The new term for coordinators will be starting at the beginning of October. Elections will commence within the next few days. If you have interest in helping to maintain and guide the project, consider nominating yourself. Details on the role can be found on the main coordinator page. A notice of the nomination period will be sent to all members once the election begins.
AnmaFinotera resigned as coordinator after she retired from Wikipedia. AnmaFinotera has been with WP:FILMS for several years, writing several GA/FAs for the project and serving as coordinator since 2009. Details about her retirement can be found on her user page.
A few adjustments were made to {{Infobox film}} this month. In addition to the larger image size and the rearrangement of several fields, the writing credit has been modified to include credit for both the screenplay and story. Please review the template to expand on and/or remove unneeded fields from the articles you work on.
Our project currently has over 73,000 film-related articles, with over three hundred unassessed articles, thanks to the assessment department! Remember to always add the {{Film|class=}} template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. If you believe that an article should be assessed at a certain class, feel free to follow the assessment scale and assess the article yourself (it's not too difficult to determine the basic classes such as stubs, categories, or lists). Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class.
Based on views, the top five most popular articles from our project this month were: Inception, The Expendables, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Internet Movie Database, and 2010 in film. For a list of our project's top 1,000 most popular articles, see here. Consider helping to improve one of these articles that is seen by thousands to millions of people each month.

... that The Lame Devil, Sacha Guitry's 1948 historical film, was blocked by French censorship and had to be turned into a successful play before being allowed filming?

I was just looking at 'odd' pages tagged for pending-changes protection, because the trial is over, and there is currently considerable dispute as to whether PC should be removed, as there is no consensus approval.
There are no other newsletters which are tagged with pending changes protection.
If delivered through substitution, protection is not necessary. If transcluded, then it is possible that semi- or full-protection might be appropriate, I suppose. Best, Chzz ► 14:28, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
The recent run of articles like Rokkadakatti (in which I have participated, I have to say) has gotten me thinking; do you think there would be complaint if I began filling in templates such as this one using AWB? It's not difficult - I can create the redlinked articles using Rokkadakatti as a template. It would fill out those settlement templates, and it would make life easier for a lot of people by eliminating a ton of manual work.
The Military history WikiProject coordinator election has started. You are cordially invited to help pick fourteen new coordinators from a pool of twenty candidates. This time round, the term has increased from six to twelve months so it is doubly important that you have your say! Please cast your vote here no later than 23:59 (UTC) on Tuesday, 28 September 2010.
I am a complete newbie in terms of content contribution to wikipedia, though I use it for information very regularly. I recently came to know about the wikipedia meetups that happen in bangalore. I am not sure if those meetups are only for experienced wikipedians.
Can you let me know if the meetup (scheduled on 24th) is open for guys like me (no contribution till now, but very much willing to become an active contributor)? If yes, please include me in the participants list and send me a confirmation.
Hello, I have completed a general cleanup of the adopter information page for the adopt-a-user project, located here. During my cleanup, I have removed several inactive and retired users. In order to provide interested adoptees with an easy location to find adopters, it is essential that the page be up-to-date with the latest information possible. Thus:
If you are no longer interested in being an adopter, please remove yourself from the list.
If you are still interested, please check the list to see if any information needs to be updated or added - especially your availability. Thank you.
You are receiving this message because you are listed as an adopter here.
Hi. :) User:Shrik88music has given me the go-ahead to find him a mentor (I've been encouraging him to seek adoption for a while), and I was thinking that perhaps you might be able to help? He seems to be primarily interested in Indian cinema, and I'm pretty sure English is not his first language. I believe that he is motivated, but is not fully understanding everything recommended to him. See, for instance, this note at the RSN. I had suggested he might go to that board; he made it to the talk page. Likewise, I told him about WP:DR, and he wound up at DRR's talk page. :/ Anyway, do you think you'd be up for helping him learn his way around? I am very pressed for time at the moment and have had some trouble communicating with him myself. If you're not up for it, please let me know, and I'll see if I can find somebody else who may be open for adopting. :) --Moonriddengirl(talk)19:43, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi. I see that you have edited just a little since I left this note, but have not perhaps had the chance to consider this or reply. I don't mean to be impatient, but please let me know as soon as you reasonably can whether you'd be willing or able to help out with this user. If you are not able, I will want to look for an alternative, as he is rather badly in need of assistance. Thanks. --Moonriddengirl(talk)15:06, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. :D I'll let him know to expect you. Sorry if I seemed pushy; he's just a bit urgent, so I wanted to get hunting for an alternative if you had too much else going on. --Moonriddengirl(talk)16:54, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
User:E. Ripley has agreed to give a hand as well. Coincidentally, he already responded to his section on the reliable sources talk page. He's got wide familiarity with the project and might be able to help steer Shrik88 in the right direction. --Moonriddengirl(talk)17:38, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
We are half-way through our final round, entering the home straight. TonyTheTiger (submissions) leads at the time of writing with 1180 points, immediately followed by Sasata (submissions) with 1175 points. Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) closely follows in third place with 1100 points. For those who are interested, data about the finalists has been compiled at Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/finalists, while a list of content submitted by all WikiCup contestants prior to this round has been compiled at Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/Submissions. As ever, anything contestants worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.
