Project template additions

I've just noticed that you'd started adding the WPVG template to the missing articles. Are you doing these by hand? Ever thought about asking for AWB permission? Video Game Review Templates

There is no rule that states that video game templates cannot be used to show reviews in TV articles. The template is quite a useful way to display the scores in the reviews quickly and it is effective in communicating how the episode was received by critics. I urge you not to revert any edits. So far, your arguments on the template is that it is not recommended and that it has the name "video game template." However, since it is not disallowed and no admin is preventing its use, there is currently no authority to remove its usage. Removal of "TThe Binding of Isaac (video game)" & Editing of the "Reception" on rebirth.

Why was this typo removed? I see no reason in it not existing. If someone accidentally clicks the "T/t" button twice it should go to the destination wanted, not to a "This page doesn't exist". Also, I didn't just add the user reviews, I also added another part to it, the PS4 version of Rebirth should also have its reviews shown, I can see why you removed the user reviews but I cannot see why the PS4 one was removed. @Anarchyte: I proposed deletion because it seems like an implausible redirect. It's unlikely that people would misspell one of the most common 3 letters words in the English language without realising their mistake. Running With Rifles Ideas

Hello and thank you for your help with my recently created page.
I was wondering if you could upload the logo of the game so that the page would feel and look better. I don't know how to put the correct copyright material, etc onto Wikipedia so if you could do it that would be great.

@Anarchyte: Version history lists shouldn't be included at all. You should try to summarise development in a paragraph. Write about the notable changes or additions that were made during the process. Take a look at the video game article guidelines and some of the articles on the list of Good video game content. @Tripple-ddd: I've not removed them. Just hiding them temporarily while we figure out a way to better structure the article. It looks bad when there are too many images squashing the text. The Nintendo article doesn't show every Nintendo console (even though we have free images of all of them) because it would overwhelm and clutter the article. --10:29, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Removal of Distribution from infobox video game on Lost Saga's page?

What was the purpose of this? Why was it removed? Isn't it important that Distribution Mediums remain a part of the general information? I've checked plenty of other pages, and nowhere do I see the general consensus to go about deleting the Distribution aspect of the infobox video game. A helpful answer would be nice.

@MontgomeryDalton: If you want to then go ahead, but it's nothing to worry about it. There's around 20,000 video game articles with an infobox on. Loads of them have defunct parameters. They just won't show up once the article is updated. Eventually someone (like myself) or a bot will come along and clean it up. I'm using a semi-automated tool to speed up the process as this stuff can get pretty tedious and take a long time when there are thousands of articles to deal with. --The1337gamer (talk) 23:58, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

  • @Anarchyte: I've rated it Start for now. Most of the sections seem quite brief and I'm sure they could be expanded with more details. By the way, when you create an article, you can just leave it unassessed. Add the project template and somebody else can assess it for you if you are not sure. Also, it's best not to assess articles that you contribute to significantly. Pre-emptive Fallout 4 protection?

Just to jump in here, you could request it, but I doubt they would go for it unless you find am administration who likes Fallout. What, exactly, is breaking? The "default continuation mode" for action=query requests to api.php will be changing to be easier for new coders to use correctly. To find out whether your script or bot may be affected, then search the source code (including any frameworks or libraries) for the string "query-continue". If that is not present, then the script or bot is not affected. In a few cases, the code will be present but not used. In that case, the script or bot will continue working.

This change will be part of 1.26wmf12. It will be deployed to test wikis (including mediawiki.org) on 30 June, to non-Wikipedias (such as Wiktionary) on 1 July, and to all Wikipedias on 2 July 2015.

If your bot or script is receiving the warning about this upcoming change (as seen at https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages ), it's time to fix your code!

Either of the above solutions may be tested immediately, you'll know it works because you stop seeing the warning.

Lucas the Game Page Issues

Thanks for your recent edit, for explaining the role of the bot. However, someone wrongly deleted two images which should have not been. The artist who owns the right has given permission. The cover image and a screenshot were deleted. Now, I've managed to get the developer to publicly post permission for use, which you can view here:

@Robotreality: Going by the bot's edit summary, it seem that images were deleted from the Commons for copyright violation. If you are uploading images to Wikimedia Commons, make sure that the author's permission is satisfactory under the acceptable licenses listed at Commons:Licensing. Evidence of permission needs to be provided on the file's page. Alternatively, non-free video game art and screenshots can be uploaded to Wikipedia for identification purposes provided that they satisfy Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. --The1337gamer (talk) 23:30, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

The fan forums link that was removed was completely understandable for the time it was removed. However, in the latest KickStarter update for the project the forums were shown to soon be official. Can we now include a link to those forums? The admin account is in the hands of FanGamer who are officially staff of the Bloodstained game.

@MikeyMc: Currently no, because it is not official yet. Here is a link to the Wikipedia's guideline on external links (Wikipedia:External links). Fansites and forums are links to be avoided, although this case may fall under an official link when that happens. Generally, I'm against including even official forum links on video game articles as other more appropriate official links are usually available and I don't find the majority of forum content to be particularly useful or informative. So I would recommend opening a discussion about its inclusion on the game's talk page (Talk:Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night) to see what other editors think. --The1337gamer (talk) 11:32, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

NBA 2K16

Can you say something directly instead of referring me to links? Having read what you provided, I think having all the covers is justified. I think NBA 2K12 having all the covers would be justified for the same reason. Having all covers makes the article better. What harm does it do having the pictures in the article while they can be put in the article (while they are uploaded and have not been deleted)? I think one cover is absolutely fine. However, if you can use all four, why wouldn't you? The reasonings are stupid (things like "it is preferred"). Not a big deal either way. —DangerousJXD (talk) 09:28, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

@DangerousJXD: WP:VGBOX clearly states "Cover art is used as identifying artwork in the game's infobox, generally, only one cover should be present, regardless of platform or regional differences." Secondly, all of these images are copyrighted, which means Wikipedia has to abide by United States Copyright law so they don't get sued or in legal trouble. This means that all non-free content (such as these images) must satisfy Wikipedia's policy on non-free content. And official Wikipedia policy states that we should minimize the amount of non-free content. Four pieces of cover art is certainly not minimal usage. The purpose of cover art is for identification and one artwork fulfils that purpose meaning all the other do not have satisfactory rational for use. Any differences such as the athlete featured on the cover can be explained in words if necessary. And lastly, the way these images were presented in the article makes it a non-free image gallery, which is also generally unacceptable under Wikipedia policy. --The1337gamer (talk) 09:50, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

@Freshness For Lettuce: Wikipedia:When to cite is an essay, not a policy or guideline. It also says "may not require a citation", not "doesn't require a citation". As listed at WP:V (which is Wikipedia policy), all content must be verifiable. Unsourced content can be challenged, and in this case it has been challenged. WP:BURDEN states that the person who restores the material (which is you) must provide a citation to a reliable source. A {{cn}} tag could be added, but editors are completely justified in removing unsourced content. As the article has already achieved Good Article status, such maintenance tags should not be present for article remain assessed as Good Article. Your edit summaries say that it is easily verifiable, so why don't you just provide a reliable source instead of resorting to edit warring? --The1337gamer (talk) 12:42, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
Of course it is an essay, though it is a righteous essay. What counts as a "challenge" isn't defined in WP:V, and "unsourced" is a silly reason to delete such obvious information that adds a lot to "Gameplay", which is barren. A Good Article can't have "citation needed", but if the information that would have "citation needed" would improve the article, being unsuitable for Good Article is fine. It was challenged when MarkHoris reverted your edit, the inclusion of this information without a reliable source. I don't care if you think removing unsourced information is silly, policy covers it and with good reason. While adding citations and references is tedious on a mobile device, it is not an excuse to continue restoring unsourced information. There are plenty of mobile editors who provide citations and reliable sources to all the information they add to articles. If you really can't add inline citations efficiently, then you can provide a link to a reliable source for the information on the talk page, and another editor can add it to the article. A citation needed tag is not a substitute for providing a reliable source. Still undefined what is the criteria for a "challenge". There is no need to do the page move requests the way you're doing... Instead use the WP:CSD process. Specifically on the top of the page where you want the content moved to, but there is already a page preventing a move do the following:

One of the rules is that students are not allowed to edit the mainspace before they have received permission from me and from the WikiEd team. @Skullpanda86: You are misunderstanding me. This isn't a sourcing issue. The template doc says only to add engines to the infobox if they have a separate Wikipedia article. For example Unreal Engine and id Tech have articles on Wikipedia. I'm just having a bit of trouble with re-inserting the infobox, which got messed up a few times, similar to the Toki Tori page that I'm still trying to fix (as I'm typing this here). But what concerns me is every time I see the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U Wiki page show up on my email. I checked out the changes and the changes are sometimes spam posts, like the Shrek spam that I keep seeing. That needs to stop. Hey—would you be interested in working on Lara Croft Go with me? New game page needs a review

Atwar was a name redirect that has been taken over for an article on the AtWar game. Since it was an existing redirect the article never went through a new article review. I've removed the worst (refs to wikipedia, social media links, highest scores, etc.) and added a few maintenance tags, but it needs much more work and the authors are ignoring the tags. It looks to me as if there is way too much chatty detail, and almost no reliable, independent sources, but I'm not a games article person so I don't know where to look for better sources or what is normal content. Divinity: Original Sin 2 on consoles

Hello there, the source is in the Enchanced edition of Divinity: Original Sin 1. According to the release of the consoles edition, this indicates that they will in fact release a Divinity: Original Sin 2 enhanced edition to the consoles, there is no doubts that they will launch a console edition soon after the PC version. 179.210.81.233 (talk) 19:21, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
