User talk:MaxmanHello and welcome to my talk page, here you can leave messages for me. September 2008Hello, regarding the Reerow-Xassan article, the relationship with Sheekhaal is subject to frequent dispute, but neither side has ever provided a source for their assertion. Please cite a source for this (besides "widely regarded amongst Somali people") before restoring the statement. Thank you. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 17:04, 18 September 2008 (UTC) January 2009Hello, you characterized this edit as "reverted to this version becouse of vandalism." I made the edit in question, and (as I specified in the edit summary) I removed an unattributed sentence, which is not vandalism. If you can cite a source for the text in question, then feel free to restore it. Thank you. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 19:57, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did to Raaso. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 23:43, 17 January 2009 (UTC) March 2009I do not understand your edit to Raaso -- or the reason that is was an "unrelated story". The Shekosh Somalis settled there in 2000 according to several sources -- a simple fact. Plus you changed the spelling of several names to non-standard forms (e.g. "Imi" is far more common of an English transliteration that "Imei") without explanation, or even a mention. If you have a good reason for these edits, I'd like to hear your reasons. -- llywrch (talk) 05:10, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Not-Mog pictureYou are right it is not Mogadishu. That has been said before and someone (?someone of Somali extraction who has never seen Somalia) insists it is. Your addition to Mog Talk should have been at the bottom of the page (but you say you are new to WP) where the facts are explained which the culturally vain denier refuses to believe. I gave up correcting it and let the nonsense reflect (perhaps unfairly) on the rest of the article. I think the picture is not "stolen" from another African city but is from Malaysia where pictures of similar terrain can be found online.--SilasW (talk) 15:33, 27 May 2009 (UTC) December 2009Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Sheekhaal, as "minor" if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits. Per Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. The rule of thumb is that only vandalism/test reversions or edits consisting solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modifying content should be flagged as "minor". Thank you. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 00:35, 14 December 2009 (UTC) Please do not add content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did to Sheekhaal. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. User:CambridgeBayWeather has devised an attributed version of the clan trees for several articles. Please see comments at Category talk:Somali clans and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Somalia#Clan lineage. Thank you. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 00:35, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

All Hail The Muffin Nor does it taste nice... 16:08, 6 February 2011 (UTC) Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preferenceHello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled. On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note. Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 17:21, 15 March 2011 (UTC) A barnstar for you!
Re: "Raaso" and "Raso" are two different and distinct placesHello, I've left a response at Talk:Raaso. Better, I think, to centralize the discussion in one place, where other interested parties are more likely to see it. Thank you, -- Gyrofrog (talk) 14:58, 15 September 2011 (UTC) A barnstar for you!
SheekhaalPlease leave a comment at the articles discussion page when you want to make a change, you just change the population without giving any reason.maxman 23:37, 9 January 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maxman (talk • contribs)
Thanks for your reply, and comments about the Sheikhal population, the article refers to the entire Shiekhaal people including those living in Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia, this also includes the The Qallu and Siddiqs of Ethiopia, surely their populations is more 2 or 3 millions. please provide any data that supports your arguments. maxman 22:02, 10 January 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maxman (talk • contribs)
Please do not add unsourced content, as you did to Sheekhaal. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. The cited source says "1.5-2 Million". Either leave the figure alone, or cite a source for your figures. Actually, it may be better to delete the population number altogether, as the existing source is questionable. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 17:37, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
Your recent editsHello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 22:30, 28 January 2012 (UTC) Some falafel for you!
