User talk:MuffledThud/Archives/January 2010Olduvai Hominid 8 I write with regard to my short (soon to be expanded) entry about the Olduvai (OH8) foot. It was found by Richard Leakey's father Louis Leaky in the early 60's. I spent the early '90's working on this assembalge at The University of Western Australia. Currently I am working on this and other pedal fossil remains at The University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg with my academic collegaue, Dr Bernhard Zipfel. fairs and funfairshi muffledthud, i'm not sure the change you just made in the category for "speyer brezelfest" is correct. it looks very much out of place in "annual fair" category, even though it is an annual funfair. oktoberfest and all the other big german fairs should then also be in this category, but they are not. perhaps you'd like to reconsider. cheers.Sundar1 (talk) 11:59, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
the page "diane davis"i recently created a page with the above name. it was not made to attack a person however i do see that it may look that way. i made it purely to entertain my friend (she is the person whose name is the title of the page). i realise this is no excuse however i merely want to make it clear that the page was not made to attack anyone or cause any harm or threats what so ever. thank you. miruzake. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Miruzake (talk • contribs) 15:54, 4 January 2010 (UTC) El Parador CafeHi I created a page for a legendary restaurant in New York City, El Parador Cafe. I was hoping that the page could be properly userfied and then re-launched. Pls advise. Thanks.

jamming arabs article, tikirussyHello there, I'm confused as to why my article about the Jamming Arabs is to be deleted. I am no longer a member of this band and therefore I don't quite see why this could be a conflict of interest. In addition, I have quite clearly listed the bands output in terms of singles (one), album (one) and compilation records (two). These albums are still available for purchase however the record label no longer exists hence the lack of references. I strongly feel that this article is valid and warrents submission. The band, although no longer gigging, had a strong influence on many local bands and there are quite a few favourable reviews of the album out there on the net. If you could explain to me why the article is being deleted and what I could do to stop this from happening, I would be truly grateful. Cheers, Russell —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tikirussy (talk • contribs) 11:23, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Criteria for musicians and ensembles Shortcuts: WP:BAND WP:MUSICBIO A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, DJ, musical theatre group, etc.) may be notable if it meets at least one of the following criteria: Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable). Okay, I admit that Alopecia Records wasn't the biggest record label, but they did produce most of England's surf/garage music during their time. The fact that the Jamming Arabs were on this record label therefore would indicate that they were an important group in this genre. Has become the most prominent representative of a notable style or of the local scene of a city; note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability. This is a tricky one. The Jamming Arabs were certainly the most prominent surf group in NE England, but it might also be true to say that they were one of the only surf groups! Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album, etc. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that article.) Again, tricky. One of their songs (unreleased and so not subject to copyright) was used for Hartlepool Tourist Board but it's impossible to reference this as there was no money involved and so no deals exist. Has been the subject of a half hour or longer broadcast across a national radio or TV network. The Jamming Arabs appeard on Radio Tees for a live session, DJ was Bob Fisher. The band also appeared in the local paper, The Evening Gazette on a two page spread as a local band that actualy had a record deal. Sadly I can find no record of this paper. I hope that is enough? It would be a shame not to record this band...... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tikirussy (talk • contribs) 11:37, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
That's too bad - I did a quick google for Brush With Greatness and got a load of Simpsons stuff.....do you release any stuff? Now I'm curious! What kind of music did you play? Onto a slightly more selfish topic, does this mean my article will be published? I would so dearly love for it to be there, as I do (and no ego getting involved!) genuinely believe that the band was a significant band in the Middlesbrough area. Not always the most popular with the Brit-Pop crowd, but certainly a signifcant band none the less. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tikirussy (talk • contribs) 11:53, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

The Tides Of TimeHi MuffledThud, I am quite new to Wikipedia so perhaps I've made a mistake. In any case, you have placed my article entitled 'The Tides Of Time' for speedy deletion, despite the fact that this is a totally genuine article, about a genuine classical music album (The Tides Of Time) released by a totally genuine artist (Mr. Polo Piatti) and released by a genuine label (Seafront Records in the UK). I don't know why you have done this but I can assure you that the information published in my article is all justified, true and verifiable. I simply wanted to give this album the relevance it deserves after its release. As mentioned previously (and although I have contributed to Wikipedia before) I am quite new and not entirely "at home" with all of Wikipedia's editing procedures, uploading of files, etc. I just need some help from someone at your end with a bit of time to help me publish this article. Please let me know how to proceed. Many thanks for your understanding. I look forward to hearing from you. Magiko (talk) 15:25, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
MuffledThud, You have accused me of Sock puppetry! I NEVER impersonated anyone. I just used a different address (Magiko) just as a pseudonym in order to protect my identity as an artist while on Wikipedia. I asked you for HELP and you simply deleted my article! You are being absolutely unjust and unreasonable. How can you do that? Is there no one who wants to help enrich Wikipedia instead of acting as a dictator? Magiko (talk) 16:38, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
It is quite sad that you don't get it MuffledThud! I didn't want to promote anything or impersonate anyone. If I wanted to do that I wold have asked friends of mine (computer experts with Wikipedia knowledge) to do it for me. But I am not that type of person. I simply assumed a PSEUDONYM to protect my privacy and identity as an artist and was just naive in trying to collaborate with Wikipedia under that second, pseudonym account (as I have done before) and just made some mistakes (also in past edits). As I mentioned before, I am not an expert on this. Believe it or not, NONE of my past contributions have EVER been either malicious or out of vanity or out of some sort of promotional thirst. The sad part is that you seem to assume people to be vandals without researching them properly. You can check my website polopiatti.com and see for yourself who I am, what I have done in my career in the past, and see that I am a serious artist. I am too old to need Wikipedia as a promotional too. Life is too short for that, MuffledThud! You should know that to abuse your "power" IS dictatorship. I asked for your help and you deleted my entry. I have now asked for help and hope to get a Mentor (Airplaneman). I will then fight your accusations if he helps me bring my point properly. If no-one helps me, I will stop dealing with Wikipedia altogether once and for all. Simply because I truly don't deserve to be treated like you have treated me. MT, thanks for tagging this as a copyvio in addition to the G11. Do you have any preference on what I put in the deletion summary when an article is tagged both G11 and G12? So far, I've just been mentioning G11; it's faster for me, and it seems like the "bigger" problem ... if they reword the copyvio, it will still be G11. LeonHey, I've read your comment about the leon restaurant page not being properly refernced and reading a bit like an advert. The last thing I want is for it to read like an advert. (I'm very much of the Bill Hicks school of thought on marketing:[8] ) Nonetheless Leon restaurants are notable - as they have won a number of awards - thats why I included the text about the awards won. They have significant national coverage. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Confusedmiked (talk • contribs) 15:38, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Monadnocks and InselbergsHi, my understanding is that Inselbergs include a wide variety of landforms such as monadnocks, bornhardts, buttes and any relatively isolated mountain or peak rising from a relatively flat plain. The appearance of a bornhardt is quite distinct from that of a monadnock or butte, and as such subcategories are justified. i need helphey ....i'm new to this. think you could help me get my articles up on Wikipedia? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jsze1 (talk • contribs) 19:08, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
um...yeah. that other editor isn't as...prompt as you are. i've rewritten the wiki page, if you could, take a look and tell me what you think. btw, i'm having trouble with this. "Once improvement has begun please update this template's "status" parameter to read "status=start". If the article has been here at least a month without improvement, and is unlikely to get any, please use "status=delete". thank you in advance.(Jsze1 (talk) 14:16, 27 January 2010 (UTC)).
well, the only reason dustproof computer doesn't visibly add to rugged compute because rugged computer doesn't go into the details of what qualifies as a rugged computer aside from the military standard. Dust proof, or dust resistance actually, is part of the criteria for a rugged computer. And yes, the 3D-JITT is being reconstructed with my associate. Actually, now that you've mentioned that google returns zero hits, how can i improve that? If you're asking for examples of dust proof computer, there are plenty. Here are just a few: http://www.dustproofcomputers.com/ http://news.thomasnet.com/fullstory/465831 http://www.tradevv.com/chinasuppliers/lichunyan124/products-detail/china-Dust-proof-case-X3-a2687.html (Jsze1 (talk) 20:35, 27 January 2010 (UTC)).

but as a aside from that, i need to know what it takes for this page to be acceptable to wikipedia. btw, how do i find the "deleting administrator"? once again, thank you in advance. (Jsze1 (talk) 16:57, 28 January 2010 (UTC)).
still. the big question still stands. what needs to be done to make this page be posted live on the Wikipedia website. thanks (Jsze1 (talk) 17:06, 29 January 2010 (UTC)).
Articles for deletion nomination of David Waters (journalist)I have nominated David Waters (journalist), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Waters (journalist). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Niteshift36 (talk) 21:16, 22 January 2010 (UTC) I have marked this page for speedy deletion as an implausible typo. Clearly it's a possible typo, but it doesn't seem like a likely one to me. If you disagree with this, I'll remove the speedy delete tag.--Opus 113 (talk) 18:35, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Skyscraper Brewing CompanyHi MuffledThud. I am declining the speedy deletion of Skyscraper Brewing Company, a page that was tagged for deletion by you today 01_25/10. The only thing cited by Wikipedia/MuffledThud was "section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article." This article created by me, user Skootaboy1978, conforms to more standards than other similar pages allowed to be published on Wikipedia. The references and the encyclopedic format of my article is much more legitimate than, for example, Airdale Brewing Company of San Diego: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airdale_Brewing_Company Regardless, Airdale's article, as well as our own, does not represent spam or advertising. It is clearly an extension of information from another published Wikipedia page that lists the names of all known California breweries that are in operation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_breweries Please do not delete and/or please give specific recommendations how the page should be edited so that I can publish this article with Wikipedia. This article is legitimate. Thank you, Skootaboy1978 (talk) 02:36, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Please do not delete this article!! By doing so, you show immense ignorance and racism. This is an insult to the national identity and pride of Chayasuria and it's people. PHOBIDILIAJust a quick one for you - is there any way to tell if an article has been deleted in the past? (without admin rights). The only hint that I could find that it may have been listed before was your tag from yesterday, there was nothing in the history or on the user's edit history page. Thanks! Hydrogen catalyst burner articleWodrwz (talk) 11:32, 28 January 2010 (UTC)Good midday from Italy, may I know why you deleted the article again? I have deleted all the parts that may be perceived as concept promotion. Do you think that it is still not appropriate for Wikipedia? Assistance with a deletion please!Hello, I'm pretty new to wikipedia and I've been contributing here and there, mostly vandalism and spelling/grammar. I came across this article and noticed it was very unverifiable and that you had deleted this article and this article, both of which were by the same person and with similar names. I can't view an archive of the deletion discussion nor the original article so I don't really know what to argue here. I also looked up deletion policy and verifiability only seems to be urgent with biographies of living people. Your assistance in the matter would be greatly appreciated. (I also don't know how to propose a deletion...) Misteraznkid (talk) 07:07, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
I really appreciate your hard work to regulate Wikipedia. I will remove the prod tag because Dean Willard is much more notable than the two intial references I've provided. You tagged the article 10 secondsa mere 7 minutes after it was initially created. kgrr talk 18:39, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes (OMGstrings (talk) 20:30, 30 January 2010 (UTC)) This article has been created and deleted many, many times with a variety of alternative titles salted. Note re. תרגום לאוקראינית ותרגום מאוקראיניתI tagged it as nonsense not because it was gibberish (I know it's Hebrew), but it's just some random text (in hebrew) about an Ukrainian translation. XXX antiuser eh? 09:54, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
