JRC Follow upOkay. I have been working with a group of Carpenter Family researchers regarding the two William Carpenter immigrants and their immediate families. Both arrived in America the mid 1630s. I produced a Carpenter Family CD in 2001 and have spent many years sorting the wheat from the chaff with this research group. We have found many will transcription errors, supposition and duplication. Our best writer/researcher is Gene Zubrinsky. The most current and verifiable information regarding the William Carpenter immigrants is online at: http://members.cox.net/jrcrin001/carplink.htm Y-DNA research on these two families have confirmed paper trails to the William Carpenter immigrants and the real Y-DNA relatedness of those two William Carpenters. Use the Table of Contents to go to the discussion section of Groups 2 & 3. Note: Tables 1, 2 and 3 have Group 2 & 3 Y-DNA marker results. The FTDNA number on the far left of Groups 2 & 3 if clicked on lead to the lineages provided. See Groups 2 & 3 at the following link. http://members.cox.net/johnrcarpenter/index.htm I am a novice at Wikipedia. You have a much better understanding of the editing, format and policies. What I would like to see is a correction of the Carpenter posting you have on line. Is that possible? John R. Tommy Lowne was my father and I can assure you that he died. Can you please tell me what evidence is needed, so that I can provide it? If you've ever thought about popping along to one of these, but haven't had the chance - now's the time! If you love the idea, but the time and / or place don't quite work for you, please do feel free to wiki edit away at the meetup page and I'm sure we can sort something out :-) Meetups are a great way to share wiki-thoughts, meet wiki-friends, and generally learn how to prefix all areas of your life with wiki- :-) It's a very friendly bunch, and we're hoping to be able to formally collect membership fees and details for the Australian Chapter (did you know that we're the only current english speaking chapter? Join now for kudos and future bragging rights!) - as well as just generally have a good 'ol time. I look forward to seeing you there :-) best, Privatemusings (talk) 07:48, 10 October 2008 (UTC) QF72 AFDPoint taken, thanks - I've edited my comment. I find some people don't cope well with questions -- cope so poorly to questions that they regard even the most tactfully phrased, good faith questions as personal attacks. Have you ever noticed this phenomenon in others? Would you please review this comment of yours? I am afraid there is no really tactful way to suggest this to you. I think it is in your interest, and in the interest of the wikipedia project, for you to think about whether you yourself might be one of those vulnerable individuals. Good luck with that! Geo Swan (talk) 21:01, 16 October 2008 (UTC) Speedy deletionI notice that you tagged the page spend the night in bray for speedy deletion with the reason "article about a musical recording that does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject, and where the artist's article has never existed or has been deleted". While that's a valid reason for speedy deletion in general, this page does not qualify for speedy deletion under that criterion because Dustin The Turkey does have an article. If you still want the page to be deleted, please consider tagging it with a speedy deletion template which does apply, redirecting it to another page, or using the WP:PROD process. Thanks! I am a keen political observer and have been researching a book on QLD Politics in the modern era. I have conducted interviews with Lee Cox and have sat in lectures at Griffith Uni taken by Steven Stockwell, this page is full of crap. Mr Cox is not a professor, he is not an author or a political notable, he is a tutor at Griffith Uni and run some failed council campaigns. The editor who re-inserted the tag gave an explanation for the reason [1]. Also, if you remove these tags in the future, could you avoid marking the edits as minor, and provide a more detailed reason for removing the tags? John R. Stallings (again)You removed the recent death template from John R. Stallings again, without commenting on the talk page or responding to my comment on your talk page above. If you remove the tag again without commenting, I will strongly consider blocking you for edit warring. It's clear that there isn't agreement with your removal of the tag, and repeating your actions without any discussion is out of line with community norms. And, as I said above, the edit should not be marked as a minor edit, especially when it has been reverted twice already. — Carl (CBM · talk) 16:48, 5 December 2008 (UTC) Bilawal Bhutto ZardariThey are not the same script, Sindhi and Urdu are not the same language! The reason for the post is simply to try to understand Wikipedia policy. I believe that you are reading the posted link wrong, but then it could be me that is reading it wrong. Wikipedia:Suspected copyright violations states "Mark them as such on this list, but do not remove them until they are deleted." I do not believe that it is refering to the copyrighted material itself, but to the tag that was posted on the page and then stating that the entry created by the tag on page "Wikipedia:Suspected copyright violations" should be edited. I believe that it is saying do not delete the report entry below. But in this case there is no entry as the bot did not tag the article but you did. See WP:VIO that states:
and
I believe that you used a different tag that did not blank the copy from display which was part of the reason why I deleted the copy. But secondly was to note the fact that it was also posted to a second page where it hade been reverted. If I am the one reading it wrong, would you be so kind to explain how. The page has already been deleted. This post is simply to help me understand policy and to avoid making reverting errors myself. Charles H. SmelserYou recently deleted the date of death tag for former Maryland politician Charles H. Smelser. What is your reason for deleting it? He died on January 29th. Could you comment on that page? Paul Harvey died in February. His death is current news. But the calendar had already switched over to March when he died, since it was March in Greenwich time. Someone in the USA clicking on "Recent deaths" on the main page on the evening of February 28th would see only the blank March 1st item and would not find out that Paul Harvey had died. Deleting a month from that page the instant the month is over will cause this problem. Deleting it a week later will not. Michael Hardy (talk) 16:26, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
