Hi! I see you're quite new here (as an account, no idea how long you were here as a fellow IP user), so rather than leaving a dry and impersonal templated message, I thought I'd try a more low key, friendly caution. Chatting with fellow users about Wikipedia is, of course, perfectly okay; chatting about just anything verges into "not okay" territory. This especially applies to blocked users on their talk pages. If you want to help them understand what went wrong and try to work towards an unblock, great! General conversation should not encouraged, though. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 13:46, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I kind of meant to only chat about blocking but also gave them an option for anything else because it was clear they weren't very happy about it and I wanted to make them feel a little better. 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐬 (let's chat!) 14:04, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's understandable, but so, so often I've seen blocked users - who are, as you say, often frustrated and confused - get in further trouble for using their talk pages in ways they shouldn't (ranting, discussing unrelated things, trying to get other people to make edits for them) just because it's the only place left that they have a voice, their only way to continue participating in Wikipedia. But their priority needs to be getting unblocked, and if they don't focus on that, they may end up with talk page access revoked entirely. Gently guiding them back in the right direction is very helpful if you can manage it. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 14:13, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, do you have the beta "discussion tools" feature enabled? If it isn't enabled you would have to edit the page to reply, but the beta feature adds the "reply" button that many people have. Go to Preferences > Beta to change it. 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐬 (let's chat!) 15:22, 30 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
For the avoidance of doubt (since I botched the original block template), I am not aware of any abuses of editing privileges through this account - to the best of my knowledge, it is simply an alt account that is no longer wanted by its owner.
