Tagging pages for deletion

Hello, Tooncool64,

Please stop tagging pages for speedy deletion as you don't seem to understand the Criteria for speedy deletion. Do not tag any more pages until you understand the criteria, thoroughly. If you have questions, please bring them to the Teahouse. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 08:20, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the correction. I will be more careful in the future. All the best, Tooncool64 (talk) 08:36, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Tooncool64,
You seem to be on a deletion rampage. You don't have a lot of experience editing the project, why are you suddenly tagging articles as PRODs or starting AFDs? You have to really understand Wikipedia's policies and guidelines to be knowledgable about deciding when an article should be considered for deletion. Have you editing Wikipedia with other accounts? It just seems very odd to return to the project after more than 4 years of inactivity and then tag a lot of articles for deletion. Can you see why this looks unusual? Liz Read! Talk! 04:11, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello,
My new hyper-fixation is on clearing pages of from the WikiProject for unreferenced articles. I can understand if you feel like I have been overly zealous, and I can concede that a minority of the articles I have tagged for deletion have been unfounded, but many of these articles have been unsourced for 16 years. If I am able to find sources, I add them to the articles, as you can see from my contribs. Are you suspecting me to be some bad faith actor? If you feel like I have been malicious in any of edits, feel free to point out.
All the best, Tooncool64 (talk) 06:28, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

PROD and Twinkle

Hi, seeing as you're currently tagging large amounts of pages for PROD or AfD, I recommend using Twinkle to greatly improve the process. It automatically logs AfD nominations, and automatically leaves notes on talk pages for prod. Additionally, please put some effort into searching for sources before tagging. For example, a few of your PRODed articles meet WP:NGEO as a legally recognized settlement. Thanks, and happy holidays. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 02:36, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for letting me know. I concede that I have been somewhat zealous in my PROD's. Happy Holidays to you as well. All the best, Tooncool64 (talk) 06:32, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

Please use edit summaries when making edits. This is especially important when nominating pages for deletion or making other edits that are significant. Thryduulf (talk) 11:18, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

One of your edits to Christmas tree was removed as described in this talk page topic at Christmas tree trimming. Your effort to improve the text was noble, but not rewarding. Shenme (talk) 07:44, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unreliable sources

Information icon Thank you for contributing to the article Pitching wedge. However, please do not use unreliable sources such as blogs, your own website, websites and publications with a poor reputation for checking the facts or with no editorial oversight, expressing views that are widely acknowledged as extremist, that are promotional in nature, or that rely heavily on rumors and personal opinions, as one of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. If you require further assistance, please look at Help:Menu/Editing Wikipedia, or ask at the Teahouse. Thank you. wjematherplease leave a message... 15:48, 26 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page List of statutory instruments of the United Kingdom, 1973, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A "bare URL and missing title" error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 22:21, 26 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stop trying to destroy other people’s work

What are you thinking just randomly proposing to delete articles just because they’ve been around for long. Are you envious or something? Please do something productive rather than destructive on Wikipedia and reconsider your trigger-happy deletionism which only serves to alienate contributors who actually create useful stuff. — Timwi (talk) 15:29, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I hope I alienate contributors who leave their pages unsourced for 16 years. A statement I regret saying, but will leave on the page as a reminder for myself. Tooncool64 (talk) 18:08, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That sentiment violates policies on AGF and civility. You shouldn't seek angering other editors. Try to spend some time on improving articles and not just tagging them for deletion. You could try to find sources instead of seeking the deletion of undersourced articles. Liz Read! Talk! 18:10, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from Crux (comics), which you proposed for deletion. Possibly notable, numerous reviews of individual books online and on proquest. Ex. https://www.publishersweekly.com/9781931484633. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}} back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 22:22, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sources added to article are accessible via TWL. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 22:24, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for adding sources! Tooncool64 (talk) 22:27, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletions

Please note: the proposed deletion process is only to be used for proposing the uncontroversial deletion of articles, not for articles that obviously meet notability criteria but simply require citations to sources that can very easily be found. Also, your comment above ("I hope I alienate contributors...") is not the attitude that is expected in a collegial editing environment. Regards, wjematherplease leave a message... 09:11, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've reverted several of your PRODings. While I appreciate that you've attempted to identify and add sources to articles that lack them, just because you were unable to find sources readily available online does not mean that none exist or that an article should always be deleted. The rationales you give, such as "Fails WP:NGEO" for recognised settlements that quite clearly do not fail said guideline, suggest that you are not actually basing your proposals on those rationales, but merely the fact that the articles are unsourced, which is not a valid reason for deletion. --Paul_012 (talk) 06:02, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for holding me accountable. Sometimes I tend to get carried away. Tooncool64 (talk) 09:02, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Mainflingen transmitter

You proposed deletion of Mainflingen transmitter on 30 December 2023. You have deleted it today, 1 January 2024. That is a clear violation of WP:PROD which requires 7 days' notice. Could you please restore the article, including demerging the content from Deutschlandfunk? Matt's talk 20:14, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article's PROD status was contested by @Kvng suggesting either merging or redirecting the content of the article to Deutschlandfunk. When I followed through with the suggestion, the article was no longer PROD, which is not a violation of WP policy. Tooncool64 (talk) 20:16, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the explanation and correcting my misunderstanding. Could you please point me to this discussion? I can't find anything in the edit histories for either the article or its talk page, mentioning @Kvng, only the edit by @User:A._B.. Matt's talk 20:21, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I too made an error. It was indeed @A. B., and not @Kvng who de-prodded the article. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Tooncool64 (talk) 20:25, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nominations

Hello Tooncool64 -- When you nominate an article for deletion you are required to state this explicitly in the edit summary, even if it is part of a bundled nomination. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 00:42, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for letting me know. Tooncool64 (talk) 01:07, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from San Rafael National High School (Tigaon, Camarines Sur), which you proposed for deletion. Please note: WP:NGEO is not the relevant notability guideline for schools. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}} back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! wjematherplease leave a message... 23:32, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from Radio Free Montenegro, which you proposed for deletion. It's clear from a simple google search that the station existed; with mentions in BBC, MSJ and Time, deletion doesn't seem to be uncontroversial.. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}} back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! wjematherplease leave a message... 23:45, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from Parothumneer, which you proposed for deletion. The village appears on Google maps, so would seem to exist; in any case, redirection would be better than deletion.. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}} back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! wjematherplease leave a message... 13:13, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deprodding of Hassi Amor

Hi Tooncool64, I've removed the PROD tag from Hassi Amor. You said that the page does not satisfy WP:NGEO. NGEO says: "Populated, legally recognized places are typically presumed to be notable, even if their population is very low." According to the article, Hassi Amor has a population of 2,000-3,000 people. Toughpigs (talk) 06:24, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the drive! I know that you will come here, because both of us share an passion for crushing the backlog once and for all :) You could take a look at the drive page, cite a few articles, discuss with the organizers at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Unreferenced articles, but otherwise, good luck! Thank you so much for being an inspiration for me starting the drive. Without your RfC, I doubt that such a drive will ever exist. CactiStaccingCrane (talk) 07:09, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for finding the passion to create the backlog drive! I'm looking forward to contributing when I am available. Good luck to you as well! Tooncool64 (talk) 07:15, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's better to do something rather than nothing :) CactiStaccingCrane (talk) 07:17, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from P. Chinnamma Reddy, which you proposed for deletion. I've added a ref which shows that the article meets WP:NPOL. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}} back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:49, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced backlog drive

Hi, thanks for sourcing articles during the WP:FEB24 drive! I am reviewing some of your contributions and wanted to provide feedback on the source you added in Measurement Systems division. You linked a press release, which is a WP:PRIMARY source. Please use reliable secondary sources when adding references in an article.

Let me know if something is unclear. I would greatly appreciate it if you could check your past edits and find a better source if needed, so I do not have to review all your (many!) contributions to the drive. Thanks for helping reduce the backlog! Broc (talk) 07:12, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My bad, I did not realize it was a press release. I will see if I can find any additional sources when I am available. Thank you for letting me know. Tooncool64 (talk) 07:59, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - just a heads up, in doing a review of List of Italian submachine guns for the drive, I noticed you re-instereted a reference from an indefinitely blocked editor, whose edit had been reverted. It looks like you have just copied and pasted the blocked editor's previous citation, which misrendered the author, source title and article title, and left out the source date. You've also left in last year's access date, rather than the date of your edit (which would indicate to others that the reference was checked). I've passed the review and cleaned up the citation, but in future, a small piece of advice given in good faith, perhaps less haste and more checking.
