Hello, I'm Rejoy2003. I noticed that you recently removed content from Talk:Farrel Furtado without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Rejoy2003(talk) 12:02, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
@Rejoy2003: Thanks for undoing that. During my quick perusal, I didn't notice that she was born in Africa. Wikiproject politics is probably not needed, since the article is a part of Wikiproject Indian Politics, but that's up to you. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 12:05, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
@Barbusca: Welcome to Wikipedia. Not every edit to every page is validated. But, many pages have watchers. This could be the person who started the article, or others who are just interested in the subject. I've left you a message with a short list of links. I'd alos suggest that you start The Wikipedia Adventure. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:13, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft/Oral Traditions in Nigeria
Hello MPGuy2824,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Draft/Oral Traditions in Nigeria for deletion, because it's a redirect that seems implausible or is an unlikely search term.
If you don't want Draft/Oral Traditions in Nigeria to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!
Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.
@بوتان باسه وان: Welcome to Wikipedia! Regarding the language, you'll probably want to create the article on the Arabic Wikipedia. I'm not familiar with the policies there, but on the English wikipedia, we have some policies about creating articles about yourself. Please search for the translation of "Conflict of Interest" on the Arabic Wikipedia to check out their policies. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:40, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
@Rajueagle: There were quite a few things that needed fixing in the article. Some of them were done by other editors, before i got to it. You should look at the page history, to see the changes, so that you can make articles with lesser issues next time. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:40, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
This page is showing html code instead of graph on the top. There has been some vandalism recently which was reverted, and now the text is same as previous. Page link below
@WeeKeeEditor: This seems to be a general problem with all graphs, currently, see Asia#Demographics. I've alerted a few people. Hopefully it can be fixed soon. -MPGuy2824 (talk)
I recently had an article rejected due to references and notability problems. Got any advice/would be willing to take a look at the references? I've already made some decent edits I think. --EarlFitzooth (talk) 21:24, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
@EarlFitzooth: Welcome to Wikipedia. I guess you are talking about Jim Marggraff. Looks like the reviewer had a slight problem with the amount of links in the article (we call that refbombing). The bigger issue is that they found only one article (wired) that talks about the subject in-depth while being independent of the subject. A few suggestions:
Find other articles like that Wired one. Once you do, create a section on the draft's talk page mentioning your best 3 references, which in your opinion, show that the subject meets WP:GNG.
Remove references that don't/barely mention Jim. If these references were supporting a few sentences in the draft, then those should be removed as well.
The Personal Life section isn't adding much to the draft. Since they barely mention Jim, it is very distracting to a reviewer. If the draft is accepted, this section can be re-added after condensing it into 2 or 3 sentences.
The Volunteering section needs to be cut down drastically.
Thanks, that usually gets more people reading the page and hopefully some can save the thing, the local artwork is kind of unique. Randy Kryn (talk) 03:51, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
The moonstones are interesting. If you have any sources besides the flickr one, please add them to the article. Might help folks to find more. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:58, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
Oh, thanks, I didn't know about the timing. As for the page, it may be a copyright issue anyway, as Wikipedia's page looks like a copy of the Lunar Society's page on the Moonstones (or unlikely but possible visa versa?). Randy Kryn (talk) 04:04, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
I started editing the page that somebody created about our organization and the projects we run, and see it was not published. I did not pay attention to the visual editing and used the code one and I think the grey info box dissapeared eventually and I do not now how to get it back.
Hello MPGuy2824! I have rewritten a paragraph that was tagged with close paraphrasing. Do drop by and take another look if it needs additional work. Thanks for letting me know. DuckieWackie (talk) 05:40, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
@Admantine123: It looks like you found IABot yourself. Either manually, or using the IABot are the only ways i know to add archive links. Hope that helps. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:36, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
@Here Comes The Grump: Welcome to Wikipedia. I'm not sure which Larry you are talking about, so could you please provide a wikilink. In any case, it would be ok to add information provided two conditions are met:
It is encyclopedic (birth place, yes. 6th grade marksheet, no)
you have a good source for it (i.e. not some random person's blog or facebook post)
@Magfanforever: Welcome to Wikipedia. Editing is nice, but sometimes i go deep into rabbit-holes about certain topics. What areas are you interested in? Maybe i can suggest a few wikiprojects that you can join.
I've left you a message on your talk page. Go through some of the links when you find the time. I'd suggest that you start WP:TWA to get an idea of how wiki editing works. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:35, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
Thank you, yes probably i did't to fast and i didn't read the topics about how to follow the norms for a good article, thanks for you help and advise is good to know certain topics before precede with the writing. I apreciate you help thank you. Metacontentweb3 (talk) 11:51, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
@Metacontentweb3: welcome to Wikipedia! It looks like you have some trouble starting off with wikipedia editing the right way. I'd recommend that you start WP:TWA, and read some of the links that AFC reviewers have left on your talk page. If you have any questions, you can ask me. Cheers. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:32, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
Thank you, yes thank you i will read the topics before to procede. to the writing next time, i apreciate your help thanks a lot Metacontentweb3 (talk) 11:54, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
@Matthijs1808: I've made some small improvements to the draft. The major problem, currently, is that most of the sources are not independent of the organisation that set up the event. The heidelberg.de article is independent, but doesn't cover the subject in depth, since its just a couple of lines. Read WP:GNG: It is one of the fundamental ways that new articles are evaluated. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:04, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
@MPGuy2824 Yeah the big problem is that the sport is still to small to get that noticed. there is at times publicity or press but often there also is not. this makes it a bit difficult. any advise what the best route is? Matthijs1808 (talk) 08:10, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
If you're sure you've done a thorough search for sources, then you might have to give up on this draft. Hopefully, in a couple of years the sport will get enough of a following for a newspaper (or three) to cover it. I've had to abandon drafts before for lack of sources, so i know the feeling that is felt at the waste of time.
P.S. see if you get anything usable when you search for the winning team. Maybe a newspaper in Antwerp covered their win. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:21, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
Such sources might be useful if they contribute information that was not present in other refs, but they wouldn't contribute to the article's notability, since they aren't independent of the subject. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:08, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
Did a quick glance, it looks ok. I'd prefer if it goes through WP:AFC. To help the AFC reviewer, you can choose the best WP:THREE references and mention them in a new section of the draft's talk page. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:40, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
Since you are a new page reviewer. I don't know why my article Nilkamal Singh was nominated for delition.[3] It has a lot of reliable sources from important news sources.Articles about less notable Bhojpuri singers like Priyanka Singh is there. This guy has sung hundreds of song, yet, a newcomer joining Wikipedia 28 days ago nominated Nilkamal Singh for delition, despite having 15+ sources and more available on internet, which will be added by me after expansion in future. Admantine123 (talk) 07:09, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
It doesn't matter how old a wiki user's account is. What matters is whether their argument (for deletion) makes sense.
Quality is more important than quantity when we are talk about sources for a wikipedia article. The sources have to be independent, reliable, and talk about the subject in-depth (e.g. the Times of India references don't meet the in-depth criteria). Since, this article has many references, you should choose the best WP:THREE and add them as a list to your comment on the AfD.
You can continue expanding the article while the AfD is going on, but i'd suggest that you only add any sources that talk about the guy for more than 2-3 sentences. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 07:28, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
Regarding an edit conflict on the article "Rattan Lal Kataria"
Hey,
Two reverts have been made by you on this article and I'd like to address this issue with you personally. The article is a stub per Wikipedia:Stub, and the consensus among most Wikipedians is that a stub article is an article with less than 250 words. However, there is no set amount of words, characters or such made publicly official. Please note that the article doesn't meet the normal encyclopedic requirements to be a non-stub article, and refrain from making further reverts in the edit without any reasoning.
@Twistedaxe: We don't call that an edit conflict, but i get your point. In this case, I didn't realise that someone had reverted my removal of the stub tag, which is why i did it again without improvement to the article. Don't worry, I'll leave the stub tag alone for this article. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:02, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
Hello -- I have joined Wikipedia to create a page for an outstanding work of art that has attracted significant critical attention, which I think justifies its inclusion in Wikipedia. I will be gathering the supporting documentation over the next few weeks, and hope to start creating the page once this process is complete. --Abby8266 (talk) 06:41, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
@Abby8266: Welcome to Wikipedia. That's a good short term goal you have. My suggestion is that you start with a draft of the article that you intend to create, in your sandbox. Then you can add references as and when you find them, and slowly build up the article. If you reply back on this thread once you've started the draft, I'd be able to provide feedback. Also, you could look at other similar articles for inspiration. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:54, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
Let's split the work. I know it is a little awkward to award oneself, so maybe you can give the awards (both normal and streak) for everyone who got 400 or more points, and i can do the rest. I'll start after you finish. In any case, we have to wait till the 4th since i told people that they can submit their CSD logs till 3rd midnight. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 01:51, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
Sounds good, also CSD logs should have week calculations for the streak awards so I might have to go and calculate all that for the people who submitted CSD logs. Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 08:00, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
I've asked people to state if any award levels change. So, just a verification for such folk will be needed. I don't expect too many. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:02, 2 June 2023 (UTC)

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I was just wondering, what's the best articles to start with? I'd like to focus mainly on referencing to back up the claims on here, and also correcting some of my expert knowledge. --Fletcherpoole (talk) 16:20, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
@Fletcherpoole: Welcome to Wikipedia. From your edits you looks like you are interested in Medicine/Fitness. You could join a wikiproject (WikiProject Medicine in this case). Each wikiproject has a list of todos for articles within that project. For Medicine, the list is here. Since you are looking to start with adding references, you should go the section "Cites no sources". Hope that helps. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:48, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
New Pages Patrol newsletter June 2023
Hello MPGuy2824,
Backlog
Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.
Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.
Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.
You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.
Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

Hello @MPGuy2824, I hope you're doing well. Can you spare a moment and list down my flaws related to my article creation and suggest some improvements. Also I'm have 2 copyvio and a block. Thanks for your consideration. C1K98V(💬✒️📂)04:42, 20 June 2023 (UTC)
Hi C1K98V, I assume that you are contacting me because you've recently seen me nominating a few folk for the autopatrolled right. I've just started on that, and am currently nominating folks who create articles where UPE isn't even considered (Who would pay someone to create species articles?). Now on to your question: your copyright issue seems to be from some time ago and you've been nominating revisions for rev-del due to copyright, so i guess an admin would say that you are hyper-aware of copyright issues now. The same goes for your block which was also related to copyright. That said, why do you want this right? This right isn't of any use to the holder, as you know. It is more to reduce the burden on the NPP team.
@MPGuy2824 Thanks for the welcome to nop team. Yeah I came across your edits that you're nominating users. I have a past history of block/copyvio, which I always try to be transparent with and acknowledge it. Also I'm aware that having autopatrol won't bring any changes in my editing and I like having a second pair of eyes who look after my creation. Now coming to your question why I want the right is because the first and foremost reason is to reduce the burden from the npp team. As I believe that I have learnt from my past mistakes and it's evident from my recent creation too. Only one issue is flagged which I'm dedicated/intent to improve, if I can't then I will take it in Afd for community consensus to decide on it. And if there are any other issues which I missed I'm happy to work on your suggestion. Thanks for your consideration C1K98V(💬✒️📂)15:30, 20 June 2023 (UTC)
I recently nominated someone who had a copyright warning some time back and it was rejected. Since you say that you'd prefer having the second pair of eyes on your creations, i don't think that you should consider autopatrolled for yourself. Cheers and happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:01, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
@Theraza: Welcome to Wikipedia. I see that you've already started on the draft at Draft:Ahmed Raza Chuhdary. The next step to getting the draft approved is to show notability. Wikipedia's definition of notability says that the subject needs 2-3 secondary, reliable sources that talk about the subject in-depth. The sources that are present right now in the article aren't secondary. One is the website of his company, and one is his personal website. Have some news/magazine sites done a profile piece on him? I'd suggest that you not worry about the templates/infoboxes for now. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 07:42, 20 June 2023 (UTC)
Even lists on Wikipedia need to meet a notability criteria (WP:NLIST in this case). I'm sure you can start by adding relevant references from each of those articles. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:22, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
The ford one has some references, but it should be ok if you want to add the unreferenced tag to the audi one. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:55, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
New pages patrol needs your help!
Hello MPGuy2824,
The New Page Patrol team is sending you this impromptu message to inform you of a steeply rising backlog of articles needing review. If you have any extra time to spare, please consider reviewing one or two articles each day to help lower the backlog. You can start reviewing by visiting Special:NewPagesFeed. Thank you very much for your help.

Changes later this week
The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 4 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 5 July. It will be on all wikis from 6 July (calendar).
Hello! I noticed you moved my article on Georg Kawerau into the drafts, claiming it lacked notability. To this, I say a few things. First, the article exists in several other languages, and clearly it's notable enough for them; given the important contributions the archeologist made to Greek archeology, information on him ought to be accessible in English too. Second, the article is NOT unsourced; there IS a bibliography, and while sources don't correspond to specific lines (which admittedly is unideal), I lack access to the original hard-copy sources since I'm translating other articles, and didn't write it originally. Third, Georg Kawerau is linked in several other articles, and has an entire section devoted to him in the feature article Panagiotis Kavvadias, so clearly he's notable. While the article can be improved, it's better to have a quite decent amount of knowledge accessible to English speakers than to have nothing at all. Let the perfect not be the enemy of the good. We both seek to make Wikipedia better and information more freely accessible; deletion of a perfectly fine article serves neither of our interests. Please respond on my talk page (because that's where I check). If you don't, I'll be restoring the article. Thank you. Gug01 (talk) 02:56, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
Hi there, you tagged the page I created as needing more references, but I have just copied the model of the Awards page for 2022, 2019, 2018 etc. which only have one reference to the awards page as well. Why should the page I created be different? Can you explain? Thank you so much Musicalge3k5 (talk) 12:19, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
@Musicalge3k5: If you look at the page history of 2008 WhatsOnStage Awards, you'll notice that I added the unreferenced tag to it when it had 0 references. Then you added a ref, following which another reviewer correctly changed the tag to a more-citations-needed tag. Even lists on Wikipedia need to follow notability guidelines (WP:NLIST in this case). Adding 1 or 2 more references would help the article. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:43, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
I just want to let you know that there are no self published sources on List of actions by Major Singh Johal. You had marked this page as having self published sources. It was just sources whose publisher I didn’t add, but now I have added the publisher to all sources on the page.
pptesting.in still seems weird to me. Also, can you add the citations to the individual table rows. There is no particuar need for a separate column for the sources. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:18, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
Also, if there were dates (even rough ones) to the various rows it would make them easy to refute/confirm. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:23, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
@MPGuy2824 After digging / getting others to dig through old punjabi newspapers I find discussed in Punjabi newspapers and searching online I come across very little. It is mentioned in big Punjab Newspapers like Ajit but nothing in english other than a detail here or there. Maybe through more digging I can find something. CanadianSingh1469 (talk) 03:48, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
Through more digging not a whole lot turned up. I will add all the Punjabi newspapers, and the few english sources to the page soon. CanadianSingh1469 (talk) 04:18, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
Many of the sources (like the hook2book ones) aren't checkable online.
Wikipedia is not supposed to be used as a reference (Ajit newspaper)
I've checked a few of the google books links at random. Unable to get a search hit for Johal on the ones that i tried. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:21, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
1. The reason why it isn’t checkable online is simply because it is in Punjabi. Punjabi books aren’t easily available online.
2. Wikipedia isn’t being cited. Ajit newspaper is being cited. I just link to the Ajit wikipedia page since the issue I am talking about isn’t available digitally as I have it physically.
Hey, there is no particular need to ping me on my own talk page. I get notifications of changes/additions anyway. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:17, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
Sorry, I just wasn’t sure if you had seen the message. Is there any other problems with the page? I have addressed the ones you raised. :)
The Ajit paper link will have to be split into separate references for each table row with a separate date and article title for each. Consider putting a 2-3 sentence biographical paragraph in the lead of this article. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:24, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
No, that's ok. I've tried to verify stuff, but nothing seems available online, as you said. Maybe a reviewer with access to the old copies of the newspaper would be able to review the article. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:37, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
I've been told (and i agree) that the same person draftifying a lot of articles is a bit hounding to new editors. I've messaged their talk page with a suggestion to start drafts in draftspace using the article wizard. Hope that works! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:12, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
Hi, feels great to have you as a mentor here on Wikipedia.. I've gone through series of demo videos on how to edit and add articles on Wikipedia. This Is just me saying “Hi” to you and surely, I'll be back here as soon as I need help. Thanks boss --1undisputed (talk) 10:23, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
@1undisputed: Hi back! Welcome to wikipedia editing. Try not to be overwhelmed by all the information. Start with simple things and go on from there. I would recommend completing Wikipedia:TWA. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:55, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
Reviewing of my article
I tried something different this time; wrote a lot of Politician biography, but this time its an IPS officer. Can you please review as i can't wait to get it appear at mainspace. See Chandan Kushwaha.-Admantine123 (talk) 19:36, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
@Admantine123: To meet WP:GNG you need to show 2-3 secondary, reliable sources that cover the subject in-depth. I checked the first 3 references in the article and they don't meet the in-depth criteria. What according to you are the three best sources in the article?
Though, detail source about his personal life is not available as of now, but i created it on the basis of Notability criteria for officeholders. The criteria of significant role (He is currently Commandant of Home Gaurds, a post equal in rank to DG) and significant media coverage is fulfilled. He was involved in unearthing "Bodhgaya serial blasts", arrest of JDU MLA Anant Singh and is covered regularly by the media. He is also not known for WP:1EVENT. I have seen articles of many bureaucrats here on mainspace which are written on same basis. I recently nominated one of them for delition thinking what you are saying, but it was saved on criteria i have listed above. Talking about this Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Balmiki Prasad Singh, similarly Abhayanand, Rajesh Kumar (IPS), Anuj Sharma (IPS) and many more also exists, here also no source tells about his personal life in depth and his article is based on his initiatives only and sources are also backing the same. Anyways thanks, let see what any other new page reviewer thinks.-Admantine123 (talk) 04:48, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
The only AfD that you linked to is where the subject passes NPOL due to his governor stint. Local heads of police would need to pass GNG. Anyway, like you said, another new page reviewer can take a look at it. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:27, 10 July 2023 (UTC)

The Section-level Image Suggestions feature has been deployed on seven Wikipedias (Portuguese, Russian, Indonesian, Catalan, Hungarian, Finnish and Norwegian Bokmål). The feature recommends images for articles on contributors' watchlists that are a good match for individual sections of those articles.
Special:BlockedExternalDomains is a new tool for administrators to help fight spam. It provides a clearer interface for blocking plain domains (and their subdomains), is more easily searchable, and is faster for the software to process for each edit on the wiki. It does not support regex (for complex cases), nor URL path-matching, nor the MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist, but otherwise it replaces most of the functionalities of the existing MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. There is a Python script to help migrate all simple domains into this tool, and more feature details, within the tool's documentation. It is available at all wikis except for Meta-wiki, Commons, and Wikidata. [7]
The WikiEditor extension was updated. It includes some of the most frequently used features of wikitext editing. In the past, many of its messages could only be translated by administrators, but now all regular translators on translatewiki can translate them. Please check the state of WikiEditor localization into your language, and if the "Completion" for your language shows anything less than 100%, please complete the translation. See a more detailed explanation.

The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 11 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 12 July. It will be on all wikis from 13 July (calendar).
The default protocol of Special:LinkSearch and API counterparts has changed from http to both http and https. [8]
Special:LinkSearch and its API counterparts will now search for all of the URL provided in the query. It used to be only the first 60 characters. This feature was requested fifteen years ago. [9]

There is an experiment with a ChatGPT plugin. This is to show users where the information is coming from when they read information from Wikipedia. It has been tested by Wikimedia Foundation staff and other Wikimedians. Soon all ChatGPT plugin users can use the Wikipedia plugin. This is the same plugin which was mentioned in Tech News 2023/20. [10]
There is an ongoing discussion on a proposed Third-party resources policy. The proposal will impact the use of third-party resources in gadgets and userscripts. Based on the ideas received so far, policy includes some of the risks related to user scripts and gadgets loading third-party resources, some best practices and exemption requirements such as code transparency and inspectability. Your feedback and suggestions are warmly welcome until July 17, 2023 on on the policy talk page.
Hi, saw your request at the India project page. I am on the WP app & it won't let me post there (or any other project talk page). I have tweaked the caste mention in the early years bit of the article to reflect common usage. Obviously, revert if inappropriate! I haven't checked the rest of the article but if there are any other queries re caste there then perhaps ping me. - Sitush (talk) 11:58, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

MediaWiki system messages will now look for available local fallbacks, instead of always using the default fallback defined by software. This means wikis no longer need to override each language on the fallback chain separately. For example, English Wikipedia doesn't have to create en-ca and en-gb subpages with a transclusion of the base pages anymore. This makes it easier to maintain local overrides. [11]
The action=growthsetmentorstatus API will be deprecated with the new MediaWiki version. Bots or scripts calling that API should use the action=growthmanagementorlist API now. [12]
Hi WikiAnchor10, new pages need to be reviewed before search engines are allowed to index them. There is currently a backlog of 6500 articles for the New pages patrol team to go through. Don't worry, someone will get to your article eventually. Please read Help:Unreviewed new page if you want fuller explanation. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:39, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
@Lamia00o Welcome to Wikipedia. Since this is your first (and only) edit on the english wikipedia, I'll assume that you mean to delete your contribution on the Arabic wikipedia. Since it is in your userspace there, you can just blank it (i.e remove all text). If you really want to delete the page (and not just blank it), I'll have to do a bit more research on how to get that done on the ar.wiki. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:29, 23 July 2023 (UTC)

Hey there! Hope you're having a great day. Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia with your article. I'm happy to inform you that your article has adhered to Wikipedia's policies, so I've marked it as reviewed. Have a fantastic day for you and your family!

@SunDawn wow, you leave the most amazing 'reviewed' messages. In this case however, the credit isn't mine, but belongs to @Bauheldin who converted the redirect into an article. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:17, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
@Mayega Tadeo Bakwatanesa: Welcome to Wikipedia. Since you have a conflict of interest with the person that you want to write the article about, I'd recommend that you start the article in your sandbox, and submit it through WP:AFC. Wikipedia has strict rules on notability of subjects, so I recommend that you read WP:RS and start with finding sources that show the notability of the person that you are managing. If you add them to the sandbox link first, I can take a look at them and advise you further. Another editor has already welcomed you on your talk page and added a list of links. You should definitely go through the "conflict of interest guide" before doing any of the above. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:40, 3 August 2023 (UTC)

This is the 2nd time an already published and linked page I created was put to the draftspace without a redirection. Shouldn't there be a detailed pro/contra discussion on whether an article is removed and/or deleted, especially when it's several weeks old and linked already, instead of one administrator deciding all of a sudden to remove a page? Glasfaser Wien (talk) 08:22, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
Just to clarify, I am not an admin. WP:DRAFTIFY says that older articles should not be draftified, but the rule of thumb mentioned there is to consider a cut-off of 90 days. In this case, the article was just 10 days old. Could you please add some references to the article that help it meet WP:GNG? Thanks, and happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:26, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
But if you decide to turn an article into a draft, look up for any links to it from any pages, and bother with them too. Otherwise, the links no longer lead anywhere. And if an article is more than seven days old and has links to it, I believe there should be a removal discussion before it is made a draft. In case the draft is restored to an article, the links will have to be renewed as well. Glasfaser Wien (talk) 10:40, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
But if you decide to turn an article into a draft, look up for any links to it from any pages, and bother with them too. Since we aren't supposed to link to drafts from mainspace articles, these would be better as red links, which are acceptable in many sections of an article. If someone tries to create an article from the red link, they would be reminded that a draft with the same name already exists, and they hopefully should improve the draft. Also, this way, if/when the draft is reconverted into an article, there is nothing that needs to be done about renewing links in other articles.
I'll also note that you are allowed to move the draft back to mainspace, per WP:DRAFTOBJECT. I would advise you not to do that with the current state of the draft though, but only after adding some references. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:58, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
Alright, I added two sources and let the page be reviewed. However, now the template says the review may take 4 months or more. That wasn't my intent. The page would be removed from the mainspace for months now when it has been there already. Glasfaser Wien (talk) 13:25, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
Recently, i got a notification from you regarding some improvement in Alok Kumar Shakya. I was not the creator of page but I moved it as the name was in his official affidavit and on website of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.I want to know more about Page movers right, in your words though i have read about it that after getting that right one will be able to move the pages without leaving a redirect, that happened in case case of moving this page.-Admantine123 (talk) 08:41, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Regarding the page mover right, the most use I get out of it is when I'm draftifying articles. In that case, redirects to draftspace aren't allowed on mainspace, and so it is appropriate to move without leaving a redirect. Once you do a lot of moves where the redirect is subsequently deleted, you should consider applying for the right, not before. Happy editing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:27, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Hi, I have a new question. On the Korean Reunification Flag article, someone made an unsourced (possibly good-faith) edit, and I’m not sure whether or not I should revert. --QuicksmartTortoise513 (talk) 22:30, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
In general, you have three options:
Remove the unsourced sentence completely
Add a "citation needed" tag to the sentence
Find a ref for the sentence yourself, and add it to the article.
Your choice would depend on how useful/appropriate this new addition is to the article and if you are easily able to find a relevant ref. If you could link to the specific edit in question, i could be more specific.
Hi. The article Elizabeth Jane Bullard is having more than 60% of copyright violations, detected by the tool. However, I am not able to determine whether or not the source is freely licenced for use. What should I do in this situation? Thilsebatti (talk) 05:54, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
The site has a copyright tag at the bottom, but I'm not sure if that applies to the individual self-published book. I've asked on the NPP Discord. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable is able to reply soon. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:31, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
Hi! If a publication does not clearly state its licensing terms, we need to assume that content there is not freely licensed. If nothing is stated, that means the authors retain all rights to their work, and we can‘t normally use it (except for fair use like quotes).
Looking at the copyvio report, some of the affected text is fine. It‘s mostly quotes, proper names, and some sentences that would be hard to rewrite in a natural way. However, a lot is also copied from the source, including some sentences that contain quotes (this is again copyvio, because the issue isn‘t the quote itself, it‘s the sentence around it).
From WP:BASIC: People who meet the basic criteria may be considered notable without meeting the additional criteria below. If WP:BASIC (which is very similar to GNG) is met, notability is established :) Actualcpscmscrutinize, talk06:27, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

Hi,
I created an account because a the page for a subject I know well (Clovis Culture) is poorly organized and lacking essential information. Further, it includes a lot of superfluous information that probably should be moved to a separate topic.
I'm considering having my college class contribute to the page as a class project. Do you have any recommendations or suggestions for taking this on?
I'm considering having my college class contribute to the page as a class project. Do you have any recommendations or suggestions for taking this on? I think this would be a useful link for you to go through. Even if you don't join that, i think reading a few of the testimonials might give you ideas for assignments. I'd suggest that students work on their assignments in their own userspace, or as a draft; with only you moving their finished creations to mainspace, since Wikipedia has a Manual of style which would be different from a normal college essay.
it includes a lot of superfluous information that probably should be moved to a separate topic. You should read WP:SPLIT and then propose a split on Clovis culture's talk page. As part of the changes for the better diff handling of paragraph splits, improved detection of splits is being rolled out. Over the last two weeks, we deployed this support to group0 and group1 wikis. This week it will be deployed to group2 wikis. [32]
All Special:Contributions pages now show the user's local edit count and the account's creation date. [33]
Wikisource users can now use the prpbengalicurrency label to denote Bengali currency characters as page numbers inside the <pagelist> tag. [34]
Two preferences have been relocated. The preference "Enable the visual editor" is now shown on the "Editing" tab at all wikis. Previously it was shown on the "Beta features" tab at some wikis. The preference "Use the wikitext mode inside the visual editor, instead of a different wikitext editor" is now also shown on the "Editing" tab at all wikis, instead of the "Beta features" tab. [35][36]
Changes later this week
The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 29 August. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 30 August. It will be on all wikis from 31 August (calendar).
All right-to-left language wikis, plus Korean, Armenian, Ukrainian, Russian, and Bulgarian Wikipedias, will have a link in the sidebar that provides a short URL of that page, using the Wikimedia URL Shortener. This feature will come to more wikis in future weeks. [37]

The removal of the DoubleWiki extension is being discussed. This extension currently allows Wikisource users to view articles from multiple language versions side by side when the <=> symbol next to a specific language edition is selected. Comments on this are welcomed at the phabricator task.
A proposal has been made to merge the second hidden-categories list (which appears below the wikitext editing form) with the main list of categories (which is further down the page). More information is available on Phabricator; feedback is welcome!
AFAIK, the closest that I've come to this is requesting the speedy deletion of the redirect Joe Buckv, which is an implausable search term for "Joe Buck". The article remains safe. Cheers! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:54, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
Hi -- I've tried to start a sandbox page... but to be honest I am completely overwhelmed by all the terminology and instructions. I was not albe to insert photos from my computer which is frustrating. I have no idea if what I wrote in my Sandbox has been saved! I am about to give up.... Can you help? --Abby8266 (talk) 10:35, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
Start small. You haven't saved anything on your sandbox (I can see by looking at your contributions). For now, save the draft on your computer in a text file. I'd suggest that you do WP:TWA to get you familiar with the first few steps of creating/editing. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:40, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
@Abby8266: Uploading and using images are slightly harder than just editing text. I'd suggest that you create a few sentence of the text content of the article first, and then i'll give you links which will help you to upload an image to wikipedia. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:43, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks -- I think I have just successfully saved my sandbox? I'd really like your comments/suggestions on it. It really needs more references, but I wasn't sure how to add a reference list at the end of the article, and it also really needs illustrations -- i tried to add a photo i had saved on my computer but "it" wouldn't let me.... Abby8266 (talk) 11:20, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
@Abby8266:I think I have just successfully saved my sandbox? Yes you have, here. I'll be making small fixes to the draft over the day. Please look at the changes i make (along with the edit summary) so that your articles are more wikipedia-ready in the future.
Since you really seem intent on adding an image soon, you should go to Wikipedia:File upload wizard and add one image. Please ensure that you answer all copyright and ownership questions properly, as Wikipedia takes that quite seriously. Once you successfully upload an image there, you can add it to your draft. Ping me if you need any help. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:59, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
I've made some fixes. Some suggestions:
Split some of the text into a new section: maybe History or Details
Wikilink all the museums which have a wiki page. Also wikilink terms that an average reader would like more details on, e.g. "Mesozoic era".
I've improved one ref with more details, you can improve the rest.
I've changed a couple of measurements to use a template, you can use the same template for the rest.
Just to let you know, there's something funny going on with AFCRHS2: you accepted multiple requests, creating the pages, but AFC/RC didn't get updated (the requests are still open). Pinging Eejit43. Edward-Woodrow :) [talk]13:36, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
Hey, just faced the problem again, although my internet seems to be ok right now. See [38] for a screenshot of the progress notification box. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 07:15, 3 September 2023 (UTC)

Will do next time. I haven't looked at the code for the script, but if there is a way to only run a few editing threads in parallel, instead of all of them, it might help the issue. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:04, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
I was trying to move it, but unable to do so. Thanks for clarifying. Also, since you track politics related articles. Please keep a tab on ServerCSS. This user is creating a lot of article, adding surname Yadav to subject's name. However, no source they put, mention the name of subject as such. It was ok, if the subject had an alternative name, but in articles created by him, this is not so.Admantine123 (talk) 09:56, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
Have you tried warning them on their talk page? Best case, they have a conversation with you and be better in the future. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 10:18, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
hi -- so today I managed to upload 3 photos using the upload wizzard, but now I seem to have lost my "sandbox" so can't try to upload the photos to the page I'm trying to build and I also can't find the edits you made -- when I log in i just get a message saying "page does not exist" Help! --Abby8266 (talk) 13:54, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
Hi -- sorry to bombard you -- I have now found my sandbox again, but have no idea how to insert the 3 photos that I successfully created and uploaded using the "wizard" -- where do they go? --Abby8266 (talk) 13:59, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
sorry to bombard you No problem, that what I'm here for.
no idea how to insert the 3 photos I've chosen one of the images (File:Black Gold Tapestry Sea Battle.jpg) as a lead image. You can add the other images in a new section called gallery, just above the references.
Hehe, no I didn't create the first barnstar. That was created early in wiki history (pre 2005), whereas my account is not even 3 years old. I did award the NPP barnstars retroactively for the past few years. I guess that led to the confusion. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:02, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
Your account is 3 years old and you've made 81,461 edits. A barnstar for you!
Just wondering what the requirements are for the "Fresh Reviewer of the month" Award at NPP - is it for the top reviewer among those first granted the right in a given month? I would have thought I would have qualified as Thilsebatti was initially given the right in July, but I'm fine if that's not how it works. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:27, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
Hi BeanieFan. To make sure that all of the newer reviewers are judged on the same period, I consider the reviews done during the whole month of August, for reviewers who joined anytime in July. Since you were given the patroller right in August, you are in the running for the September award. If none of the new reviewers were able to do at least 100 reviews, then there is no award for that month. Hope that explains it. Happy reviewing! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:59, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

As part of the changes for the Better diff handling of paragraph splits wishlist proposal, the inline switch widget in diff pages is being rolled out this week to all wikis. The inline switch will allow viewers to toggle between a unified inline or two-column diff wikitext format. [48]
Future changes
All wikis will be read-only for a few minutes on 20 September. This is planned at 14:00 UTC. More information will be published in Tech News and will also be posted on individual wikis in the coming weeks. [49]
The Enterprise API is launching a new feature called "breaking news". Currently in BETA, this attempts to identify likely "newsworthy" topics as they are currently being written about in any Wikipedia. Your help is requested to improve the accuracy of its detection model, especially on smaller language editions, by recommending templates or identifiable editing patterns. See more information at the documentation page on MediaWiki or the FAQ on Meta.
The articles in poor state are on Wikipedia's mainspace and this article is comparatively clean, with all content that can be added for a one time MLA. It was moved by some new user, when I just wrote one line of the intro. Consider moving it to mainspace as soon as possible.-Admantine123 (talk) 04:46, 16 September 2023 (UTC)
I guess you figured out that you could move this yourself. The article can be made better by doing the following:
Reduce information about his father and who his father beat in elections
Give a good reference for the father-son relationship
Don't mention detailed information in the lead that is repeated in a later section anyway.
This is a former constituency. Right now, my focus is on de-stubbing current constituencies and making sure that they have coordinates and infoboxes. Once that is closer to completion, i'll think about former constituencies. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:07, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
It means in delimitation exercise it ceased to exist. Anyways, whenever you create it, let me know. The deputy speaker Hina Kawre's Father and Mother were multiple times MLAs from there. I will create articles on them after you create that constituency. Admantine123 (talk) 06:50, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
You can create articles for those MLAs now. They can be linked from the corresponding state assembly election articles, if that was your concern. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 06:52, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
