OTT GA review

Man, You've had me defending a failure of one of your Slayer articles to a perniticky reviewer, and now you've come and given the OTT approach to one of WPBeatles' articles - Brian Epstein!

• The Beatles went on to have massive international success. Although its a lead such a bold claim needs a reference - Citations rarely go in the lead, and not for a statement as safe as that. Everybody knows The Beatles had extraordinarily massive success, including even those people who think they are crap.
• please add WP:PDATA at the bottom of the article - Since when has that been needed for GA?
• and later controlled the Epstein family's music outlets, which became highly successful. POV statement - Not so much POV as needing a source.

Feeder (band) GA review feedback

Hi!, thank you for your review regarding this article!. I have deleted sentences I am unable to citate due to a lack of information on the internet, and so have used sentences that I am able to, and have also followed each point you listed and ammended the article to meet each of these :-).

The images that have not been verified correctly, I have taken away from the article, I do not know where the original uploader got them from as I just copied and pasted them from the articles for the albums themselves plus the "Two Colours EP".

If it is in the criteria that a good article has a good use of images, I will re-add these and try to get a correct verification for these.

Am looking forward to your next useful dose of feedback and advice on the newly edited article!!!.

Your reversion re: Galactic tide

As far as I'm aware, the Galactic tide article has never been officially rated as B-Class. Before I submitted it for GA consideration, it had not received any rating whatsoever from the Astronomy wikiproject. Eventually someone listed it as a good article; no review or reason was given. Subsequently, an anonymous user delisted its Good Article status, and listed it as B-Class, again with no review or rationale given. Because of that user's anonymous status, I took the de-listing as vandalism and reverted it. Someone at the astronomy wikiproject then rated it GA class in line with the top. It seems that this article has been repeatedly rated without much forethought. If there is going to be a rating for this article, whatever the outcome, I would like to know that it was the result of a considered review. Serendipodous 10:17, 26 March 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Ok. Here's the deal. You're gonna have to change it to something like KLF Communications first. Pay attention to fair use, which cropped up when that article was FL'd unsuccessfully. Then;

• I'd suggest carting the singles, compilation appearances etc. off into their own article.

• Split the album discography into appropriate sections. Perhaps one for the Metal Blade years, one for RIN up to Seasons, one for the sans Lombardo years, and then one for Lombardo's return.

• Annotate each of these sections so that it tells the reader about how they signed to each record label etc. Also about chart positions, album awards, and RIAA discs.

• Writing an intro to summarise the article.

1. Remember to add any info about label / distributor changes etc. Get rid of all the columns and follow the format used by KLF Communications. All the info in the columns make into stubby sentences.

2. As concerns when you list each album, follow the example set by [[KLF Communications. Make sure to have track listing etc. Pay attention to fair use with the album covers.

Chart position it says? Which chart though? Fill these in as follows; "5 (US), 20 (UK), etc. etc."

Fill in the ones without their disc certification (change that to RIAA certification for clarity).

Citate every chart position and every RIAA certification.

Write an intro for the Metal Blade section about how they signed to the label etc, and citate every sentence if possible

Same for Def Jam, and explain also why they left Blade.

Same for American Recordings, and explain why they left Def Jam (check SOH article). See if you can find out more info about Rubin changing distributors every five minutes for this one.

I think some of the comments he made were rubbish to be honest, especially the bit about "Grammy winning" being POV - it's a fact that it won the gong, not some opinionated BS. Additionally, his comments about a "Music and structure" section are rather naff too - Slayer has made no comments on the structure, and if I used the BS crap of reviewers it'd kill off the "Critical reception" section. Removal of trivia from Rick Rubin

Thanks for removing trivia sections. They are by definition 'trivial' and hence non-notable (and interesting doesn't make notable). Unfortunately I've found that such moves often bring out apparently bored editors with nothing encyclopedic to add and it can be a fight to manage. My only general concern about removing trivia sections is that we don't actually remove something notable that should go in the main article. Trivia annoys me just as much as "In Popular Culture Sections" where people with nothing notable to add put in irrelevant references to their favourite video game into such articles as Sydney Opera House or Orang Utan. If we do this per other FAs like "Angel of Death" and "Christ Illusion", criterion 1. c. will not be able to be disputed in its FAC. Makes the FAC much easier. I disagree with Michealas10, as it came up in two GACs of the Projects in the past, namely Jeff Hanneman and Still Reigning. If it can be raised at GAC it certainly can at FAC. Anyone can object based on 1c if a cite only covers one paragraph (and when you get one object sometimes a few more follow), and no offence but the "vast majority of FAs" ain't worthy of the star. Um, I don't believe the reviewers at both GAC's were experienced enough with the process to assert such changes. One reference per paragraph is perfectly fine, and duplication of the same one at each sentence is badly-formatted and bothers the fluency of reading. Hey, nice work on all the metal articles, especially Slayer (one of my favorites, saw them at Ozzfest '99 a while back). My band covers Reign in Blood (I play guitar) all the time (it's killer on the drums for my brother, since he smokes cigarettes). Hah.

Some song articles

Would you take a look at the peer reviews for Today (song) and Tonight, Tonight? I've been the only respondent so far, and "Today" definitely has the potential to be an FA. There's some stuff from the Guitar World article about the music itself, but I'm not sure where you guys would like it to go. It's generally about specific songs rather than the album as a whole, aside from the mention of the alternate tunings. One of the more notable things I feel is this passage:

"GW: Tom, how did you approach your vocals on the new album?

"ARAYA: I'm doing a lot of over-the-top screaming, more so than on the last two albums. With Kerry's songs, it's more aggro. But I still have to put some singing into it. The least I could do is scream in key."

Apologies if this is not the right place for it, but about your check list:

• References go after a full-stop done
• External links in the infobox, remove them done
• Way too many one sentence paragraphs, merge, remove or expand them. done
• Sezen Aksu and the Tarkan image need fair use There are pictures of four artists now - what if we just removed them? They are there only to show what the artists look like
• Trim down the external links and 'see also' if you can looking into
• Web references arent formatted properly Do you mean the ALL sites in the external links and footnotes, too? The ones in the reference section are cited properly as far as I can see
• music of Turkey should be the first thing mentioned in the article, not in the second sentence done
• The roots of traditional music in Turkey spans across the centuries to a time, remove 'the' done
• even before pre-Turkic, remove 'even' done

Orphaned fair use image (Image:SuicidalTomAraya.PNG)

Thanks for uploading Image:SuicidalTomAraya.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Thanks for the feedback. I went thru the article with a native English speaker (I speak Finnish, not Swedish natively) and fixed most of what you commented on. Some points I don't agree with:

• Some Point of view issues - "successful albums and is also a popular television performer." – I would say platinum and gold records, 20+ television appeararances in a year substantiate the claim. I added some facts that were removed while cleaning the discography for explicitness.
• the second album proved to be anticipated, try avoid weasel words like anticipated, WP:WEASEL – I think gold certification before release date counts as anticipation.

GAC backlog elimination drive

This form message is being sent to you either due to your membership with WikiProject Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. A new drive has been started requesting that all members review at least one article (or more, if you wish!) within the next two weeks at GAC to help in removing the large backlog. No problem. I was just trying to fix it so that less words are used, and yet the same point is made. It avoids the stream of commas then, and hopefully cuts down on Tony1's concerns. Being someone who speaks to him on Wikipedia, he knows his 1a and'll seize on any 1a concerns. I've never read McIver's books, though I hope he does Slayer justice and it isn't one of those "slapped up in five minutes" type books. I'm definitely going to purchase that book - with that in tow we may just well get Slayer to featured topic status. I have no problems with you not voting at "Eyes" - I doubt if any proper opposes will materialise with it. I've just fixed the lead on SOH and wondering what to do with it.. what do you think?
