Today I registered for Wikipedia, wrote my bio, and tried posting a photo. Wikipedia kept giving me an error and wouldn't allow me to post the photo. It was a photo of myself that I owned. I will look into this further and look forward to learning the many layers and facets of Wikipedia.
PictureI added a basic user box to your user page that links the picture you uploaded to Wikimedia commons. You can add/edit more biographical info as desired. Have fun! I addressed it on the review's talk page. Anyway, the content is also now live on the mainspace page, jsyk. Dcb1986 (talk) 04:02, 26 February 2020 (UTC) Reflective EssayCritiquing ArticlesI learned that Wikipedia has a very distinct format and style that keeps the whole website cohesive. I learned that although Wikipedia has a lot of content, the potential for new additions is almost endless. I critiqued the Georgia Historical Commission article and realized that although they had a page about their commission, there was not a page about their largest project, historical marker erecting. I used a Who? What? When? Where? Why? method/approach to my article. Multiple organizations have erected markers. I talked about the types of markers, I mentioned the main decades of marker planting and administration change. I mentioned that they are present in all 159 counties in Georgia. And I talked about initiatives. My edits were mostly laying out the entire article from sections to contents, photos, and references. They were valuable to the article because they are the foundation of the article itself. There was no earlier version of my article. It has more content and complements the Georgia Historical Commission article. Peer ReviewPeer Review was very interesting and I felt it really helped develop my vision and understanding of what a Wikipedia article should be like. However, on the WikiEdu page when I clicked on the links of my Peers articles to review, the links were to old revisions and I unknowingly reviewed an older revision. I reviewed user:Dcb1986 and his contributions to Macon_Bacon. Then I reviewed, User:KatieRob27 and her contributions to Capricorn_Records No peers reviewed my article. I had one other editor move my page to alter the uppercase on the title. My initial thought when I noticed my page had been moved, was shocked and violated. However, that taught me how Wikipedia is free territory and it is all for the betterment of knowledge and information. He recommended changes and I made the changes the best I could. Wikipedia and Class General ThoughtsI learned that Wikipedia is unique medium and one who's appreciation comes with time. At first it felt very convoluted and difficult to maneuver through. But with time I learned its main in and outs. Assignments are Wikipedia are a unlike any other I ever done. The group assignment on the Faith of Graffiti page was frustrating. Editing conflicts was an issue and with 16 classmates and despite the talk page, I felt there was as much planning organization as I was accustomed to. I feel two group articles or for 16 students, 4 group articles would have helped appropriate the work load better and bring about better "traffic control"for working the article. Wikipedia is a very important tool, almost feeling universal and is a great medium for spreading awareness of my hobby of historic markers and would be a great starting point for those of grade school age, teachers and students, or just history lovers alike who want to learn Georgia history. History has been come cultural and political lately and its preservation and narrative has been become more vital than ever. Wikipedia and my article could help with that preservation.
