Yes, it is notorious that I am an Eminem fan, and tell me, who isn't? Ha ha, yes, I am working on the Eminem page because I do see spots that can use help in touching things up and just adding little things to the page that matter. Eminem is (in my opinion) the best rapper to ever pick up a mic.
And, I viewed your draft and I've got to say it is nice work! It cites way more things that the actual page, and has way more information, plus it is one of may favorite songs ever performed. Feel free to show me more drafts, also, check out some of mine. I have some links on my user page. Thanks, and see you around! TomUSA23:23, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'd love to join a WikiProject Eminem, so I signed myself up. I hope the vote goes through positive, there's so much to cover in Eminem related topics. TomUSA21:11, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There is currently a discussion going on, started by Mr. Nathan about his concerns that there may not be enough people dedicated enough to run the project. You might want to be a part of this discussion if you want the project to come to fruition. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]12:36, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Re: Remember
Yes, thanks for the links, I'll look at them to keep myself refreshed. The drafts I'm doing are articles that won't really be put into mainspace, like Keith Gustin who isn't notable enough for his own Wikipedia page, and DreDay & Gucci Ruci who are completely indie hip hop artists. The only one who could be recieving a page is Pref1x because he may get signed to Eminem's record label. Most of my drafts are what-if pages for rappers/websites/songs etc. that no one would edit about for a while. And the reason I cite mostly with Twitter and YouTube is because the artists don't have a lot of connections to other webs like MTV or Billboard. I'll only do that stuff when I can find it, or when editing a mainspace article. Thanks, TomUSA19:50, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Would you mind commenting to an open disussion, posted for the deletion of the article What If (Aaliyah song)? I've notified a couple of the article's main contributors, who haven't responded, and it'll help if an experienced editor would comment too. Dan56 (talk) 05:20, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. Turns out the article has not been expanded enough for dyk nomination. I put up the article for peer review before I nominate it for any honorable status as it could use some work. I noticed you started wokring on Madonna as a gay icon. Have you taken a look at this yet? I just stumbled across it a few days ago. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]15:35, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I knew Stephen was working on it and has done an amazing job on it. He will wait another year to make it live though. Yes I commented on the LTWYL PR, mainly the reference formatting is present, otherwise its damn good work. — Legolas(talk2me)17:57, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea to continue developing it till the BTW era ends. As for Em/RiRi, I'll do some copyediting over the next few days. I am planning to make Recovery a good topic by 2012 and at least get LTWYL to FA by the end of August, though I highly doubt it. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]19:40, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
When do you plan to start work on older Eminem articles?
I've noticed that the Eminem articles you've been working on have largely been "recent" ones - i.e. "Love the Way You Lie", "Fast Lane", "Lighters", etc. When do you plan to start work on older Eminem articles? You've contributed some edits already to older articles, such as "Just Don't Give a Fuck" and "Nuttin' to Do", but there has been nothing truly extensive. This is not a criticism, please note: I am just curious to know when you plan to start. I expect you won't until you've totally finished with the ones you're working extensively on at the moment - you say yourself you have drafted out all of these articles yourself to improve them. I would do it all myself, but although I can write decent prose, I can never write in quite enough detail, and I sometimes struggle to find sources to back up information I know is true. A group working on these articles together would be more effective, in my opinion.
By the way - great job on the "Love the Way You Lie" article. The current edit is a significant improvement over the previous one. Just so you know, I added the credits and personnel, as I used the liner booklet from my own copy of Recovery.
Also - when citing Dutch charts, should I use the Dutch Top 40 or the Mega Single Top 100? As I've told you already, I'm working through all of Eminem's song articles and fixing the chart tables: however, the choice of Dutch chart across other articles varies. Hung Medien - the source of many of the positions - uses the latter, at dutchcharts.nl, so I have been using this one - however, on "Love the Way You Lie", you have chosen the latter to cite. Which, if either, should be preferred, or does it not matter?
I understand what you mean. I have started from the most recently released ones. The reason I do that is because they have valuable information quickly turning up and I want people to get the news as quickly as possible. And the newer articles are going to get more recognition as well. Yes, the older singles need A LOT of work, ("Just Don't Give a Fuck" is just disappointing in terms of prose.) As you said, this is why we need the WikiProject; Just two people can't do all this stuff. I am going to do "Not Afraid" next, then possibly touch some of the older ones like "Stan".
Thanks for the personnel in that article. As I tend to buy digital albums instead (yes, I BUY them), I don't have access to liner notes. And the pdf that's included with the iTunes album has so many typos, it's unreliable. If you have the "Hell: The Sequel" physical CD, could you take some time to check if "Lighters" and "Fast Lane" have correct credits. That would be nice.
As for the Dutch singles charts, I mainly worked on the prose of "LTWYL" and just left the charts as they were, just repairing dead urls. Use the Dutch Top 40. There is an error in the article, that it uses Single Top 100 for the year-end. I'll go fix that now. You'll find that featured articles and good articles like "4 Minutes" and "Hollaback Girl" use the Dutch Top 40 instead. I don't know why the Top 40 is used instead, but you could ask someone from WP:SONGS.
As it happens, yes, I do have a physical copy of Hell: The Sequel (although, apart from an old copy of Curtain Call: The Hits these are the only physical Eminem albums I own: all of the older Eminem songs I have were downloaded from iTunes, and other similar stores).
Anyway, I compared the liner notes with the "Credits and personnel" sections of "Fast Lane" and "Lighters", and they are fine: the iTunes PDF seems to have been right. I plan to add the credits for "Not Afraid" soon as well, plus any new Bad Meets Evil singles that may emerge.
Also, I'm trying to work on improving "Lose Yourself", although considering the age of the song (nine years) it may be difficult to add or find much new information, despite its fame. However, I'll try my best. Sufur222 (talk) 15:07, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Funny, cause I was planning for "Lose Yourself" to go through a total overhaul. That song is so famous and talked about, its got to be one of Eminem's longest song articles (potentially). My problem is that because the song is so old, there will likely be more information on it in books than the Internet, meaning I have to spend money :( and who knows how long it will take them to ship. I'll appreciate your help on that one. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]15:15, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
hi
I was reading the live performance section of LTWYL, and I noticed you included the Grammy performance. That's wrong, Eminem and Rihanna actually performed Part 2. So I'd advise that you remove that, before the article gets a reviewer. Calvin • NaNaNaC'mon!21:18, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No no that's great! Thanks. Btw, how do I do it that all 4 tabs on that page are closed? Instead of having the first and last open and the second and third closed? Calvin • NaNaNaC'mon!16:28, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The About Me and Musiccc ones are open, you can see the userboxes. The Wikiprojects and Contributions ones are closed, you can't see the userboxes unless you click on "show". I want all of them to be like the Wikiprojects and Contributions ones, so that the person must click on "show" for all four. Calvin • NaNaNaC'mon!16:36, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's simple. You know where you have the <div class="NavContent">? Change all these tags to <div class="NavContent" style="display: none;">. That sets the boxes to be closed by default. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]16:42, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I'll see if I can help with the credits. It may take some time to find my CD. I could use the iTunes PDF, but physical copies are always more reliable. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]13:02, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
He isn't the reviewer, he is just adding his opinion. If he wants to continue discussing it, he can come to my talk page. But he is no reason for the GAN having to wait to be passed. It's you that decides if the article is going to pass, not him. Calvin • NaNaNaC'mon!22:43, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So auto complete didn't fuck you up? ;) I'll see if I can; there is too much going on in that video, it will be very long, but I'll try. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]13:26, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That THR is really getting on my nerves now. He is being irritating and annoying over nothing. There is no reason for there to be an intricate detail banner on the Music video section, because it is not intricate. He is raising a multitude of points which are dead and no other article seems to go through what he is saying. I think he is getting personally involved and doesn't want the article to become a GA because it isn't of FA detail, which is a load of BS. I don't think any of those 3 banners still apply, as I have addressed them all and they no longer stand. The third opinion person on my talk page has even agreed with me. I won't be able to get online until tomorrow afternoon so I won't see any comments you post. This isn't aimed at you btw lol, I'm just venting my frustration. Calvin • NaNaNaC'mon!12:30, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Literally everything has been done now. And I am not putting 2010 everywhere. It has never been raised in the 7 previous GANs I have nominated and they have all passed without it being raised as an issue by a multitude of reviewers, including in Peer Reviews. Calvin • NaNaNaC'mon!14:54, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. I'm proposing a WikiProject Kanye West at WikiProject Council/Proposals/Kanye West. Would you mind taking the time to vote there? Put your name in the Support section if you think he deserves one.
I don't think it is too far from FAC. You can add information from here to the article and start a Recording section, maybe. The article also has information on "Not Afraid" :) Novice7 (talk) 11:30, 26 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. I was told during one of the FA nominations (forgot the article) to avoid fancy quotes (like the one I removed). So, I replaced it with normal quotation marks. Also, you had forgotten to close the quotes. You can revert back if you want to :) Novice7 (talk) 11:44, 26 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I have another dilema to deal with at Commons for Flickr washing. Had to take down that Eminem/Rihanna image on LTWYL. I'll go find something from the VMAs. —WP:PENGUIN·[ TALK ]18:56, 26 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, okay. Well if it's that much of a problem I will just continue to call you Penguin. (Btw, Calvin isn't my real name, you can just make something up). Calvin • NaNaNaC'mon!17:49, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Yea, I agree with you. I know that Wikipedia is place to be serious about when editing, but adding in great comments alongside them, make them even more worthwhile. It puts a smile on face, and I'm sure it puts a smile on others. Keep up the good work! Saru786 (talk) 00:23, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
