World War II and the history of Jews in Poland: Arbitration case openedHello ThadeusOfNazereth, You recently offered a statement in a request for arbitration. The Arbitration Committee has accepted that request for arbitration and an arbitration case has been opened at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/World War II and the history of Jews in Poland. Evidence that you wish the arbitrators to consider should be added to the evidence subpage, at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/World War II and the history of Jews in Poland/Evidence. Please add your evidence by April 04, 2023, which is when the first evidence phase closes. Submitted evidence will be summarized by Arbitrators and Clerks at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/World War II and the history of Jews in Poland/Evidence/Summary. Owing to the summary style, editors are encouraged to submit evidence in small chunks sooner rather than more complete evidence later. Details about the summary page, the two phases of evidence, a timeline and other answers to frequently asked questions can be found at the case's FAQ page. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews! October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here. PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon. Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD. Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge. Reminders:

Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points. Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive. Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion. It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated! 2023 Awards Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. I noticed you have identified yourself as a member of WikiProject Anarchism in your user page, but you don't appear to have been very active in this subject area for some time. Just in case you're still interested, here's a little update:
If you want to get more involved in the project, please feel free! We always need an extra pair of hands to help out with our ever-growing project. If you want to help out with one of the above efforts, go right ahead. If you want to keep more up to date with the project's activities, consider adding our noticeboard to your watchlist or adding your name to our mailing list. On the other hand, if you think you're time with the project is over, then consider removing the category from your user page, but we do hope you're still interested in our wee project. All the best to you, whatever your future plans are. DYK for Jeffrey VereggeOn 9 June 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Jeffrey Veregge, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that S'Klallam artist Jeffrey Veregge's "Salish Geek" style blended traditional formline art techniques with bright colors and pop culture references? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jeffrey Veregge. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Jeffrey Veregge), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. Request on 23:17:58, 14 October 2024 for assistance on AfC submission by Deviltakethehindmost
Hi! I based a lot of my links off what was on the page for Ted Keegan, another Broadway actor who played the Phantom of the Opera. Just out of curiosity, what is it that allowed Keegan's page to be published that this one lacks? Thank you so much! Sorry if I phrased that wrong, I appreciate your help! :) Deviltakethehindmost (talk) 23:17, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
Michael GoveHi, the reason for removing the book was because the author is currently the subject of thread at WP:COIN, here [1] and seems to have been involved in a lot of self-citation. In the case in point I must admit I'm at a loss as to what the relevance of the book is to the subject, but it must be of only passing relevance at best given that the book is a text on psychopharmacology. I'd be interested in your thoughts here. Kind regards, Axad12 (talk) 13:52, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
Administrator Elections: Candidate instructions Administrator Elections | Instructions for candidates
Thank you for choosing to run in the October 2024 administrator elections. This bulletin contains some important information about the next stages of the election process. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:
We are currently in the SecurePoll setup phase. Your candidate subpage will remain closed to questions and discussion. However, this is an excellent opportunity for you to recruit nominators (if you want them) and have them place their nomination statements, and a good time for you to answer the standard three questions, if you have not done so already. We recommend you spend the SecurePoll setup phase from October 15–21 getting your candidate page polished and ready for the next phase. The discussion phase will take place from October 22–24. Your candidate subpage will open to the public and they will be permitted to discuss you and ask you formal questions, in the same style as a request for adminship (RfA). Please make sure you are around on those dates to answer the formal questions in a timely manner. On October 25, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. Anyone can see who has voted, but not who they voted for. You are permitted and encouraged to vote in the election, including voting for yourself. Please note that the vote tallies cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see your tally during the election. The suffrage requirements are different from those at RfA. Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for an indeterminate amount of time, perhaps a week or two. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, you must have received at least 70% support, calculated as support ÷ (support + oppose). As this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("'crat chats"). Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation as a candidate, and best of luck.
You're receiving this message because you are a candidate in the October 2024 administrator elections.

As we're preparing to move from one stage to the next, this is just a quick note from one member of the test group to another, wishing you well in the process of this new alternative to RfA. It seems that there are more of us in this group than some in the community anticipated, so i hope that doesn't make the experience any the worse for all of us. Whatever our individual results, i thank you, along with the rest, for stepping up and testing this process; happy days, ~ LindsayHello 07:13, 21 October 2024 (UTC) Women in Red November 2024

Remove link vs entryHey @ThadeusOfNazereth, first of all, congratulations on the successful RfA. I noticed Canadians one of your edits come up in my watchlist. After closing an AfD, you removed a link in the see also section of Ukrainian Canadians. This is a situation where you would have been better off to choose the option to remove the line entirely, as opposed to just unlink, because we certainly can't see also if the article has been deleted. Just something to keep in mind moving forward. Thanks for your work closing AfDs! Hey man im josh (talk) 16:06, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

DYK for Dan RossiOn 10 November 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Dan Rossi, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. I understand that you say it was created by a banned user but it seems a bit extreme completely deleting a whole article when obviously other people would have also contributed. I also read this article previously and saw not significant issues with it. Reallygreatoaktree (talk) 09:48, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter messageHello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add Stub templatesOver at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2024 November 10#Template:Football-stub, template stubs are nominated at CFD; Not TFD. It states so on the main CFD page. WikiCleanerMan (talk) 02:52, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
The consensus may have been that the category be kept. But there was not a consensus on the name of the kept category. The norm is definitely not capitalized A for Anarchists. Can you please reopen this to get consensus on the name. This now can't be speedy renamed based on the parents. SMasonGarrison 03:23, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
Deleting pagesHello, ThadeusOfNazereth, When you are deleting pages, please do not forget to also delete any talk pages or redirects that point to the deleted page. This is made easiest if you use Twinkle to delete pages, whether CSD-tagged pages or PRODs. Twinkle will delete any talk pages (if one is present) as well as redirects to the deleted page but you will have to check and see if there is a redirect to the talk page. I've complained about this feature at WT:TWINKLE but fixing this is low on their priority list of things to do. But otherwise, we wind up with extra "orphaned talk pages" which then have to be taken care of. I hope that I've explained this sufficiently. I realize that you are a new administrator and getting used to the whole routine. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 20:36, 24 November 2024 (UTC)

--Lajmmoore (talk 18:47, 29 November 2024 (UTC) via MassMessaging InfinitefuturemanagementHi, Thadeus. I noticed that you blocked Infinitefuturemanagement for a day for In addition, {{uw-softerblock}} (your block notice) doesn't really work with blocking account creation (ACB), as the template tells them to create a new account. Generally speaking, if you wish to carry out a soft block (because you think that they're here in good faith), you should allow account creation and disable autoblock (and vice versa for bad-faith situations like {{uw-spamublock}}).
