Tip: If your making lots of small changes to a page, rather then clicking "Save page" for every change to see how it looks, Use "Show preview" between changes. When you have done editing a page for the time being, then you click "Save page". The reason for this is so you don’t make a save for every little thing you change, thus creating more revisions than necessary. For more information, ask your teacher or contact me on my talk page .
Tip: When you make a change to an article page, its good practice to fill out the Edit summary field. The edit summary field is a small text box above the Save Page button where you can briefly describe the changes you have made. The reason this is good practice is it tells other users what you changed without them having to view the revision. It also makes it easy to find a particuler edit in the page history should you wish to UNDO an edit or see the date of a change.

Good point, "citation needed" tags have been removed. However, I am not sure who removed the list of clubs. They should be brought back some way or another.

Hello, I was just going to drop by and ask you a quick question, if you do not mind. When you asked if the image from the Brain ischemia infobox should be at the top are you suggesting that I should move it down by Focal ischemia? Okay, so when you fix your GA review suggestions are you supposed to mark them out or something, because I fixed mine and then it said Brain ischemia was a GA nominee or whatever and can be resubmitted once the suggestions are fixed. It doesn't really matter whether you check them off or not: I do it simply to show that I'm working on it and making progress. Your article was failed, it appears, for a few reasons, but mostly because it really isn't GA ready. As random examples:
As per the first point on Talk:Brain ischemia/GA1, the article still lacks depth/breadth. History section needs a bit more information, among other things.
The article needs a substantial copyedit: I pseudo-started to, but I really don't have the time. The overall diction is a bit colloquial and basic, at least for my tastes (and I think Doc's too) and there's a lot of information that doesn't really belong, such as the information on the "other" types of ischemia.
Some jargon needs definition: such as the various categorizations of stroke in the Classification section, among other things.
Treatment desperately needs more info.
Some statements are made, but never really amount to anything. For instance, under Research, you mention a correlation between effects and type of ischemia, but don't really go into any depth about that. Avoid superficiality.
The bit about hypoxia seems...random at best. It really shouldn't be under Research. Avoid tangents.
Sorry if this seems a bit critical -- I'm on a 5 hour studying binge at this point, and my brain is fried. I think what really killed you was your prose: print the article out and beat the hell out of it, rephrasing and moving things around until it feels like a complete, solid draft that you'd be willing to turn in for a grade. If you're still interested in working on the article, once AP's are over, I'll pitch in and actually do some solid editing for you. Hit me up on here, or in class, if you have any questions. I presume your comment is in regards to the rather unfunny vandalism, not the overall horrific quality of the writing of that article. As you've already realized and commented on on the talk page, a "zero tolerance" policy is indubitably best. Hopefully it was a one-time thing. Otherwise, kick his manus. No problem asking me, if I don't know the answer, I can probably at least point you somewhere in the right direction. I honestly have not heard of the condition, but a quick search on the terms in Google pops up Osteodystrophia fibrosas in relationship to animals, and both terms in relationship to horses. Example here I'd have to do more research to tell you if this is the same thing or not. I've some passing familiarity with pedal osteitis (a vet thought a horse of mine had it, but she also may have had laminitis, which has similar clinical signs), but I don't think that's the same thing at all. The Google search "Osteitis fibrosa cystica horse" brought some particularly interesting results, including an excerpt from Google books that I'd access if I wasn't stuck out in the country on a dialup... I know this isn't a lot of help, but some. We used to have a couple horse vets on WPEQ (Getwood was a great resource) but they don't appear to be active any more. Wish I was of more help here. Did a search within The Horse Online, a vet-info publication and found this on an article about how a diet too heavy in bran can accidentally induce an imbalance beween calcium and phosphorus in horses: "...Although the whole skeletal system is affected, in growing horses the effect of such a calcium deficiency is most noticeable in the growth plates of the cervical vertebrae and the legs, resulting in a form of developmental orthopedic disease (DOD). In young, mature horses, it is most obvious as an enlargement of the facial bones--a condition officially labeled osteodystrophia fibrosa, but more commonly known as "big head disease" for obvious reasons. Link to article is [1] You have to register, but registration is free. Same source had no results for Osteitis fibrosa cystica, but putting both terms together in a single Google search gave me results that suggests that the terms are either interchangable or very close. One may be an archaic term for the other, note date of this article. See here, which is an iffy source, but a start. For animal info, Cornell University vet school is a top-notch facility and may have info, as would New Bolton vet school at U Penn, where they tried to save Barbaro. Good luck with your project! Alright, so a short test run resulted in at least one result. I'm starting to think, however, that I could have had close to the same success at Croatan by using pubmed in conjunction with NCLIVE/EBESCO perhaps you could have a librarian explain to your class how to actually use a journal database? Sorry for my late arrival to the show! UNC does have an impressive list of accessible journals - we get articles from both specific journals (psych, medicine, chemistry, biology, social sciences etc.) as well as journal databases (elsevier). If any of your students need a specific journal, I will be more than happy to pull a couple PDFs and email them. Any idea of who is / isn't serious in the class yet?
