Mondex Corp page

Hello Toadette,

You reviewed my submission on Mondex Corp, the art restitution firm, and I'm wondering whether you can help me get to publishing the page. Here is what you noted:

"only two sources contribute to notability, and the rest does not discusses the subject in detail to pass NCORP"

A couple questions for you – do i not need two to contribute to notability? Does not the company's key role in various very notable cases qualify it for notability?

If you can help me further, I would greatly appreciate it.

@EditorRechts, Good evening. I took a quick review of the draft. Yes, I declined it five months ago as not meeting notability guidelines (company specific to be precise). The guideline states that the article should have multiple reliable sources. AFAIK, at the time of reviewing, I only saw 2 potential sources, while the rest are simply mentions. Because I expected the article to be nominated for deletion had it been accepted, I declined it. Note that the company notability guidelines are stricter than the general notability guidelines. It is recommended to have at least three sources.

  2. what is the difference between a source and a mention?
  3. As to notability – I am involving myself in the field of restitution and they are one of the two or three most significant firms or organisations active in this contested field. Do I need three sources to state such?

In the draft Draft:Mondex Corporation, I initially saw that there were two: Mondex to return valuable Dutch paintings to Holocaust survivor’s descendants and "Mondex Corporation et Mélina Wolman accompagnent les héritiers de David Cender, dans le processus historique de restitution de l'œuvre de Marc Chagall intitulée Le Père, spoliée pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale par les Nazis - LE MONDE DU DROIT : le magazine des professions juridiques". These sources are reliable and independent and discuss the subject in detail. A difference between a source and a mention is that the sources reference the subject once or twice without anything significant. If I understand you correctly, you are saying there are only two articles from reliable third party sources that mention Mondex' specific work in detail, and you cite the two (The Globe and Mail article, Le Monde Du Droit Article). There are other sources included in the draft article that are reliable and independent press publications that explicitly mention Mondex' work and describe it as critical to the case. Here are two examples (there are more but I only include the two to get straight to the point):
  1. Ben-David, Daniel. "The miraculous story of the Chagall that was lost and found and lost again". www.thejc.com. Retrieved 2024-02-02.
  2. Abrams, Amah-Rose (2016-06-13). "Nahmad Denies His Modigliani is Nazi Loot". Artnet News. Retrieved 2024-02-02.
On point three – notability: publications like ArtNet, the leading publication on art world news, states in multiple articles that Mondex' work is critical to one of the largest restitution cases currently underway. Another element is the crucial changes to the restitution law in the Netherlands: the handling and outcome of the Kandinsky case, which was Mondex' case, was central to the change in a national law. This would not have happened without Mondex. That is why I stated, in the opening paragraph:
"its practices have led to changes in restitution law and practices in various countries."
I also backed up that claim with the Monde Du Droit article.

The previous rejections of the draft were for a similar reason. Before submitting this draft I tried to include all quality references, and after some discussions with other members, I believed the current references were acceptable. All are from official websites of reputed organisations. Is there any specific references which are not up to the mark ? The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Call for candidates.

Here is the schedule:

  • October 8–14 - Candidate sign-up (we are here)
  • October 22–24 - Discussion phase
  • October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase

Please note the following:

  • The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
  • Prospective candidates are advised to become familar with the community's expectations of adminstrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
  • The process will have a one week call for candidates phase, a one week pause to set up SecurePoll, a three-day period of public discussion, followed by 7 days of no public discussion and a private vote using SecurePoll.
  • The outcomes of this process are identical to making requests for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA or administrator elections.
  • Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.

Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.

To avoid sending too many messages, this will be the last mass message sent about administrator elections. If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. The discussion phase of the October 2024 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • October 22–24 - Discussion phase

During October 22–24, we will be in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages will open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Discussion phase.

On October 25, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote tallies cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's tally during the election. The suffrage requirements are different from those at RFA.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for an indeterminate amount of time, perhaps a week or two. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose). As this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

@Princerajlogre, the external link you added to Human reproduction was inappropriate and unnecessary (and in the wrong section), while your edits to Phyllophora traillii was basically a violation to the Manual of Style. A recommendation is to review the manual of style, as well as the introduction to Wikipedia to help you understand how to write articles properly and within guidelines, as well as the guide to how to add external links as appropriate. I noticed that you edited/wrote a number of pages about the Cairo metro. I'm an exchange student in egypt and for my class (I study Arabic) I have to make a 'film'. I chose to make mine about Cairo metro line 3 and was wondering if I could make a small interview with you about your interest for the Cairo metro line. The documentary is nothing serious, it's just for my class and I thought it could be fun to meet some people and practice my Arabic. I won't ask any difficult questions it's just for fun.

Hi, Thank you for your help with this. I assumed imdb would be a credible source. But if not, I am mentioned in multiple Wikipedia entries if that is a start for reliable sources. For instance… I am listed under "Voices" on the Sheep In The Big City page - [[Sheep in the Big City] and On the Shorties Watchin' Shorties page I am mentioned under "Characters." I am on multiple wiki forums and pages too. Like Muppet wiki or Paramount wiki https://paramount.fandom.com/wiki/Shorties_Watchin%27_Shorties under "Recurring Characters." I'd love for my name to be able to link to wikipedia off of these posts.

For tv credits if IMDb is not satisfactory, what do you recommend? My name would be in the credits of those shows but I do not have access to the video of every episode of everything I've ever been on. For instance on this youtube clip you will see my name in the credits at 19:53 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKigMRHyD2M&list=PL5spwuFdmcEZM76UmgKNgmXDa1zrujFp0 or at 20:40 on this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4u7ZGRY74KU which all should correspond with my imdb.

@Cewal21, welcome to Wikipedia! IMDb is not a reliable source since it can be edited by all, as do Fandom and YouTube.
