Mm, I'd forgotten about that, good call. What do you mean look through the rest of the category? As in look for authors or look for more articles on random classic army airsoft guns? TheFSAviator • T23:20, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
When welcoming a user (like here), please could you substitute the welcome template, instead of just transcluding it - ie, please put {{subst:welcome}} instead of just {{welcome}}. Also, remember to sign with ~~~~ so they know who it is from.
Transclusion is when put a template in-between wiggly brackets - e.g. {{done}} - and it makes a copy of the page (in this case, Template:done) appear. It shows the current content of another page or template. If the template gets changed, then the display on the page will change. If you edit the page after saving, you'd see the same code you typed in, ie {{done}}.
Substitution—If, instead, you put 'subst' it makes a copy of the template at the time you save it. If you edit the page, you see that it contains a copy. If the template is changed, the page is not affected, because it was a copy taken at that time. If you edit the page later, you see the copy of the template - where you'd put {{subst:done}}, it'd be replaced by the actual content of that template. So, in that specific case, it'd have been changed to {{tick|18}} '''{{ucfirst:{{{1|Done}}}}}'''.
Welcome templates - and warning templates - should always be subst'd.
I have also declined your speedy on Sherard Reddick-Professional Athlete. The article wasn't much, I agree, but there is coverage for the person on Google News, and I've added a few things to the article and did some cleanup. While I don't wish to argue that this person is notable, or that the first version of the article showed much promise, I do wish to urge you to have a look at WP:BEFORE and not pull the trigger too quickly. If you wish to take the article to AfD, you're more than welcome. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 04:49, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You contacted me on RWJP's talk. A while ago I noticed a rather large error on Airsoft Guns regarding LPEG and MPEG. RWJP were brainstorming when he seemed to fall off the radar. Our conversation can be found [1]. I'd be glad to help with jump starting this project again. Drop a comment on my talk page if you're interested. Interesting convo, I myself have certainly never heard of those classifications so we may want to remove those. In fact, I'm starting to think we should seriously prune the airsoft articles anyway, considering they're all unsourced. Unfortunately it's quite hard to find any sort of published evidence on the mechanics of airsoft guns, only news coverage is the classic, "Kid shoots postman with airsoft gun" etc. TheFSAviator ( T • C ) 03:37, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think we could get by with using at least 5 and 6, although maybe we can use all of them and just save them for improving. At least that would get the tag off the page. If you think about it, there's no way we could improve the status of these articles without any sources.
A few more [7][8] I'm starting to find "low powered gun," but I know that I've ALWAYS seen it as "Low PRICED," not powered. MPEG is even worse, as it means mid priced, but according the page that would include a TM because of power.Halofanatic333 (talk) 12:41, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Airsoft
Hey there, I'm interested in helping get the Airsoft Project back up and running again. I also run my own airsoft wiki site. At the moment its just for the UK market but once it is finished I will be creating one either for the whole world or for USA, Asia etc. -- Paul Firmin17:18, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I saw Paul Firmin contacted you as well, i've done a little work on his Airsoft Wiki as well.
Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Adrianne Wadewitz Memorial edit-a-thons
Adrianne Wadewitz edit-a-thons in Southern New England
As you may have already heard, the Wikipedia community lost an invaluable member of the community last month. Adrianne Wadewitz was a feminist scholar of 18th-Century British literature, and a prolific editor of the site. As part of a worldwide series of tributes, New England Wikimedians, in conjunction with local institutions of higher learning, have created three edit-a-thons that will be occurring in May and June. The events are as follows:
We hope that you will be able to join us, whether you are an experienced editor or are using Wikipedia for the first time.

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
