File source problem with File:Album tubebarbootleg2.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Album tubebarbootleg2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Questioning a revert
I think you may have misread my edit when you reverted it - I wasn't removing a source, I was expanding it into a full cite template. It has a completely different headline, but that's the title given at the URL. The rest of the edit was just tidying up the confusing/contradictory presentation of the Groening quote (the "creative synchronicity" line sounds like it's accusing Groening of contradicting himself, but I don't think that's the case) and removing the unsourced aside that the Bum Bar Bastards invented the Mike Hunt gag name. --McGeddon (talk) 16:02, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
Am I missing something? I am sorry if I am and perhaps you could better explain your reasoning behind this. The quote that Groening stated as "creative synchronicity" came directly from the L.A. Times Article that you removed in your edit. Be what it may it is an RS and I didn't make up what it said: (Please carefully read: http://articles.latimes.com/1993-06-03/news/vw-42985_1_prank-calls) I just don't see any grounds for removing that source simply because you feel it doesn't sound right. Okay, got it. I wasn't removing "synchronicity" for not being in the source, I just reworked the quote because it seemed clumsily presented in the article - what exactly is "Groening had obtained a copy and incorporated the phone high jinks into a running gag [...] However, according to an L.A. Times Article from 1993 Groening stated that the connection was "creative synchronicity" but admitted to being a fan of the calls" trying to say? That he deliberately worked the gag into the Simpsons, but also dismissed this similarity as "synchronicity" (so a "coincidence"?), but also admitted to being a fan of the tapes? The "however" makes it sound like we're conflating two sources, but we only have the one - I suppose an editor added everything after "however" to rebut the unsourced claim that it was deliberate?
You're right that I gave a bad summary of the source. I'll see if I can find a clearer statement from Groening - his being a knowledgeable fan of the tapes yet also dismissing the Simpsons homage as "synchronicity" seems a bit off. I'll revert the other changes I made, in the mean time, if your only objection was my use of the Groening source. --McGeddon (talk) 10:00, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
Yes I agree with your point. I didn't have a problem with your edit, it was that you removed that L.A. Times source that's all.
