BarnstarsIt is obvious that you like to give out Barnstars by the hundred, and I'm sure everyone that has received a Barnstar from you is very appreciative. However, I must advise you that giving a Barnstar to just everyone you come across is not the way to do it. Barnstars are awarded as special recognition, and the giving out of hundreds degrades the quality and significance of the award. Please bear this in mind, as you continue to edit, and I advise that you give out no more for the time being. If you want awards yourself, trading barnstars is not a good way to do it either, it is much better to earn recognition for excellent editing and community service that to simply buy them from other editors. RfA Neutral Changed to Support Thanks!(Open your card) → → →
Sharkface, thank you for your careful opinion in my RfA. I even appreciated the neutral vote first, as you looked at the issues and balanced the good against the bad. I would even have understood had you stayed at neutral after my explanation. But, of course, when you changed to support, I appreciated that even more! It really was a complex issue, and I can understand any confusion. In the end, every change of an opinion by someone matters even more than initial support, and yours may have made the difference for several others. I am proud that after looking at the complex situation you do believe I am worthy of the mop. Since we haven't really interacted much at all before, that makes the effort and opinion even more valuable. As you may know, my Request for Adminship is over, and successfully. I hope to make it have been worth while. If there is any admin thing I can do to make your life easier, please ask, and I will do as best I can. Otherwise, I will try to start the admin thing slowly, and not delete the Main Page for at least five more minutes. (I've just proudly done my first Admin rollback!) If I mess up, make sure to come to my talk page and give me a good yell. Email also works, and is more private, but talk page will often get a more immediate response. If even that doesn't work, I am, of course, in Category:Administrators open to recall, though I would hope you give the yell route a try first. User pageHey there, Sharkface. I just wanted to know why you put up a tag that said your userpage was "protected from editing until disputes have been resolved". Putting up that sign doesn't do anything, unless an admin actually protects the page. So, I suggest you remove that notice from your userpage. Thanks. Of course I don't want other user or people think it is boring. I saw other user's user page can show the time, and it can change! I think those are some kind of effects. But I don't know how they did that. So, this is the problem I had. So can you help me...?
Mikelau97 12:52, 21 November 2006 (UTC) RfA thanks
RfA Thanks
Thanks for your inputThank you for taking part in my RfA. The RfA was not successful, mostly because I did a pretty bad job of presenting myself. I'll run again sometime in the next few months, in the hopes that some will reconsider. In the meantime, one of the projects I'm working on is A Wikimedia Administrator's Handbook. This is a wikibook how-to guide intended to help new administrators learn the ropes, as well as to simply "demystify" what adminship entails. If you are an administrator, please help out with writing it, particularly on the technical aspects of the tools. Both administrators and non-administrators are welcome to help link in and sort all of the various policies regarding the use of these tools on wikipedia in particular (as well as other projects: for example, I have almost no experience with how things work on wiktionary or wikinews). Users who are neither familiar with policy or the sysop tools could be of great help by asking questions about anything that's unclear. The goal is to get everything together in one place, with a narrative form designed to anticipate the reader's next question. A second project, related but not entailed, is a book on wikimedia in general, with a history of how various policies evolved over time, interesting trivia (e.g., what the heck was "wikimoney" about?), and a history of how the wikimedia foundation itself came about and the larger issues that occurred during its history (such as the infamous "Spanish Fork"). Again, thanks for your input on the RfA, and thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide for the handbook. --SB_Johnny|talk|books 12:57, 13 November 2006 (UTC) Dev920(Mind voting here?) 15:21, 13 November 2006 (UTC) Thanks for the BarnstarThanks for the Barnstar, Sharkface. I had really pretty much given up on Wikipedia, despite over 2000 quality edits, due to the difficulty in maintaining quality: too much vandalism, too many well-meaning but non sequitor edits, too many POV edits, and lack of support/recognition, among other problems. Due to your random act of kindness, I may just reconsider. Madman 17:18, 13 November 2006 (UTC) I came in just to say that User_talk:Ixfd64 does not deserve the "Award" given. Why? More generally, we've been trying to create task forces only where we have:
We've particularly tried to minimize the number of overlapping "sub-task forces" except where truly needed, as they tend to wind up splitting editors' attention and preventing any of the groups from really taking off. Kirill Lokshin 21:53, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
StubsHello, Thank you for your stub submission. You may wish to note that it is preferable to use a stub template from Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types instead of using simply {{stub}}, if you can. Thanks! So I appreciate your confidence in me at RFA, and hope you'll let me know if I can do anything for you in the future. Becoming an admin isn't, you know, my life's goal, but I do think I could be useful as one. That being said, I'll try to incorporate your suggestions and hopefully succeed in some months' time. RfA thanksThank you for voting in my RfA, I passed. I appreciate your input. Please keep an eye on me(if you want) to see if a screw up. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 16:02, 29 November 2006 (UTC) Thanks for your consideration and commentsEditor ReviewOkay, I'm doing your ER right now. Also, don't be so down on yourself. Some people have come back from being blocked and have had successful RfA's. You definitely have to work on it, but I believe it's definitely doable. =) Nishkid64 02:10, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I saw your recent contributions to WP:FPC, which is great. However, I just wanted to say that although your votes are appreciated, it would be nice if you elaborated more than "per quality of picture". While this is all very good, it doesn't really explain anything, since a we are precisely voting on the quality, so saying per quality coul be good or bad. If you don't feel like writing out exactly what you feel, then you can just say "per (username)", for someone who shares your views. Otherwise, just try to put a small comment about the quality itself, like "too much blown highlights, but nice and sharp". Thanks! NauticaShades 07:37, 1 December 2006 (UTC) ThanksThanks. I will be expanding my answers and answering the extra questions on my RFA as soon as possible. Thanks again! :) Wikiwoohoo 13:09, 3 December 2006 (UTC) AFD RequestHi there, Would you mind weighing in on this afd discussion? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Bryan_Brandenburg Seems notable. Thanks. User:Stanlys212 Polar DesignI've noticed your comments about web access in Saudi Arabia as concerns notability and was impressed with your tireless efforts to bring a fair and balanced view to a number of deletion debates. Your participation on AfDHello, Sharkface. I've closed a number of AfD the last few days, and I have noticed that you almost always participate with a comment like "keep per above". Now, you may have your reasons to do so, but I suggest that whatever they are, you may be wasting your time: AfD is not a vote, and I am inclined to discount such comments (just like "delete per above"'s) when closing an AfD, for the reasons set forth in WP:ILIKEIT. This is even more the case if an user's contribution history (like yours) indicates that they tend to very indiscriminately "vote" one way or another. For this reason, thank you for your contributions to AfD, but if you want them to be effective I suggest that you consider stating your own reasons to keep or delete an article in AfD discussions, based on applicable Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Thanks and bye, Sandstein 05:42, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Smiles promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by smiling to someone else, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. Smile at others by adding {{subst:smile}}, {{subst:smile2}} or {{subst:smile3}} to their talk page with a friendly message. Happy editing! Hey Sharkface217, I just wanted to say thanks for the review you gave me; I really appreciate the time you took to write it, and I agree with all of your suggestions. You're the second Wikipedian who has offered to nominate me for adminship in the future. I noticed that you are also on editor review, and I'd like to return the favor and write a review for you (when time permits me, which will hopefully be soon). By the way, thanks for giving me the Random Acts of Kindness barnstar a while back! Best regards! -- P.B. Pilhet / Talk 18:22, 7 December 2006 (UTC) An Award for Your Kindness!

In closing the nomination, Essjay remarked that it was one of the better discussed RfAs seen recently and I would like to thank you and all others who chose to vote for making it as such. It was extremely humbling to see the large number of support votes, and the number of oppose votes and comments will help me to become stronger. I hope to run again for adminship soon. Thank you all once more. Wikiwoohoo 19:22, 11 December 2006 (UTC) |
