Notability of Alexander OliverA tag has been placed on Alexander Oliver requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article. If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 01:50, 7 March 2008 (UTC) EditingWith regard to the children of the above. The way to name them is within a sentence not as a list. Also the source you gave at familysearch only led to a search page and not to any information about him. The article needs sources to assert his notability first and foremost, otherwise a "Prod" tag will probably end up being added.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 02:14, 7 March 2008 (UTC) The familysearch link you have now added again only leads to a blank search page and nothing else. Sources should also be added "inline" within the article and not added in the references section. Please have a look at these articles, WP:HOW, WP:CITE, WP:VER and WP:RS. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 02:19, 7 March 2008 (UTC) Sorry but I have again reverted another of your edits. The tags on the article are still valid and should only be removed once the issues are dealt with, no matter whether there is also the underconstruction tag also on the article.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 03:02, 7 March 2008 (UTC) Adding signatures to articlesThank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I've noticed that you've been adding your signature to some of your article contributions. This is a simple mistake to make and is easy to correct. For future reference, the need to associate edits with users is taken care of by an article's edit history. Therefore, you should use your signature only when contributing to talk pages, the Village Pump, or other such discussion pages. For a better understanding of what distinguishes articles from these type of pages, please see What is an article?. Again, thanks for contributing, and enjoy your Wikipedia experience! Thank you. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 03:09, 7 March 2008 (UTC) Alexander OliverI have already explained above that familysearch does not work as a source, which in addition even if it did work is not a valid source. I have also explained that you should not keep removing the tags. I will though ask you once again to stop removing the tags. You are clearly editing out of good faith but wikipedia has very specific guidelines about editing and creating articles. I really would urge you to read up about how to edit articles.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 03:13, 7 March 2008 (UTC) Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Thomas Oliver (1582 - 1658) do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.
Thomas Oliver (1582 - 1658)A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Thomas Oliver (1582 - 1658), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the I deleted your article, Samuel S. Lewis (Texas), because there was no assertion of notability. Just being a soldier in the Texas Revolution is not enough to justify a stand-alone article about someone. I've been reading books on the Siege of Bexar and have not seen his name mentioned, so I don't think that Samuel S. Lewis is likely to meet the notability criteria. Stop!
While it is flattering to be thought of so highly as someone's "hero," you don't even know me at all, nor I you. I think what you've done to put my moniker under a "heros" banner is highly inappropriate. So, please remove my moniker from under "Wiki 'Heros'" on your "User" page, or I will. There will be no discussion of this concern. You have no choice. Thank-you in advance. P.S. I like your "Verse of the Day" idea. "....contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints" (Jude 1:3) NAS. Canihaveacookie 23:09 (CST), August 12, 2008 I'm not mad at you. I just needed to make sure you knew that I was serious about you or me removing my moniker from any commended list you have, especially if the list is posted on, Wikipedia! As far as keeping in touch, Wikipedia explains to all users that this site is not a social networking site. So,.... Canihaveacookie(Talk) 16:53 (CST), August 13, 2008 Maybe you can help me in editing - sometime. But, I'm a professional writer with a B.A., which doesn't say I know everything about how to write. However, I know a thing or two about how to write. Canihaveacookie(Talk) 17:08 (CST), August 13, 2008 Thanks. Canihaveacookie 17:22 (CST), August 13, 2008 Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:"The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer." (Proverbs 15:28) Dear Lordoliver, My brother in Christ, My many greetings and thanks to you for your such a deep regard for me tough I am but flesh and bones and my Spirit a captive of my Love and L-O-R-D. You are truly blessed brother, as you come in the most mighty name of our resurrected Lord Jesus, the Christ. You are precious to the Lord! Whatever you are doing, wherever you are and however you feel, you are precious to Him! How wonderful.!. I am standing with you in prayer and will hopefully be able to maintain fellowship with you via email. I am busy and won't always be able to answer or have time to fellowship but I will try my best to make time if you do call, or write to me on my yahoo address. I'll also look forward to editing with you on Wikipedia. For more information about my activities on Wiki, please look at my UserPage. However, O, precious brother, Psalm 144:3 and Psalm 8:4 came knocking at my heart and as if I were in Job's sandals, when I received your regards. "...what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!". Also, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? In truly speaking brother, I am not worthy of being someone's hero or ideal. There is no wrong in doing so or having a human hero or ideal, as you see it is all about Loving One Another, yet, Oh brother, it is so joyful, mysteriously quite, and eternally fulfilling when we see and receive the Joy of having nothing; being nothing, seeing nothing; but the living Christ alone in the Glory! In Christ Alone, Your little brother,HopeChrist (talk) 01:21, 14 August 2008 (UTC) Your recent editsHi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 23:15, 14 August 2008 (UTC) Alamo defendersHi Lordoliver, I think we may have had a miscommunication on the meaning of "redlink". A "redlink" means that wikilinks have been added to a term that does not have an article. I don't feel that most of these men are notable enough to have articles on their own, hence I didn't think there should be redlinks on their names (that is an invitation to create a new article about them). I see that you've just created articles for some of the lesser-known Alamo defenders. There really is not enough information for each of them to have an article - very little is known about most of them that is not already in the List of Alamo defenders. Would you be willing to discuss who should/should not have an article and redirect some of these that you have recently created to point to List of Alamo defenders? Perhaps there is additional information that we could include in the list that would satisfy your concerns?Karanacs (talk) 13:29, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

NumismaticsGreetings!! I'd like to welcome you to WikiProject Numismatics. Anything you see that can be improved upon, go for it, anything that is lacking add it, anything that is all together absent, please fill us in. There are quite a few knowledgeable people of both numismatics and wikipedia, in this little project, so don't hesitate to ask. Please be sure to read through the whole of the project pages, as we have just recently started using some of them. Again, welcome.

DYKHi, I saw your DYK nomination, which referes to the article Uniforms of the Confederate Military. I can confirm "date, length and reference" if you could add a footnote to the book where this is written, inlc. the page(s). I can see the fact being stated in the article, but could you, please, add a direct footnote after that paragraph. On a different note, as a non-specialist, it was quite currious to me to find that "The first of the Navy uniforms were made in Dark Blue, but with the Southern style of rank for the officers". Maybe you could somehow add this to your DYK proposal (keep it in reasonable length, though). Anyway, just a suggestion, feel free to ignore it. Also, it would be good for more people to read throught the entire article, since if the DYK is accepted, the article would be directly linked to the main page, so you want it to be flowless.Dc76\talk 03:57, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Lordoliver, I think what BillC whats from you is to further improve the article, to develop it. Look at the bright side: thousands of people will see your DYK and I bet there will be at least 1000 unique hits to the article within 2 days. Clearly, it is worth developing it more than what already can be found in a webpage abstract of the book. If I were in the US, I could get the book from the library and would help you myself, but unfortunately I can't get it here and now. I will try to help you reading the internet links from the article and maybe adding here and there a few words. So, don't get discouraged, if you stick to it, this will be done. Ideally, one would like something like British Army uniform, but we can go with less here. So, now you see the minimum (present state) and maximum (British Army). You, with a little help from others, can do smth in the middle. It will be great achievement, and DYK will come as a bonus. Dc76\talk 23:22, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
Hi - feel free to join usHey, I enjoyed your Uniforms of the Confederacy article. Being another unreconstructed southerner and conservative, I'd like to invite you to the ACW task force, at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/American Civil War task force. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media). If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
