Hi, I acknowledge your thoughts about the station articles being renamed gradually, but it should be noted that almost all London Underground stations also follow a naming convention as well: in their case it's "(Place) tube station". --Marianian(talk) 20:51, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

But all the existing templates could have been simply renamed to match, instead of which you have created multiples for the same function. If you had moved, like you did with the station, rather than replacing, redirects would have taken care of temporary glitches in succession templates. DYK promotions

Marianian, thank you for your recent review of Template:Did you know nominations/Detropia. I wanted to clarify something about the DYK process: once you review a hook and approve it, as you did for this review, your job is done. The system is set up so that someone else is responsible for adding it to a prep area; indeed, it's set up that way so there's an extra layer of hook and article checking built in. People who have contributed extensively to an article, nominated it for DYK, suggested the hook, or approved the article, are not supposed to promote it to the prep area; similarly, if you suggest a new hook as part of your review, you aren't also supposed to approve it.

I've removed the Detropia hook from Prep 2; in due course, it will be picked up and added to a prep area by someone who wasn't involved with the nomination. This may take several days: we currently have 115 approved hooks backlogged, and are posting them at a rate of 21 per day, just up from 16. Please let me know if you have any questions. Hi Marianian: You recently removed Blue Tit from WP:AFT, saying it was "too vulnerable to abuse". Hi MeegsC, I have been feeling uncomfortable about the idea of WP:AFT feature in all articles because of the trolling that's going on around the internet in general. Plus, spammers seem to be able to get around the filter by putting a space after the dot - well, we can't catch 'em all at once. By the way, it isn't not the only article opted out: Greater Manchester has been well long before the mass roll-out. As a courtesy I have disabled the tag for now, but I think we should continue to monitor the situation because if it was overtly abusive or spammy, then I am unclear as to how they would act on it: for example, how would it be logical to simply hide a comment that blatantly invades the privacy a non-personality? --Marianian^(talk) 15:23, 3 March 2013 (UTC)

Let's deal with the problem if/when it occurs. I've seen no vandalism along the lines of what you're describing above in the Blue Tit article. Have you, and I've simply missed it? BTW, there is no current plan to roll the AFT out to all articles; if you've been following its development, there was an RFC which showed clear community consensus for restricting its deployment until various issues are resolved. Global cash dinar vandal

Thanks for picking up on this. As I look back on it, I believe I thought that one of the edits was suspicious because it was unnecessary but I did not understand the other edit. They needed to be reverted but I could not tell whether they were vandalism. I suppose if I had taken a good look at the IP's talk page, I would have found that out. Ask to keep all: It looks like the AfD fails WP:DONTBITE. Oh Yeaaahh is only a couple of days old. There's nothing better to scare away new Greek railway writers with an AfD, and threatening to revoke editing privileges for adding new articles. "Global cash dinar" vandal

After successfully getting Yugoslav dinar placed on pending changes protection for one year (thanks, Darkwind), it appears that Wikipedia isn't the only wiki suffering from the "global cash dinar" vandal. So I've sent a message to some of the affected sites:

I am writing to inform you about anonymous users adding deliberate factual errors about old Argentine and Yugoslav currency.

The spam (such as the one at [link redacted for your safety]) claims that such old currencies are still legal tender in hundreds of countries. That is clearly not true because they have been obsolete for a long time and they are only worth what the collector is willing to pay for, depending on rarity.

It appears that the spammer uses Embarq Corporation IP addresses starting with 71.x.x.x range.

We have been experiencing this problem as well, hence the necessity to share this insight with you so that you can prevent such spam.

You may wish to consider actually putting a copyright notice on your pages. If not satisfied, request DMCA takedown to archive.is directly, instead of Google. In the meantime, if you want, you can hide the archive.is archives of your pages by a) blanking your page, b) archiving the blanked page at archive.is, c) restoring your page content. There is a problem, however. Trouble is, you released the material CC-BY-NC, so it can be copied for any purpose EXCEPT commercial use - this at the moment doesn't forbid archiving by archive.is, since it's not obviously commercial, nor is it obviously non-commercial. Hello User:Marianian! There are some mistakes on the map, concerning the suburban railway lines (P).

There are actually three lines:
1 Airport - Kiato (through Acharnai Railway Centre - horizontal platform)
2 Piraeus - Chalkida ( through Acharnai Railway Centre - vertical platform)
3 Athens - Ano Liossia (not stoping at Acharnai Railway Centre)

It's me again. So here are the timetables from the operating company TRAINOSE [[1]]. Unfortunatelly only in Greek (the English version is not updated), but you cab use Google Translate :

For Piraeus line you have to add the stations Rouf, Pyrgos Vasilissis and Kato Acharnai...till Chalkida . And Tavros Station (which is scheduled)
The short name for Acharnai Railay Centre is "SKA" (in Greek ΣΚΑ : Σιδηροδρομικό Κέντρο Αχαρανών) which, I suggest, should be added.

Pumpie sockpuppet

Quick question: User:Hannah Undel has edited New York City Subway articles as well as Spanish railway articles, while Pumpie edits, according to what I have seen, Greek railway articles. Has Pumpie, or any known sockpuppets edited New York subway articles before? Epicgenius (talk) 18:44, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

Here is the partial list of cities the past socks edited, according to the SPI archive: Malina, Harbin, Istanbul, Hong Kong, Marseille, Lyon and yes, Madrid. The list isn't complete because I do not have permissions to sift through deleted revisions.

Also, have a look at the logs for Sol Station, Aranjuez railway station and the history of Nuevos Ministerios station.

I have considered all factors that led me to make the report, because Pumpie has edited Spanish articles before. Overall, together with C&P moves and the ability to create this the account's first day, such edits are a short-lived cover for the user's next attempt to disrupt Greek station articles.

Glad you are willing to help us out. Constantine (Cplakidas) and Markussep may have even more ways to detect the puppets because I am late into Pumpie's game (please do make an enquiry to them): he clearly cannot win if we have the right detection methods, but do not rely on just one factor. To put it into a simple list, I would say it would include, but not be limited to:

• Bad translations from Greek to English despite his claim of fluency.
• Focus on Greek and Turkish railway articles after (recently) a day or two of editing other metro-related articles in order to claim that they were a different person.
• Copy and paste moves.
• Making edits without writing a summary.
• Creating redundant S-line templates, in which new and established users would not try to do.
• Creating elaborate templates on the first day of the account (which is important because a majority new users don't do that).
• Inserting Athenian/Attic templates for stations that are outside of the region.

I think that is my experience: having done a huge overhaul of the Athens Metro topic (the latest being the upgrade to Template:Infobox station/Header OASA to improve integration with the standard infobox), Pumpie's edits are increasingly easy to detect if you know his modus operandi. I'm not in a position to create an WP:LTA without a consensus (despite proposing it) but to me it will help reduce the damage since the user is already giving Greek Wikipedians a bad image.
