His alleged time as archdeacon was short enough for me to have missed him out as my list was put together from various sources. However an authoritative biography at http://www.westminster-abbey.org/our-history/people/william-and-mary-carnegie does not mention any time as archdeacon. I will continue to look around however. I regret I cannot relocate the source. However, looking at the titles of successive archdeacons, there does seem to have been a formal name change around that time. I accept that "the position was redefined" implies more than that but I have no idea what. If you think the list would be better off without this unsubstantiated complication then remove it by all means. Maybe it could be replaced by a statement about the two titles being interchangeable or changing according to fashion.Plucas58 (talk) 12:31, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
