Not to mention that full protection seems overdoing things for a template that is transcluded on less than 20 pages and does not pertain to any "hot-item" content. Debresser (talk) 11:44, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
Whether or not I had to include text...I edited one image with "noinclude," but later reverted my own edit because the padlock disappeared on the original edit. After those two edits, the image did not appear in the category. On the last three images, I simply did not enter text but simply clicked on "Save page." Since then, the category is empty. Willking1979(talk)17:34, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
I've learned my lesson...thou shalt not put text on null edits. There is no such thing as a perfect admin...I learn as I go and go as I learn. :) Willking1979(talk)22:44, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
yes it will be a doppelganger account My brother wants to create anccount but he wants to use Dcheagels for his user name and i dont want that so i would like to great this account to keep him from doing. I just dont want edits to be confused between mine and his account. I will try the links you have giving me.--Dcheagle (talk) 20:00, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
Just FYI, this account, which you created today, triggered an autoblock. I've lifted the autoblock, assuming in good faith that you believe this user should have an account. But you might want to take a look just to be on the safe side. Mangojuicetalk18:42, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
I looked at it earlier today and emailed the blocking admin about the situation. While I had concerns about this account, I went ahead, AGF'd, and created the account. I will monitor the account very closely. Willking1979(talk)18:52, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
Gracias, amigo.' Always nice to have access to an admin for stuff like this. Keeps me from having to go through that baptism by fire myself. I'll just stick to writing articles. Acdixon(talk • contribs • count)14:13, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure that ORGNAME encourages blocking new users the day they create an account, before they've caused any trouble, and without a warning. At any rate, this user had good intent, and created that userpage as part of filling out a strategic planning application. (if you look closely he's not advertising his services, he is offering what he knows how to do to help wikipedia.) Please unblock and suggest he get his account renamed. +sj+06:58, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
The way I saw the wording, it did appear that it was an advertisement. It was tagged as an ad (CSD G11) by Triplestop (talk·contribs) and I immediately deleted it. In my block message (as in all messages of that type), I did encourage that if he/she wanted wanted to change their username, they can post an unblock message stating so. If the user is indeed using this as an application, I will very strongly consider unblocking him/her. Have you been in contact with this user by email or has the user emailed OTRS about this? Willking1979(talk)09:32, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Re Paola Rey (pornographic actress): where have you been for the last (I'm not sure but it must be at least 18 months)? We do not use {{pp-create}} to prevent article creation - see this: "it's not used to slap on a page by creating it and protecting it, but rather as the explanation for the new creation-protection system". It is now possible to protect a title which has no article. — RHaworth(talk·contribs)15:24, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Take a look at the article history on Murray State University. In particular, notice how may times in the past few months IPs have added a notation to President Dunn's name that indicates that he "likes to knit". I don't know what kind of lunacy hatched the goofy crusade to add this piece of trivia, although as an alum, I can imagine a few scenarios! Anyway, reverting it is getting kind of annoying, but I don't really know what to do, since the edits come from varied IPs. Is semi-protection in order? Is there anything else we can do? Acdixon(talk • contribs • count)18:27, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Judging by the IP edits, I believe it is better to semi-protect the page due to the varying nature of the IP addresses, some of which belong to Murray State. I will go ahead and semi-protect the page for one month. After the one month protection, if the edits resume, I may have to start a sockpuppetry case or protect the page even longer. Willking1979(talk)18:54, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Would it be possible for you to merge the edit histories of a category and its talk page that you deleted with their replacements? An editor created Category:Sverige class coastal defence ships and then populated it while emptying Category:Sverige class coastal defense ships (the one you properly deleted) out of process. I have retagged the present category for two wikiprojects, but if you could also examine the deleted category talk page to ensure that there were no other WP tags, that would be most appreciated. Thanks. — Bellhalla (talk) 22:23, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks again for helping me! I have a question, I already got an IP Address. Why do I have to do it again? I thought it would last for the like history for this user. Thanks again! RuneScapeAdventure01:17, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
I am not sure...could be collateral damage. Next time it happens, consider requesting an IP block exemption. More information about this can be found here.Willking1979(talk)01:23, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Yes...you must follow the instructions listed in the article next time you are autoblocked. IP block exemptions are given to those who have been trusted not to abuse the exemption. Willking1979(talk)01:33, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Warnings
Hi. I was issued with a couple of warnings in error by the users Ertemplin and Runescape Adventure. The latter has suggested that I contact you to have them reverted. I tried to revert them myself by deleting the text from my talk page, but I'm not at all sure that that's the right way to do it... Help please? Clicriffhard (talk) 00:15, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
I noticed that on 24 September you deleted User:Matheuler following his request and would like to ask your advice. He had kindly offered to mediate an ongoing edit problem that I thought was resolved, but now it's returned and we need help. When you have time, would you please take a look at Talk:Donghu and give me your opinion? Should I request help from another mediator or administrator? Thanks. Keahapana (talk) 20:40, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
I am not sure what happened to Matheuler...he has not edited since September 23. I simply noticed that his userspace pages were on the speedy deletion list and went ahead and deleted them. Although I do have a history degree, my personal strength is in US history. While I appreciate you asking me for assistance, in my view you should ask an experienced mediator and/or administrator to resolve this case. Thanks for all you do, Willking1979(talk)20:53, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
This user, who you blocked on September 26 for "Personal attacks or harassment", has returned, and his only edits since his block have been to continue his harassment, by reverting edits and templating articles edited by myself, and by User:Hellbus. Hellbus and I were also the targets of this IP address's previous harassment as seen here and here. WuhWuzDat21:52, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Just reblocked him for one week. I hope he learns his lesson after his block expires. If not, he/she will be blocked for much longer and an abuse report may be filed with the ISP. Willking1979(talk)22:02, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
I'm sadly unsurprised that this user has continued being unconstructive. As for learning his lesson, I have my doubts. This user has been blocked many times on multiple IPs with no significant change in behavior, except perhaps that he doesn't put a space before exclamation marks anymore. Hellbus (talk) 18:46, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
See User talk:JeremyA/Archive11#Your block of 78.130.205.196 and the section right below it. Since that time, 217.10.252.131 and 80.80.132.156 also edited in a strikingly similar fashion (tendentious editing, article ownership, near-incomprehensible grammar, trolling). I wouldn't be surprised if those and the ones listed on JeremyA's talk page were all proxies used by the same individual. In the words of Henry David Thoreau, "Some circumstantial evidence is very strong, as when you find a trout in the milk."Hellbus (talk) 01:03, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
That case was declined due to most of the IPs being inactive for a relatively long period of time. Doing an open proxy check might do more good, but I don't know how to do that. Hellbus (talk) 02:59, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
TalkBack, Dawn News
Hi. You deleted a page title "TalkBack, Dawn News". It still shows up though in the search engines such as google and yahoo and wikipedia itself and says it was deleted. Can you remove this page entirely from the web? If you can do so that would be great!! It causes great confusion! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.20.29.116 (talk) 08:31, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
We have no control over the search engines...their bots index pages every so often and from time to time they crawl a Wikipedia entry which was later deleted. However, you can ask Google and Yahoo to remove the entry from its results. Thanks, Willking1979(talk)09:50, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Got another Dingbat2007 sock who is causing problems on the WAGA-TV article. It was just an addition of a errant "1" on the page (still vandalism), but normally the start of something. You were the blocking admin previously, would you mind having a look? Thanks...NeutralHomer • Talk • 22:07, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
There is only one warning at this time. I am waiting until the user edits again before I would block or take other actions. I will monitor the page carefully as well. Willking1979(talk)22:17, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
Earlier you very kindly deleted Sex Panic! based on my G7 tag. I thought I was tagging the user subpage on which I created it, not realizing I'd moved it from there to mainspace and that clicking on the subpage link was redirecting me to the page in article space. Fail. Would you be able to restore the article? Having gone to the trouble of getting the thing ready for a GA nom I feel a bit silly having it obliterated. Gonzonoir (talk) 13:56, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
My bad...I sincerely apologize. If I knew about the "challenge", I would have kept the article. It did have, though, words without proper wikilinks. Willking1979(talk)02:32, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
It shouldn't matter who created the article, or that there was a challenge. Could you clarify on the linked page why you deleted the article as patent nonsense? I don't take it personally by any means, just trying to get to the root of our new editor repellence problem. Sincerely, Skomorokh, barbarian 02:37, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
I strongly recommend, in light of what you've written, reading User:Uncle G/Wikipedia triage#Checking for the possibility of speedy deletion and also Wikipedia:Patent nonsense. If you see others falling into the same trap of mis-using the patent nonsense criterion, then point them in the same directions. (That includes the editor whose tagging you followed in this particular case.) It's a common trap to fall into, but it's wrong nonetheless. One other basic thing to remember is that if an article is badly marked up, as people working in a collaborative project we should be working from the point of view of helping people unfamiliar with wiki markup, by fixing it for them. Uncle G (talk) 05:36, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
If there were improvement tags on the article at the time like there are now, I would have kept it. There are Wikipedians out there that see that type of article and proclaim "delete this article now." I believe that was the case earlier this morning--some editor jumped the gun and placed a speedy tag. Authors should place improvement or similar tags alongside the speedy or simply contest the speedy tag. If there are indeed reliable sources to back up the article in the coming days, it should be kept. However, if there is little or no improvement during this time period, the article should be up for deletion. Willking1979(talk)20:43, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
why man give it back or at least the info
why please give it back
why you deleted my article man that wasnt kool it was a gift for someone and you just ruined it i thought you was all nice and christian i was raise in a christina church and they told us to be nice and peaceful and let every one have there mind not shut thme up for some unreason thing —Preceding unsigned comment added by Obed ceballos (talk • contribs) 22:09, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
I sincerely appreciate the speed in which you processed the vandalism report and indef blocked the user who was blanking my userpage. Thank you, Willking1979! Basket of Puppies19:15, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Could you take a look at the AIV post for 4.227.117.153, please? It seems it got left behind after everyone clear the backlog. Thanks. - NeutralHomer • Talk • 23:49, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
While there is a clear pattern of vandalism in that range, and since there has been no vandalism from that specific IP since your warning, I would monitor the articles and the IP range for any further edits. Interestingly, none of those individual IPs have never been blocked. Willking1979(talk)00:06, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Yeah they seem to vandalize and then disappear for awhile and come back under a different IP and do it again. I have two of the three articles on my watchlist, so we will be both watching them. Thanks for checking it out. - NeutralHomer • Talk • 00:10, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
21:27, 19 October 2009 Willking1979 (talk | contribs) deleted "User:Brews ohare/Physchim62: A typical discussion" (Speedy deleted per CSD G10, page that serves no purpose but to disparage or threaten its subject or someone else. using TW)
This page was a verbatim quote taken from Physchim62's talk page, and I ask that it be restored. If he thinks his ridiculous attempts at dialog do him no credit, he shouldn't make these stupid remarks in the first place. I have added nothing, and subtracted nothing. Brews ohare (talk) 21:59, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
I assume you also will "strongly remind" Physchim62 to avoid comments like those outlined here and possibly suggest that stating my views are those who "believe in the Global Conspiracy" does not constitute "playing nice". Brews ohare (talk) 22:34, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
I am abstaining from further deleting, restoring or any other actions regarding this. If any admins are monitoring this page, you can feel free to take this matter. This is too complex to digest, and I have other Wiki and real-world duties to handle. Willking1979(talk)23:13, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Hi would you be willing to give me a copy of a Deleted page Im trying to help the user that Created the page understand what he needs to do to create the article again but in a way that wont get deleted. Please let me know if you will do this or if i need to go to another Admin.--Dcheagle (talk) 15:09, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Currently there is focused vandalism going on at Dan Lashley. Several users are vandalizing and now trying to nominate the article for deletion just because of a dislike for the person. Literally that is the only reason they're doing this. I listed the main one for Administrator intervention against vandalism and since the person who sent the first 3 warnings hadn't listed them properly it was removed for insufficient warnings sent by a bot. It's been childish remarks and now adding Speedy Delete to the page when that has been denied several times. Just looking for help in stopping this. DX927 (talk) 16:49, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
I went ahead and semi-protected the page for one week. I also noticed that the talk page has not been edited since June. Hopefully this one-week semi-protection (which disallows IPs and new editors from making changes) will help in improving the article and adding reliable sources. Willking1979(talk)17:14, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
