Hello Missvain,

I apologize for taking so long to follow up on this project. I only just realized that my proposed AfC on Design Institute of San Diego had been rejected due to a lack of reliable sources. Since the draft page has now been deleted, I just requested its reinstatement so that I can review the sources I used and attempt to correct the problems.

As I stated in my conflict-of-interest declaration, I am currently employed as the Librarian at Design Institute of San Diego. As a librarian, I appreciate Wikipedia's commitment to the use of reliable sources. I looked at the Wikipedia entries of many other colleges and universities as I drafted the DI page, and it seems that an institution's website may be used as a reliable source for basic information about the institution (for example, number of students, or campus facilities) but information that is really marketing material aimed at prospective students should be cited. If there is anything else I should know about the appropriate use of an institution's website as a source of information for that institution's Wikipedia page, please let me know where I can find additional guidance.

Once the draft page is restored, I will examine the sources I used. If you are willing, I would appreciate the opportunity to ask more questions about the suitability of specific sources in this context.

Hi, I looked up the official website and the About >> regional accreditation; seems worthy of having a basic non-marketing'y Wiki article! If you can populate more of and also iron out just a few of the existing sourcings, like maybe some CA newspaper published am article when the school was incepted and/or had a Grand Opening, I think republication would go through. Hi User:Prernagupta1. Alas, you won't be able to update your article at all due to you being the subject, ha! You also can't write about your husband. I'm pretty slammed (I also have two primary jobs I work outside of my freelance fire work) and it will be sometime before I can look at it. Let me see if I can recruit some folks to lend a hand and guide you on the processes. They would need to update the article and again, you can't write the article about your husband. They'll be able to determine if he qualifies for an article and if they have interest in writing it. Same goes for the app you developed. That's because of the WP:COI policy and could risk in you getting blocked or banned from editing and we don't want that to happen! Anyway, good to hear from you! Hi User:Prernagupta1. Like I wrote earlier, it's against policy for you to write or edit anything related to you - including the article on yourself, your husband or your business/work. Therefore, despite your good faith efforts, I'm unable to use the drafts you've created. What I suggest, regarding the article about yourself, is that you go to the talk page for Prerna_Gupta and leave a bullet point list of requested changes including reliable secondary sources (meaning things you haven't written but press coverage about you). Anything that fits our guidelines we'll work on changing in the article. Here are some more bits about having a Wikipedia article about yourself: Wikipedia:About you.

I also suggest you do the same for the Hooked article - just leave a bullet point list with reliable secondary sources. Please focus only on critical changes - since we're volunteer driven we want to focus on pertinent changes and updates - not necessarily a tone or word change just because the subject doesn't like it (for example).

I need to think about how to proceed regarding your draft about your husband.... but hopefully the above is a start for you! I do hope you'll consider working on other articles that interest you. Also, I just took a look at the article you drafted about your husband. Right now he doesn't meet our notability guidelines. The articles either mention him briefly, are in a non-notable secondary source (Medium is used sparingly, for example - almost anyone can publish on it), or have a conflict of interest with him (the NEA grant or a piece written by him). She wrote the draft about her husband. I wrote the Wikipedia article about her almost ten years ago. I don't think he passes notability guidelines. Can you take a look? Perhaps WP:Academic is another option... having a NEA grant or being part of a notable business doesn't inherently mean notable for a Wikipedia article, as you know. Thanks Jim!! Hello Missvain and Prernagupta1. I think that these drafts should be submitted to the Articles for Creation process, which exists in part to allow for editors with a COI to have their drafts reviewed by experienced uninvolved editors. Prernagupta1, the first reference in the draft about your husband is excellent and certainly devotes significant coverage to him. The other references appear to be of lower quality. I suggest finding and adding better sources if they exist. Personally, I do not feel comfortable with either accepting or rejecting the draft. Because the two of you are business partners as well as spouses, you have a financial stake in these topics, so your first step is to comply with the mandatory Paid editing disclosure. Instead of writing drafts about topics where articles already exist, you should make formal edit requests on the respective talk pages of those articles. Feel free to ask follow-up questions. You can totally submit tit through Articles for Creation if you want. And sure, folks can use the article you drafted (or the 'new version') to improve your article, but you can't do it yourself. I'd just post on the talk page of the article about yourself and link to the draft and ask for some updates. Hello, Missvain. I am just curious how much of this new article was built out of the Articles for Creation request that you seem to have rejected nine minutes later on the same day? I noticed this when I was exploring a probable conflict of interest that User:Michifornia likely has, but which I don't intend to pursue further. I don't even remember that. It was in 2012. Eight years ago. I don't remember most of the articles I write or work on - that's why I track the newer one's on my userpage so I can go back and tweak them. I know there were a few circumstances when I was new to AfC in which I'd later find out a subject was notable and I'd go back and "save" the article from AfC by copying and pasting it into new article space. That's probably what happened. I probably didn't know how the AfC tools worked to go back and "un" do something etc or resubmit it for review and then accept it. It happened a few times years ago from what I remember. I'm pretty indifferent about "obtain credit." If someone can magically find a tool to go back and give User:Michifornia credit (if that's who indeed credit is due) then go for it. I thought at the time I was doing the right thing when I realized a subject actually was notable after I rejected it and starting the article (WP:AGF). I can assure you, I am not a nefarious Wikipedia editor desperate to take credit for someone else's Wikipedia article. Missvain (talk) 17:08, 14 October 2020 (UTC)

Re-reading my note, I must apologize for the accusatory tone that came across. I was just struck by the evidence of (1) Established editor creates new article about a subject that had been submitted to AfC, (2) same editor then rejects the AfC draft only minutes later. It does sound like there was some confusion at work. I can look into whether there is a way to re-assign the AfC draft as the "first" edit on the History page. Regardless, I am convinced that the account Michifornia is either the subject of the article, or the subject's spouse. Candidate for Biden's Cabinet

Hi, I reverted your edit in Bob McDonald (businessman) because the source did not say he was a candidate. (Source used:[3]) Instead, the NYT article says the Biden transition team is compiling a list of candidates and the writer(s) are speculating who might be on that list. Please don't use this source for this claim, and I invite you to use a different source or revert your edits for similar claims on other articles like Janet Yellen and Elizabeth Warren. Hi Missvain, I'm in favour of Warren's article mentioning her consideration for VP because there are lots of sources stating she was vetted and interviewed by the Biden team at the time. Also, the US VP selection process receives lots of coverage in US media (and to a lesser extent in international media). Cabinet-level positions receive less media attention (both in the US and international media) and a large amount of positions means there's less significant coverage of a person who is considered for a job. As for Cabinet of Joe Biden, I was considering nominating it for AfD because of WP:SPECULATE but figured the article will become notable in a few weeks so I decided against it. I totally understand your disagreement, and I would support language like "McDonald was interviewed by the Biden campaign for the position of xxxx" if this information is verified by a WP:RS.
