Hi. Thanks for reminding me of this debate! I had not put it on my watchlist but I was happy to weigh in again. I do find it a bit sad that such harmless categories come up for deletion. I think editors tend to forget that we can try and accomodate both our ambition of becoming a perfectly decent encyclopedia and our de facto status as a provider of fun trivia-like content. Go ahead and delete TETRIX from the 'tetrix' section repeatedly, but it doesn't change the fact that they exist. I have never emailed you (let alone "threatening"ly), nor would I know how to, not being privy to your email address, something that is necessary in order to do so. Nor have I ever deleted a page on Wikipedia, not being able to do that either. I did tag a talk page for speedy deletion, because it was irrelevant and unencyclopedic. I also removed an external spam link from a disambiguation page, as it blatantly violated policy. If you can show your band's notability, by all means create an article for them. My semi-sarcastic remark above was merely a suggestion that you act with a little more rationality. The bug - was it the extra wikistrophe (wiki apostrophe) at the end of "Nkwala"? I only meant to italicize that, not bold it, as there's supposed to be an apostrophe on the end of the name - representing a glottal stop I'd guess, or perhaps an accent. I don't know the current native orthography for this name, and it could be different in Nlaka'pamux, Okanagan and Shuswap respectively anyway, as all their latinization systems are somewhat different. Anyway, I can't say if it should be a rhythm-accent or a phoneme, but I was trying to spell it as in my source (James A. Diabetes

I initially wrote a short intro, which just grew over time. When you pointed this out, I simply reverted back to my old intro.

I think tags on the page itself should only be used if the article is presently not compliant with WP:NPOV, WP:NOR or WP:V, our prime content policies (e.g. {{unreferenced}}). Guidelines should IMHO not be enforced on the article page. But we've already crossed swords over this. Let me know if any other medical articles have outrageous intros. There aren't any obvious conflicts in your monobook.js; did you remember to bypass your cache? (This is the most common reason for the counter not to work; I've even forgotten myself sometimes.) --ais523 07:39, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Try adding

addOnloadHook(function(){ecAddTab("javascript:alert('This is a test');","ca-test","test","");});

to the end of your monobook.js (after my script); this should cause a 'test' tab to appear on all pages. This might help to narrow down the cause of the problem. --ais523 15:41, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Doubled tabs normally means that there's a runtime error in a script somewhere. I'd be reasonably surprised if the small portion of my code that creates the tab contains an error that hasn't been detected by other users, so either I've made a typo in the test above (which would seem to be contradicted by the IE results), or there's an incompatibility in one of the other scripts. I would have expected two purge tabs and two test tabs, though, so I'm not entirely sure about this. --ais523 16:00, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Your commenting-out didn't work properly, searching for the string '/* Intro */' may reveal why (comments don't nest in JavaScript), so that test won't work. As this is a wiki, you could try blanking the other scripts and then reverting in the usual fashion once the test is complete. --ais523 16:14, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Out of the 102 users in the 'what links here' (last I checked), many use Firefox; although I don't have it myself, User:Shardsofmetal once contacted me about another of my scripts not working in Firefox, and they also use the counter, so it would be a bit strange if it didn't work in Firefox and nobody had told me yet. I could understand if it was only the non-Firefox Mozilla that didn't work, but I'm as confused as you are now. --ais523 16:39, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Scouts

You're right, putting OA into the main part of the Eagle article would be out of scope for the article. In See also, maybe, I'll mull it over. As for the ogg file, I've never listened to one. What software will run an ogg file? You seem involved in Scouting, feel free to join on our project page. As for the OA, read over the talk page first, there've been constant debates over is content. In that case, I do think it should go into the See Also section, since OA (at least Brotherhood and VH) is the other high distinction in BSA, that isn't Rank based. I was involved in Scouting, and became an Eagle Scout, but I prefer not to join Wikiprojects. I'm also no longer involved with BSA at all... at most, what I'll do is make a few minor additions to articles, speak articles, and maybe upload some photos of content that Wikipedia doesn't currently have. Any contributions you make to the Scouting articles would be appreciated. The Eagle article is our first spoken one. I made a category to hold it and future ones: "Scouting spoken word files". Let me know if you do more scout ones. I thought your reading was excellent. The only thing I noticed, and it's very minor, is the article said August 21 but you said 21 August. There was no noise or static in the spoken version, pace was steady, no sighs or gasps (something I'd be very guilty of), no accent other than standard American, steady speed. See my About page if you'd like to copy the Eagle Scout user box onto your user page. I installed the codecs and merely associated them with Windows Media Player. No worries, I enjoy doing them. I was planning on doing a few more, but there were slight problems that would hinder them being recorded right now. I really want to do Witold Pilecki next, but some slight pronunciation issues affect that... Though I can guess for most words, I'll have to ask a Polish friend of mine for letters (& sequences) like ż, czny, lwó, Wł, ę, rzą, etc. I'll also have a go at Gilwell Park. The other two I probably won't do: the merit badge history article is full of tables that wouldn't lend itself well to being read, and I have very little interest in the controversy. I just had a second look at the merit badge history page, and on second thoughts, it could probably be done ok by just reading the right-hand column of the tables. Most of the rest looks pretty straight forward. So I guess I'll be doing that after the other two. Sorry if bothered you. I invited everyone who at one point or other edited the artcile. And, that includes you, too (see here). You seemed quite willing back then to decide on the future of the article (merge with Dhaka), and when I was posting the request I had no clue that you know absolutely nothing about the subject. Sorry about posting it twice as well. That was a mistake that happened when I was posting to everyone by copying and pasting the same request.

I have been building up the Shahbag article ever since I stumbled on to your merge proposal. Ita has gone through one peer review already, and has been helped by quite a few editors by now. Not rushing anything (even FAs got serious flaws) I just was trying get all the help possible.

I hope you realize that it was not totally random and impersonal, and certainly not spam (my, that's a tough word to use). May be in your crusade against spam you have become accustomed to see spam everywhere. I apologize all the way for adding to your woes. I came across this page Complete list of Phobias during RCP. As has been noted on its talk page, the same page exists on Full list of phobias. Both have copyvio issues, which have been there for quite a while now.

I wanted to request you to have a look at the page(s) whenever you have a minute, because I believe the list would be useful. Not in the way it is right now, but after converting wikilinks, cleaning up the list and getting permission from the original site, I feel it would be a useful addition to WP.

Please do have a look, whether its possible to keep one of the two pages.
