I'd like this talk page to be present for 2 weeks and, if after that more people will vote for removal of an image, that's fine with me. In this case Paul Henri Lecomte was not so much in charge of the plants (spermatophytes), so much as he was in charge of the department (Spermatophytes). I have rewritten the sentence to make it clear that a proper noun is intended and not a common one. --Bejnar 18:12, 29 August 2007 (UTC) Kudos

Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. It was not your edit that I regarded as vandalism, it was the one just before yours. I believe Wikipedia should implement a method for preventing such things from happening. Even coming from a technical background, there are so many Wiki-isms to observe here that it takes a while to get one's head around it all. Cheers! Of course, most people in the Universe will continue to mangle bur-bij-eye and pronounce it bur-bij-ee-eye, so it probably wasn't worth the effort. Of course, as a botanist it's my duty... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Attenboroughii (talk • contribs) 11:15, 22 November 2007 (UTC) Correcting data without a published referenceI have one for you - on the Nepenthes mantalingajanensis page, the year of discovery is quoted as 1998. In fact, when I lasted visited the Kew Herbarium, I noted that this species was first collected by Argent and Romero from Mt. Mantalingahan in 1992 (sheet 25438 - unidentified as the species in question, but the same, nonetheless), therefore perpetuating W's erroneous claim of 1998 on Wikipedia is misleading. I have an idea of what I'd like to replace it with, but wasn't sure how best to go about it. The sheet in question may feature in an upcoming publication, but that's several months away. What would be your counsel - wait, or workaround? Many thanks, Attenboroughii (talk) 21:17, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

I can't use the NASA World Wind software because of my computer platform - do you still have access to the same map of this region to allow for correction? Thanks, Attenboroughii (talk) 10:57, 27 November 2007 (UTC) Hi there. Does the IUCN redlist have this species spelled incorrectly? Should it be a redirect to Nepenthes vieillardii? Figured you might know! Cheers, Rkitko (talk) 15:00, 28 November 2007 (UTC) Image removal from the article AntarcticaHi, Mgiganteus1. How are you? I've missed you keeping an eye on my every edit. I really mean it. It is kind of boring now, when I do an edit and nobody cares. May I ask you a question please? You've removed the image of MS Explorer that I've posted to Antarctica. IMO because the ship has sunk few days ago in Antarctica it could be interesting for Wikipedia readers to see how she looked. I've uploaded the image a long time ago, but I've posted it to article only after the ship sunk. Anyway it is for you to decide. Thank you for your time.--Mbz1 (talk) 01:30, 30 November 2007 (UTC) Orphaned non-free media (Image:Alien chestburster.jpg)Thanks for uploading Image:Alien chestburster.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media). However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. In looking at your contributions, it appears you watchlist a lot of animal pages, so I figured you are a subject matter expert in the field (my background is economics!). I have decided to tackle a rather large project that has been in the back of my mind for awhile and try to link together all of the animal articles via templates. I have already done most of the carnivores. Now I would like some feedback to ensure I am not totally screwing up these articles. For your reference, I am keeping track of these templates at User:Old Hoss/Animal templates. I would appreciate any improvements you can make to these, and would value any suggestions. If you would rather not accept my request, no worries! Instead maybe you could reference me to some other experts for assistance. I had been obsessing about the introduction which seems too animal-oriented. Ralbot (talk) 08:08, 5 March 2008 (UTC) Terminator mergesAll these articles are stubs. They are about the same subject - Terminator film licence games - and should have started on their parent article page. According to Wikipedia guidelines fictional topics should generally work out as such:- 1) The main article is formed (in this case the film article) with section on games. 2) The games section cannot hold the expanding section 3) A games article is formed 4) Certain games sections grow too large and expand into their own article (as long as they have enough real world information). This process is ignored too often, it should be utilized here. Examples of film franchise video games stubs in the same article: The articles that you reverted were stubs, they fail notability and should belong in the merged page. Please see above process for creating articles. This has not been followed. A stub article can not stand on its own. I suggest that if the articles are to be separate then they need to be up to the standard of B-class status with appropriate references. Nreive (talk) 09:52, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

The name "Scrotum" is a redirect to the Megalosaurus article. Something can be written next to the Megalosaurus entry in the list to establish this instead of having two separate names for it. See the logic? Additionally, please could you archive your talk page as it is rather long. If you require any assistance in doing this please see WP:ARCHIVE. Ralbot (talk) 06:10, 10 May 2008 (UTC) Lost Monarch RedwoodHowdy. I noticed that you helped with some clean-up edit in the article Lost Monarch (tree) At one point, it looks like you added a "citation needed" comment for the weight of the epiphyte fern mats. You probably are not going to get one. As the article says, information is being withheld by people who have seen the tree, and you may have to get it indirectly through another profession besides the scientist. There are just a handful of people who have the documents or know where to find them. The documents list some clues about locations, and for that reason, the documents won't be freely distributed. Any suggestions on alternatives for a citation, when nobody wants to disclose it? Not as a file anyway. Red rain in Kerala GA Sweeps Review: On HoldAs part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing sweeps to go over all of the current GAs and see if they still meet the GA criteria and I'm specifically going over all of the "Meteorology and atmospheric sciences" articles. I have reviewed Red rain in Kerala and believe the article currently meets the majority of the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that may need to be addressed, and I'll leave the article on hold for seven days for them to be fixed. I have left this message on your talk page since you have significantly edited the article (based on using this article history tool). Please consider helping address the several points that I listed on the talk page of the article, which shouldn't take too long to fix with the assistance of multiple editors. I have also left messages on the talk pages for other editors and related WikiProjects to spread the workload around some. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 20:54, 24 May 2008 (UTC) RongorongoHi Mgiganteus, Rongorongo is up for FAC, if you're interested in commenting. kwami (talk) 09:31, 26 May 2008 (UTC) Nancy Reagan slurHi, I would like to apologize for the actions committed under my username to Nancy Reagan. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself. If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media). If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
