Unfortunately, I don't think this validates - as Wikipedia demands proper sources, like reviews from Professional critics. Another source would be http://www.metal-archives.com, where the website doesn't accept terrible "mallcore" bands. I don't see how bands like KoRn and Slipknot are considered metal, when they don't play solos, have simple song structures, scream incessantly, have hip-hop influences in it (!) and rap as part of vocals. Bah. In Flames 22:21, 11 November 2006 (UTC) "The last part of the introduction of the Disturbed article really disturbs me" - nice pun :) The genre of Avenged Sevenfold is annoying as well. By the way, what do you consider "mallcore"? I never use the term myself, but I assume you mean Nu-metal and Metalcore - generic MTV metal. However, do you like other types of rock? Marilyn Manson - extreme black metal?! Not only is the word "extreme" redundant (as black metal IS an extreme genre anyway), but I find it hard to call Cradle of Filth black metal, let alone EXTREME black metal, let alone call Marilyn Manson metal. I think we could try and find other Wikipedians who would be willing to tweak the genres of some bands, but the majority will probably demand sources anyway. Can your gmail address be used with MSN messenger? Oh, by the way I am a teenager. So not all of us love nu-metal/metalcore :) In Flames 00:27, 12 November 2006 (UTC) Blocking IPI am on a computer in a school where all computers apparently use the same internet line... Hiya thereHi ZlZ. I've just seen you editing Casablanca recently and as i've never seen you before over here i came to your userpage. I m very pleased to see someone hailing from Casablanca over here. So welcome to wikipedia and if you need any help please do not hesitate to contact me as i am an admin. By the way, i see that you are a profesional musician and again i am pleased to get to know a musician over here. Myself i am part of an amateur rock/haiha band in Casablanca named "CikatriZ". Maybe we can play together a song someday! Keep in touch. -- Szvest Wiki me up ® 11:09, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
I see that CikatriZ and Bassilik have some points in common ^^. We have a really good drummer, but we hardly got any time to practice, so I doubt he will have time to work with two separate bands. But I'm sure we can find a way to play together. What instrument(s) do you play? As you may have already read in my profile, I'm the guitarist and singer of Bassilik, although I'm a very bad singer (not that I'm a good guitarist either)... I'm pretty influenced by Nirvana's songs, although I would sometimes wish we had more band members in order to do more complex music. Have you heard of Fantômas? They're a really good band (in my opinion, at least). If you guys are planning any concerts this winter, we would be glad to play a little song or two for the occasion ^^ --Zouavman Le Zouave 21:14, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Please do not contribute to edit wars in the Fred Durst articleWe've had far too many edit wars already over the classification of bands. I'm not going to stand for another one. Whether or not Slipknot is metal, it's close enough for most average readers, even if metal fans disagree. Leave it be. - Stick Fig 22:35, 12 December 2006 (UTC) Orphaned fair use image (Image:Aarnilogo.jpg)Thanks for uploading Image:Aarnilogo.jpg. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy). If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. The program is indeed a place where users can go and leave a message informing everyone that they're stressed, and why. Then other users may see the message and go and offer the stressed user support and encouragement. It's a wonderful program centered around the concept of WikiLove. Happy editing! -- P.B. Hi there. I just wanted to let you know that I've reverted your edit to the No Doubt article since Template:Infobox musical artist recommends comma-separated lists. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them at my talk page. —ShadowHalo 02:29, 15 January 2007 (UTC) Your pageHi, you might consider adding a tag at the top of your user page that clarifies that it is a user page and not an article. Also, what's with the "new message" template at the top of the talk page? It's misleading and there is no comment anywhere that indicates it's a joke...--Dmz5*Edits**Talk* 03:59, 15 January 2007 (UTC) Thanks for the welcomeHi Zouavman Le Zouave, thanks for welcoming me to Wikipedia. As I said.. read the policy. Wikipedia sometimes allows promotional images, but specific things have to be adheered to before this can be allowed A) the owners of the image and or the company of each has to be stated (so people are able to review whether the image is viable for use) B) full rationales have to be added, C) source of where it was found, etc, etc... What are you talking about? I replied to you the other day... you really need to learn the policy stated in Wikipedia:External links.
Hahahaha. Is this a joke? EMers adding the link violative website they are members of to an article which gets a lot of traffic isn't "spamming"?... again you are completely ignoring the policy to suit yourself. - Deathrocker 20:59, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Warning about your userpage and subpagesHello Zouavman Le Zouave, I came across your userpage and noticed that you had a lot of stuff there that shouldn't be there. You have too many subpages that contain either irrelevant information, attacks against other people or groups of people, redirects to other supbpages, or information which is already in your main userpage or could be merged into your main userpage. See What can I not have on my user page for further information. More specifically heres a list of things that are wrong with your userpage:
All the above subpages I listed should be deleted, if you don't think so, read What can I not have on my user page. To delete all the subpages I listed in violation of Wikipedia policy and guidelines add: {{db-userreq}} to the top of the subpages that need to be deleted. Generally, you should avoid substantial content on your user page that is unrelated to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a general hosting service, so your user page is not a personal homepage. Your page is about you as a Wikipedian. Please delete the problem subpages I listed above and thanks in advance for your cooperation. --Leon Sword 04:00, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
You have new messages (last change).I just wanted to let you know that this fake banner is annoying. I thought I had new messages, and I don't. While this may seem really funny, it has been done for to long by to many people, and is really just a waste of time. HighInBC(Need help? Ask me) 04:54, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
I never understood the point of this thing. What do you get out of it? There's no counter for you to view, to see how many people have fallen for it, so you don't even get to witness the "joke" taking place (unless people sign the page, which evidently you have to beg them to do [1][2]). All it really does is annoy n00bs without giving any satisfaction to anyone. If that's comedy, I don't get it. Kafziel Talk 12:53, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
ReplyThanks for cleaning up your userpage. The Deranged page apparently got deleted by someone else before I could even warn you about it. The userbox subpage is okay, it's just that most people put more than one userbox on the subpage so that they don't clutter up their main page. By the way you wouldn't happen to like Soilwork would you? --Leon Sword 00:56, 16 March 2007 (UTC) Heavy Metal slangAre you sure Grindcore has been referred to as mallcore? Inhumer 19:57, 26 March 2007 (UTC) RapcoreIt would not be very reasonable to have rapcore on the template. Rapcore, or rap metal, is very closely linked to nu metal (apart from some artists), and since nu metal is already on the template, it is almost useless to add rapcore to the list. Also, rapcore is relatively small compared to the other subgenres of metal listed on the template. Please try to discuss the issue if you feel it should go any farther. Zouavman Le Zouave (Talk to me!) 15:05, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
I would be able to help you, but as I said earlier, not all rapcore artists are part of the nu metal movement. I think that rapcore is distinct enough from nu metal to have its own article, but not to have its place on the template. Again this is only my opinion. If you really want to propose a merge between the two articles, I could probably help you set it up, but if I was to give my opinion, I would probably disagree with the merge of rapcore in nu metal.
