Phil Mac Giolla Bhain and use of pending changes review

A while back, I put pending changes on the article Phil Mac Giolla Bhain following repeated and recurring violations of the biographies of living persons policy. In this edit which you reviewed and approved, an IP editor uses the phrase "peddled" to describe the views of a journalist. This really is not an appropriate description to use of a Wikipedia subject and is far from being either neutral or BLP-compliant. Please try and be more careful when reviewing pending changes on articles about living people in the future. —Tom Morris (talk) 13:15, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

re SNL

Hi there, Cirt! During your peer review of Saturday Night Live, you mentioned that it would be best to do away with Controversies entirely and merge it into the History section. Well I took another route and split the entire section into its own article, Saturday Night Live incidents, while expanding on content and sources. Was wondering if this all seems to be fine. Spam

Referring to MoonKnight Networks (deleted), anything that written in the first person (I, we, our) is very likely to be spam, and anything that contains a telephone number is 99.99% certain to be spam. And most things copied from company websites are spammy as well - that's what a company sit is for, isn't it? I've added it to the deletion reasons (copyvio and attack are the most urgent deletion reasons, followed by spam and hoax - anything else like lack of significance comes further down the priorities). When you find a CorenBot (or other copyvio reporting bot) report, check it out and add it into a db-multiple tag. It's easy to do in Twinkle (but complicated otherwise...). When reviewing, don't forget to CSD tag anything that's copyvio, attack, hoax or pure spam. We had a lot of stuff in the old AfC that fell into these four categories and got left there for years. Those aren't allowed anywhere (except for the store of hoaxes for certain good ones, and a few pages clearly labelled as 'humour' created by well-establised editors - and not in article space). Stuff that's a promo in places but otherwise notable can be rewritten if it's only a few bits. If it's rotten to the core, tag it. Peridon (talk) 12:18, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

So you're saying articles like MoonKnight Networks need to be tagged as G11 as well as A7? I will take that into consideration. I probably need a bit more reading on the speedy criteria anyway. StewdioMACK ^Talk page 16:46, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

Oh yes, tag for anything that's appropriate. Some combinations are extremely unlikely, like spam with attack, or spam with hoax, but A7 with spam and copyvio is quite common. Watch out for art-spam - an apparently neutral article (but often on a subject we've already got) with a concealed spam link, or just a link at the end - to a commercial site. Also, there are frequent things about cars that link to Toyota cars - tag them spam on sight. I block the authors on sight (possibly spambots, and definitely needing their IPs blocking anyway to slow them down). Any questions about CSD, don't be afraid to ask. And if you want a second opinion - or a different view - ask DGG or Kudpung. Peridon (talk) 22:18, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

Ether One screenshot

Good work on contacting White Paper, but have you considered asking for more images? Most video game articles only show one small screenshot because they are limited by our non-free content policy. But you can use as many free images as you like, Fez for example has free images, video and sound. We have a growing collection of free images at Commons:Historical and commercial video games, it'd be great to see more from Ether One. Infobox

Since it really isn't mandatory, and the infobox only uses that as a suggestion. Then if you must change it, please change the other seasons so that they are all the same. It seems odd that you would pick a single page and change that. Thanks.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 01:49, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

I've just been through some featured season articles, and I'm astonished that there's not a standard yet. Parks and Recreation (season 1) uses what I think is correct, as does Supernatural (season 1) and Supernatural (season 2). But Homicide: Life on the Street (season 1) and Homicide: Life on the Street (season 2) uses your syntax. I think the former method looks nicer and cleaner, so I'll change the other Smallville articles (and the other featured articles). StewdioMACK ^Talk page 01:56, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

Apps with both OS X and iOS flavors

For Photos (application), I was following the way Messages (application) is currently written, although I didn't have time to do a full-blown "iOS version" section. If you think it best to have one infobox for all the apps with both OS X and iOS versions, go ahead; presumably the version, release date, platform, etc. fields will have both OS X and iOS information.

The apps I know of in that category are Photos (application), Messages (application), Calendar (Mac OS), Contacts (Mac OS), iBooks, Mail (application), Apple Maps (although that covers both the service and the applications; perhaps a Messages (application) vs. iMessage split is called for there), Notes (application), Photo Booth, Reminders (application), Safari (web browser), iLife and its GarageBand/iMovie/former iPhoto components, and iWork and its Keynote (presentation software)/Numbers (spreadsheet)/Pages (word processor) components. Some have two infoboxes, some have one.

(BTW, Calendar (application) just redirects to Calendar (Mac OS), and Contacts (application) just redirects to Contacts (Mac OS), so the two could be swapped, leaving "XXX (Mac OS)" as a redirect to a page named "XXX (application)"; it might just be possible to rename "XXX (Mac OS)" to "XXX (application)", with MediaWiki figuring out what's going on, doing the rename, and creating the new redirect, or it might require some administrator's help.) @Guy Harris: I'm actually thinking the "Mac OS" apps should be renamed to "Apple", perhaps? Like "Calendar (Apple)", for example. The others ("Notes (application)") could be renamed to "____ (Apple) for consistency.

As for the infoboxes, I think it looks nicer to have one infobox (it's a bit cluttered the way it is) and will merge the infoboxes into one on all appropriate articles. Thanks for the response! Speedy deletion nomination of File:Sinead O'Connor rips a picture of the Pope.jpg

History of Saturday Night Live (1975–80) edit conflict

Well, first, I'm not sure what changes you were making (I didn't see anything on talk page), but I was making some improvements for style mostly in the cast lists, and when I saved it there was a conflict. I tried to restore the changes you made, but it seems I readded some that you removed. If you make those changes again, please don't change back my edits. @Musdan77: Yeah, sorry about that. I was making a large amount of changes to the article and basically giving it a complete neatening and restructuring (making it immaculate like History of Saturday Night Live (1995–2000)): I was doing it in the article space at first, but then wised up and took the whole thing to my sandbox and tidied it there before making the edit. I reverted your edit because it seems to have restored a lot of the poor points of the article that I fixed with my edit (if you want I can go into more detail about the structure I think it should have). Okay, I think I know what happened now. At first, I was pretty upset when you just reverted everything, but I understand now. I just want to let you know that one main thing that I fixed was the use of bold type, which is definitely not correct. Footnotes like that (in an encyclopedia) should use asterisks or symbols like †, ‡, §. --Musdan77 (talk) 18:13, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Thanks. I was on the way to doing that myself, but it would take me awhile. The links for "Weekend Update" really shouldn't be repeated per WP:REPEATLINK.
