4 Seasons / Frankie Valli

Trying not to be offensive, I dislike greatly that you and others, working for Wikipedia or not, find little worth in keeping to the titles of recorded music releases as released. One of your reasons is that titles are correct as seen or described on the internet somehow denotes correct or common/agreed upon usage (i.e., the 'girls girls girls...' release. We must throw in dashes or hyphens or colons that never existed in the first place). Flimsy reasoning to me. I can agree that an artist's name is not necessarily a part of a title of a work. The sledgehammer approach to editing without discussion (common for Wikipedia) bothers me because it indicates a "superiority" as if there must be one approach. We must all bow and fall on the sword to individual arbiters or Wikipedia standards. For me, you can have it the way you want. I spent a lot of time on the 4 Seasons/Valli pages and only feel disgust at the emphasis of the one, true way attitude that exists and defeats the idea that we cannot and must not treat some things the way they really exist. So, I won't be editing these pages anymore. I have my private collection that is my enjoyment and was the source of much of my writings. ARIA Charts

Hey, I just noticed that when you added the certification to the Wanted on Voyage article, you linked back to the ARIA Charts page with 3148. The ID for each chart is individual for singles, albums, Australian artist singles, etc. To get the ID you have to press the "WATCH THE CHART" button above the chart and just take the last four numbers of the URL and chuck it onto the end of "http://www.ariacharts.com.au/chart/singles". However, this only works for singles charts because there is no watch the chart option for albums. I've changed it to the ARIA news article now (http://www.ariacharts.com.au/news/49699/mark-ronson-and-bruno-mars-become-the-first-#1-of-2015), but for other new album certifications or entries I guess you'll just have to wait for Noise11 to update. — Usfun8991 (talk) 07:37, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Oh okay, that makes sense. I just looked through the ARIA Code of Practice and it says that the sales week goes from Friday to Thursday so that explains why they have the charts available on Friday. The reason why they only release the charts later is probably because they have the Take 40 Australia radio show on Saturday that counts down to the official chart release, most likely because it cannot fit in between other scheduled radio shows during weekdays. — Usfun8991 (talk) 15:55, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I believe they are totally incomplete, for example the Czech Album Chart in 2013 is missing IFPI Link. Maybe you can find some more chart position for the album in various years - also the year-end and end of decade chart. I know for a fact that the album peaked #7 in South Korea Gaon chart in 2012. But sadly it isn't on the web page. Here is the source that I have. Cilla Black

Hi Ss112. The 1983 vey best of was a 20 track album that was released on vinyl (not CD). It was then expanded and re-released on CD in 2013 with 26 tracks. The official charts company headline describing the album as re-entering the top 20 is because it is essentially the same album (all 20 tracks from the 1983 release are on the 2013 release), but it is the 2013 CD that has re-entered the charts. Hi Ss112 and L1975p. I produced the 2013 career-spanning compilation album with Cilla to celebrate her 50th Anniversary in showbiz. It featured in chronological order all of Cilla's UK hits plus other key tracks, specially commissioned remixes and a DVD all wrapped up with original sleeve artwork. Of course, there are similarities between past 'greatest hits' packages but that said compilers (like myself) usually want to include an artist's biggest hits -- that doesn't however mean that every compilation thereafter should be referred to as an expanded release! An expanded album is one where you keep the original album's track list and run order - simply adding bonus tracks to the end (although similar the 1983 album has a different track list and run order). Usually you also keep the original artwork as ultimately you want fans who bought the original release to recognise an "expanded" edition of their favourite album. My CD re-issue of THE BEST OF CILLA from 1968 was a classic example of this situation as it was indeed an "expanded" edition. However, THE VERY BEST OF CILLA BLACK from 2013 was a new compilation (http://www.cillablack.com/discography/the-very-best-of-cilla-black/) which all concerned spent a lot of time producing (it's a pity we didn't keep the original title of THE 50th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION but this was changed last minute as it was deemed better to have a title which would not date over time -- initial set's pressed did contain CDs and DVDs stating the original title which I suspect would have prevented this misunderstanding). The ONLY reason the Official Charts Company referred to the album as an "expanded edition" of the 1983 release in one of their articles after Cilla's passing was because the journalist read the misinformation about the album published on Wikipedia. As you will see on the Official Charts Company website and the British Phonographic Industry's website they list separately both albums as they do indeed consider the 1983 and 2003 as "separate" releases which concurs with what I have explained here. Everyone involved in the 2013 album was most disappointed when we discovered where the misinformation originated from but that is essentially the downside of having people who are not even involved in the record industry or these projects writing articles which are based on what they presume and not actual fact. Separating the good from the bad

I apologize for wiping out your constructive editing with my revert. When a series of poor edits is followed by a constructive one, I do make efforts to reinstate the good edits as I did at Doris Roberts, here [4] and here [5], and at Being Mary Jane, here [6] and here [7]. (On the last one I manually did the search and replace required to make each of the colour changes.)

Unfortunately, in this case there was a large tangle of constructive edits and vandalism, and I did not take the time to sort it all out. Again, I apologize. You can help prevent future problems by checking the edit history before making changes, to see if there are edits that should maybe be reverted first. Iknow23, I didn't argue that providing a proper source (i.e. citing the actual charts site before the ~charts.com Hung Medien database updates) was not the best thing to do. I just meant that that URL could have been added to the header, like I did with the URLs for the Billboard peaks of "Where Ya At" the other week. Ss112 04:52, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cool about putting it in the header (I believe I've "thanked" you for at least some of those), but perhaps the "column-widening and ugly notes" can serve a purpose (in addition to sourcing). They can be looked upon as an "attention-getter" as they "stick-out" and can be reviewed for later deletion when made unnecessary by the column header source update (discography articles) or template-linked source updates (article Charts sections, France, US Billboard for example). "Same Old Love"

Hey, why not add the New Zealand Heatseekers chart as a footnote to the song's charting at Selena Gomez discography? It states "The Top 10 titles outside the Top 40 Singles Chart which have not previously entered the Top 40." This is basically the same as what we call in the US "Bubbling Under". That's an alright idea, but it's a bit more work. I was hesitant because the way the website defines the chart is songs that "have not previously entered the Top 40". I'm guessing that means that songs that debuted in/have fallen out of the top 40 might be in what is typically places 41–50, but the Heatseekers chart simply charts the next 10 songs which haven't reached the top 40 yet. But if the wording were to be ""Same Old Love" did not chart on the NZ Top 40 Singles Chart, but reached number 9 on the NZ Heatseekers chart", that would be okay. Hi there. I wish you would have left the comments you made on my talk page about Chris Stapleton edits. I have contributed most of the content to that page (especially citations) and none of the edits that I made were made in an effort to hurt the page in any way. My concern with hlists is that those with viewing issues using a screen reader would have problems where the screen reader "reads name dot name dot name." And the issue of putting punctuation in quotes is part of grammar style guides that I think most people learned in elementary school, is something that is pretty basic, but for some reason on Wikipedia is completely disregarded. I am not trying to minimize other folks' contributions here, and the edits I made were not deleting content, they were nits, nits that I'm willing to have conversations about. I want Wikipedia to be as good as possible. So I think what you said was somewhat unfair, and wish you would've allowed for the conversation you began to happen. Get Weird – French chart positions

Thanks for pointing out I'd missed the reference – normally I'm a stickler for that myself but for some reason I'd got it into my head that it was already on the Hung Medien lescharts website and didn't need to link to the SNEP website. Predicting peaks

I was not predicting peaks, as I misjudged the 21st chart to be the new one, where it was their second week of the three on the Billboard Christian Albums chart for MercyMe! It's Christmas!, while I was in the process of updating for last weeks chart. When I started the article the first weeks chart was used, and I simply am trying to get the hang of the new music releasing charting matrix, sorry. I never try to predict or guesstimate a peak on any chart of any kind or fashion. NZ Heatseekers chart

Hi Ss112, your comment about this chart on the Little Mix page is a valid one – I don't have any strong opinions about adding charts like this or the Belgian Tip chart or the Billboard Bubbling Under chart, although to me they seem more "promotional" charts than any important chart positions... I only removed it in this case because the addition had been sandwiched between two other edits I thought should be reverted, and it was easier to revert the whole lot in one go. Maybe that was a bad decision on my part, and if you or another editor add it back I personally won't keep removing it – sorry if you were offended. Perhaps this is something that should be discussed on a relevant WikiProject: which charts should be included for peak positions, just main national charts or all official charts?
