However, the lead-out picture is always a prominent item in any article (and is usually deemed as being as necessary on a feature article). Therefore, it is always the protocol that, before making such a major change, one go to the talk page and discuss the problem, first, with other editors. I re-instated the picture, but not out of any disrespect to you. You may, indeed, have a valid point, but we need to wait until other editors have been consulted on the matter. Please, by all means, do bring this matter up on the punk talk page. I might end up concurring with you, and perhaps other editors will as well. This may be the best way to achieve the permanent changes that you wish to make. Perhaps the second picture of the Pistols can be removed. Or, perhaps, if you think the Pistols are the wrong band to put at the top, we could find a picture of another band for the lead-out spot. But, once again, please do bring this matter to the talk page. If I had not re-instated the picture, then someone else would have. Then they, not only, would have made a permanent change (contrary to yours), but, also, would have been closed to your point of view. I am open to your point of view, so my reversion is should not be taken as a negation. Swervedriver article and discographyFirstly, thanks for taking some time to improve the Swervedriver page; as you may have already noticed, I wrote a massive overhaul of it last year—my first major contribution to a Wikipedia article. Many thanks for the complements and feedback. Much of my intention for writing it was to draw interest in the band (one of my favorites), so I'm glad it's working. I did mull over whether or not to include the forum as a reference and opted for it since they were posts from Jez and Adi themselves and it could be difficult to find that information elsewhere. It may just take a little work to substitute them. I found the hardest part of writing the main article for me were the points that dealt with the band's style (maybe because I have zero musical background), so if you have any ideas for composing a "Style" section that would be great.Thisfireburns (talk) 12:35, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

As mentioned by the page's creator, all of the genres are relevant and can be sourced from the various discography pages around the web, as well as sources linked to in the article. They were mentioned in two separate jazz publications last year, so calling them an experimental/avant-garde drone band is a disservice to them as musicians. In the last two years alone, they're released more rock and roll than most bands do in their entire careers. There is no hard and fast rule regarding the length of genre lists, particularly for a band so diverse. I have recommended that the author revert your edit and another protection template put in place for vandalism. Your preferences about the band do not merit questioning the content of the article, when it is thorough, accurate, and descriptive. If you have any suggestions about the genre list, I suggest you begin a discussion on the article's talk page before truncating the list. Take a look at Frank Zappa's genre box. Bull of Heaven have released more music than any band in history, and they are exceptionally diverse. Again, truncating the list to three genres is vandalism, particularly when you have removed several genres they are well-known for (contemporary classical, minimalism, rock and roll, jazz, etc.) that are, indeed, sourced in many of the references in the article. As I mentioned, there are two articles from last year alone that are unambiguous as to the band's jazz productions. Other articles and interviews with the band mention serialism, atonality, microsound, contemporary classical, jazz, dub, fusion, doom metal, and many others. Their interview in the Netherlands alone makes mention of all of these, as well as progressive rock, algorithmic music, avant-garde jazz, and classical. If you have complaints or suggestions, again, the proper place to air your concerns is on the talk page for the article. As it is, you are perpetuating an edit war, which is not in the spirit of Wikipedia or maintaining a NPOV perspective when editing. Check the guidelines for band articles. I have. Delimiting the genres included to three is unacceptable, given that the band is more prolific and diverse than any other in the history of music. Moreover, it is misleading to simply refer to them as an experimental/avant-garde/ drone band, as they have produced more rock music than the Beatles. In 2014 alone, they released at least a dozen hours of psychedelic rock, jazz fusion, and post-rock. Your edits are arbitrary and do not accurately reflect the information provided in many of the sources cited in the article. One might regard this as a simple oversight were you not so zealous in your frivolous selection of genres you personally deem relevant, which is entirely a matter of subjectivity. The band is well known for its divergence from the norm, its various forays into anti-music, classical, musique concrète, noise, rock, and jazz, and for their many stylistically distinct productions. Assigning such a dynamic musical act three closely related genres based solely upon your own opinions and editorial tastes, disregarding the countless mentions of other genres in the references provided, is both myopic and ignorant of the facts presented in practically every article and interview included as references. You've made it clear that you believe further citations are necessary; however, these citations already exist. Furthermore, Wikipedia has no regulations prohibiting an accurate and/or lengthy genre list, nor does it require citations for each genre listed. If you have specific complaints, again, bring it up on the talk page. Reverting edits made by the page's author is in poor taste, commensurate with an edit war, and worse still, not in accordance with any regulation or guideline established by Wikipedia.
