JRC Follow up

Okay.

I have been working with a group of Carpenter Family researchers regarding the two William Carpenter immigrants and their immediate families. Both arrived in America the mid 1630s.

I produced a Carpenter Family CD in 2001 and have spent many years sorting the wheat from the chaff with this research group. We have found many will transcription errors, supposition and duplication. Our best writer/researcher is Gene Zubrinsky.

Y-DNA research on these two families have confirmed paper trails to the William Carpenter immigrants and the real Y-DNA relatedness of those two William Carpenters.

Wikipedia is much more than a contemporaneous journal. Sure we might know now where the Drum Tower is located, or where the 2008 Games were held. That will not be the case in the future. Where were the 1928 Summer Olympics held? The previous title contained no mention of city or nation, which was my concern. I care because Wikipedia should be as accurate as possible. Hi - I can see why you've applied Wikipedia:Notability_(music)#Criteria_for_musicians_and_ensembles as he fails on a few grounds - if however the other band he played (captain Rizz was added as a entry as I believe it should be - I didn't create an entry for them as I know very little about them, but a quick google show several vinyl LPs on Indie labels, with one still for sale on Amazon. Let me tell you about a phenomenon I have noticed, both in real life, and here on the wikipedia. I find some people don't cope well with questions -- cope so poorly to questions that they regard even the most tactfully phrased, good faith questions as personal attacks.

Have you ever noticed this phenomenon in others?

Would you please review this comment of yours?

I am afraid there is no really tactful way to suggest this to you. I think it is in your interest, and in the interest of the wikipedia project, for you to think about whether you yourself might be one of those vulnerable individuals.

Speedy deletion

I notice that you tagged the page spend the night in bray for speedy deletion with the reason "article about a musical recording that does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject, and where the artist's article has never existed or has been deleted". While that's a valid reason for speedy deletion in general, this page does not qualify for speedy deletion under that criterion because Dustin The Turkey does have an article. If you still want the page to be deleted, please consider tagging it with a speedy deletion template which does apply, redirecting it to another page, or using the WP:PROD process. Thanks! Hi. I am not aware that there is any time limit on nominating an article for deletion. Since the author asserted notability, it was not possible to nominate the article for speedy deletion. A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of victims of the November 2008 Mumbai attacks, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

THE FREDDIE & FANNIE ROPE TRICK

I am confused by your revert of my edit to THE FREDDIE & FANNIE ROPE TRICK, now deleted. The reason for the post is simply to try to understand Wikipedia policy. I believe that you are reading the posted link wrong, but then it could be me that is reading it wrong. Wikipedia:Suspected copyright violations states "Mark them as such on this list, but do not remove them until they are deleted." I do not believe that it is refering to the copyrighted material itself, but to the tag that was posted on the page and then stating that the entry created by the tag on page "Wikipedia:Suspected copyright violations" should be edited.

I believe that it is saying do not delete the report entry below. But in this case there is no entry as the bot did not tag the article but you did. See WP:VIO that states:

ATTENTION: For blatant copyright infringements:
  • If there is a clean revision in the page history, revert to it.
  • If not, and it meets the criteria, request speedy deletion with {{db-copyvio|url=http://www.WhereItCameFrom.tld/}}

and

However, if all revisions have copyright problems:
Place on the page one of the following:
{{subst:copyvio | url=insert URL here}}
{{subst:copyvio | identify non-web source here}}
This will blank all text beneath the template. (To limit blanking, place </div> at the end of the text to be blanked.)

I believe that you used a different tag that did not blank the copy from display which was part of the reason why I deleted the copy. But secondly was to note the fact that it was also posted to a second page where it hade been reverted.

If I am the one reading it wrong, would you be so kind to explain how. The page has already been deleted. This post is simply to help me understand policy and to avoid making reverting errors myself. Thank you Dbiel (Talk) 13:32, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Dementia c.o.d.

Before I made that edit, I too wondered if dementia was a cause of death. Before I saved it, I read the dementia article. The disease being a possible cause of death is stated in the article. We all learn something new every day. :) Ed (talk) 13:31, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Please explain

You undid my re-addition of February without responding to my comments at Talk:Deaths in 2009. Could you comment on that page?

Paul Harvey died in February. His death is current news. But the calendar had already switched over to March when he died, since it was March in Greenwich time. Someone in the USA clicking on "Recent deaths" on the main page on the evening of February 28th would see only the blank March 1st item and would not find out that Paul Harvey had died.

Deleting a month from that page the instant the month is over will cause this problem. Deleting it a week later will not. Michael Hardy (talk) 16:26, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

You are missing the point of my edit. Editors were recording February deaths at Deaths in February 2009 or Deaths in 2009 on a whim, which meant neither list was accurate. I simply closed one list to stop the duplication. If you wanted to keep February deaths open at Deaths in 2009 for a longer period, then you should also have closed Deaths in February 2009 (after transferring any unique February edits made there). I have no problem with the rollover being delayed for a while, as long as there is only one page available for editing. Regards, WWGB (talk) 22:36, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Greg Bird

I see footballer Greg Bird has more charges against him, for assaulting yet another woman. I went to his page, and see that according to Wikipedia, he has a clean record. Looking down the history list, I noticed that you had previously added this information to the article in the past. However, clever little gremlins and fanbois seem to come in during the night and delete all those negative things. I guess that's part of Wikipedia  :) --Lester 03:25, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
