Edits for draft article about Prof. J. Michael RotterGood afternoon Snowman304. I have added as many secondary sources as are available to the draft article on Prof. Michael Rotter (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Michael_Rotter). It is not a reasonable comment to dismiss Prof. Rotter's accomplishments by saying that the text 'reads like a CV' - there are other accepted Wikipedia articles which read even more like CVs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Spencer and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teng_Jin-guang) and have even shorter reference lists. The accomplishments are real, certainly noteworthy and in my view documented. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AJSadowski (talk • contribs) 18:05, 27 November 2024 (UTC) AfC declinesHi there, thanks so much for volunteering to help out with the AfC backlog! I've resubmitted and accepted a draft you declined, Truncated Triangular Pyramid Number. We're not looking for perfection, just whether something is totally unsuitable or not and whether it would survive a deletion discussion. When you're looking at a draft of something that looks notable but has unreferenced bits, you can simply accept it (add maintenance tags if you like), or remove the unclearly sourced content if it's particularly problematic. Declining drafts that are mostly fine confuses and frustrates newbies, and once the articles are in mainspace they're more likely to get help from other more experienced editors, so the aim here is to move to mainspace unless they're not notable or a total disaster. -- asilvering (talk) 16:03, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
Invitation to participate in a researchHello, The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey. You do not have to be an Administrator to participate. The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement . Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns. The Yousaf is was verified by three separate credible sources as the ISI lead person in one of the most significant organizations involved in a conflict whose consequences are ongoing. His two books are cited in other Wikipedia articles. I realize that the article I created was rather short but at the risk of whataboutism I have seen articles with fewer citations for less notable people. Yeshayahu FolmanHello @Snowman304, You have declined my draft and that is following me removing all asked. Please point me to what isnt sourced...? Also, why decline and not ask for changes? I mean, he is worthy and it seems unfair. Thank you, Shahar Navon new (talk) 08:44, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
Draft: Roy William HarrisHello @snowman304, you rejected my draft on Will Harris https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Roy_William_Harris a few days ago (on the basis of an empty section and it being light on references). I do not disagree with your assessment and your feedback is accurate. I have been frustrated by the paywalls and lack of good research material. Will Harris was really big news 25 years ago in the energy industry. He is notable for a $200 million fraud on Chase Bank (back when this was one of the biggest financial crimes ever committed) and was also the first RICO-type legal case against a corporation. In RICO cases, they take away all of your financial resources upfront. He basically ended up with a public defender/pro bono lawyer and was found guilty to all sorts of things that would probably not be today. I would hope that more resources will be available in the future with ExCo privileges. It would be really helpful to get a few other editors involved in review as there are things that I am limited in knowing about Will Harris from the outside looking in. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. The best sources that I have are on old Bloomberg article and the text of a couple of his appeals to his sentencing. Apparently, a lawyer worked on his case (pro-bono again) for like a decade. Refineryguycanada (talk) 15:12, 31 October 2024 (UTC) Anthropophage pageUndoing your revert. The page is the literal source that Anthropophagi is being cited. I simply made a more usable and precise citation that links to the archived (public domain) digital copy. See source below my citation. RCSCott91 (talk) 19:22, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
Orville Peck: referencesDear Snowman304: What an impressive list of contributions you have! Thank you for being a veteran Wikipedian. Regarding your comment "That's not how we do references" => do you think, you would make a better contribution to Wikipedia and Wiki-community in general, if you point out to a description of "how we do references"? Or better yet, fix these references yourself- i.e. doing an actual work rather the destroying the contributions of others, who spent time on doing actual work? Also, despite your numerous contributions, it seems, that you misunderstand how collaboration on Wikipedia WP:CO works. My ecological function as a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiDragon is to "vomit up the universe" (i.e. to create the first draft of an article or to add substantial new features to an exiting article). Afterwards, other wikifauna, such as [[1]] and [[2]] take over. If you do not want to work yourself, please mark the section, that needs improvement with specific instructions for wiki-gnomes. Respectfully, you favorite WikiDragon :)Walter Tau (talk) 22:58, 2 November 2024 (UTC) Reminder to participate in Wikipedia researchHello, I recently invited you to take a survey about administration on Wikipedia. If you haven’t yet had a chance, there is still time to participate– we’d truly appreciate your feedback. The survey is anonymous and should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement. Take the survey here.
