Can i add google books as a reference to a person's biography page?

It depends. Not all books in google books count as reliable sources. The question is whether or not the book was published by a reliable publishing house. Since it's possible for anyone to publish a book just by paying for it, we need to look at the book. Also, it depends on the nature of the book and the information you want to add. For example, if the book is all one author's opinions, we could only add that as an opinion about the living person, and then only if the viewpoint was warranted.

So, that's a big long way of saying "it depends." If there is a specific book, biography, and piece of information you want to add, you can post that here or on the article's talk page, and then it can be evaluated. Qwyrxian (talk) 09:59, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I edited a picture from wiki commons and have created a new one,suitable for the portal i am working on. However, i don't know how to upload a picture on Wikipedia.

Hi, I've only just spotted your note on my talkpage - it was sort of buried up in some old stuff & got lost among newer activity also. Sorry about that. I realise that you can see the government pages but I find it odd that they are not visible elsewhere in the world. I know India block some sites but that is blocking of the Indian population seeing "outside" stuff, not the other way round. Anyway, I'm trying to find a way round the problem by using archived copies of the pages - although I do not dispute what you have attributed etc to those sites, it is not an ideal situation when most of the world cannot verify it. After all, verification is one of the pillars of Wikipedia. I stress, this is not your fault etc.

Sockpuppetting is when someone uses multiple accounts to perform edits, make comments etc. By using several accounts they can, for example, make it appear as if there is a consensus for a certain point of view when in fact there either is not or the consensus is actually different from the view that they wish to see. It can get very nasty. In the specific case you refer to, the person was deemed to have used multiple accounts to revert various edits which arguably should have been allowed to stand - s/he made it appear as if there were quite a few people in agreement about a certain thing when in fact there were not.

A very small number of people have the ability to perform investigations in the event that there appears to be the possibility of someone sockpuppeting, so you file a report and they check it out with tools that are not available to the rest of us. I didn't file the report in this particular instance. You can see the investigation at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Boolyme/Archive. I have no idea where the user is based.
