Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:41, 5 March 2018 (UTC) Hi User:Life of Tau, would you be able to add a sentence to this section please, explaining how Calvin Harris changed to funk music in 2017 after not liking his song "My Way" and electronic dance music anymore, but makes EDM again in 2018 because of Virtual Self's EP and song "Ghost Voices." All sourced from here, those are the main points but I wanted to make it a bit more detailed, the reason I'm asking is because I can't phrase it together right myself. Hope you can help, cheers. --Theo (contribs) 21:58, 13 March 2018 (UTC)
"Lost in Japan" genresHi Life of Tau, at the bottom of this article in the POP FIVE section, the writer calls the song funk, but I'm not sure if he's also calling it pop when he says "It’s an exercise in simple, tasteful, mature adult contemporary pop Justin Timberlake wishes Man Of The Woods had more of."? --Theo (contribs) 11:43, 3 April 2018 (UTC)
Hi Life of Tau, I want to add this source as a ref for pop-rap, but I'm not sure if it's explicit calling the song pop (genre) and hip hop also. --Theo (contribs) 18:09, 6 April 2018 (UTC)

Lo-fi rapHi Life of Tau, in this Vanity Fair article, the writer calls "Black Beatles" and "Trap Queen" lo-fi rap, and calls Lil Uzi Vert a lo-fi rapper. Do you know what genre(s) lo-fi rap should link to on Wikipedia? --Theo (contribs) 22:16, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

Regarding the List of most-viewed Asian music videos on YouTubeWell, I created this article with the mindset that every eager mind who wants to clarify the position of various countries of Asia on the platform of YouTube can have an access to the article created by me. It is true that there is not any official release of any article on the web stating this kind of list but it can be noted that there are several articles depicting the tops of individual countries like that of Korea (K-pop), Japan (J-pop), Vietnam (V-pop), Middle East (Arabic songs), India (Bollywood songs and others) and infact almost every region of Asia possess this kind of list. So, what do you say, are they all narrow minded? It is totally obivious that now the world is globalised. So, the music production by any country may seem the participation of other but that doesn't play with the very identity of the song (resembling the culture). Regarding the negligence of middle east, I tried my best to include each and every part of Asia in it, but I could not make it happen because not every part of Asia could make it to the list (means lowering the bar below 350 million would make the article a mess because there are a lot of many videos above 300 million views). For example, V-pop's best has around 336 million views, J-pop's best have 185 million, Arabic best is more than 600 million views, but it was from a Moroccan singer (and exclusively produced by a Moroccan company). So I could not include them in the list. Well, I am not saying that they will never make it to the list or I have the full editing rights on the article. Anyone can edit it and include others in the future and exactly that's how Wikipedia works. Regarding the breach of the very rights of Wikipedia, I have not made this article for using any propaganda or with wrong mindset or intention. If anybody feels so, then he has the full rights regarding molding the article in the way it suits an encyclopediac content and making it fruitful for others. Thank you for your kind intention. Hi Life of Tau, I've found an article from Stereogum that explicitly calls the remix Eurodance ([1]), but I wondered if the Idolator article sourced already is calling it house when it says of the music video, "the euphoric house production contrasts with the melancholy aesthetic in that way that feels quintessentially Lana and, well, if nothing else, the track is straight fire." If they're saying the "production" of the whole song is house, does that make it a house song? Cheers. --Theo Mandela (talk) 19:59, 23 May 2018 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for May 30An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Midwest hip hop, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Wichita (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). (Opt-out instructions.) --DPL bot (talk) 09:22, 30 May 2018 (UTC) "One Dance", "Heatstroke" and "Slide"Hi Life of Tau, I want to fix the genres on "One Dance", the infobox had dancehall and Afrobeat as genres (with refs, but I can't access the NY Times one for Afrobeat, and I'm not sure the two for dancehall are being explicit). Whereas, the "Composition and recording" section calls it "a R&B song heavily infused with Nigerian afrobeat and Jamaican dancehall". I recently added a ref to the infobox ([2]) I thought was calling the song UK funky, I've since wondered if that was explicit, then an IP editor changed it to R&B. What would you say should be kept and removed please? Also: When news.com.au says "Like Frank Ocean’s Slide, the grower of the year, Heatstroke – with Pharrell, Young Thug and Ariana Grande – should have been the song of the summer, a sun-kissed disco funk delight", it doesn't hyphenate disco and funk and misses an "and" in-between them, how should the genres be styled in the infobox, and is it also calling "Slide" disco funk? Thanks. --Theo Mandela (talk) 16:55, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
Despacito is now a Good Article
List of most-subscribed YouTube channelsI saw the recent change regarding the network section of the list. While I'm all for it, there are some things that need to be improved on: 1. The sources are outdated. 2. The channel-network association are outdated as well Tying these two together, just because SocialBlade once had the network name on every YouTube account page, doesn't mean that the page referenced is up to date. (Examples: Marshmello switched from Monstercat to Spinnin' Records, Maker Studios has since rebranded as Disney Digital Network, etc.) Not only are the sources outdated, it makes the whole list outdated as well. 3. Unnecessary footnotes This is just a personal nitpick, but I don't think a footnote is needed for every non-network channel just to tell people when they no longer where affiliated by network. Also, the sources on the network sections could be better suited positioned next to the channel name. This could be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer while also provide a better editing experience for you, me, and all the other editors who edit this list. Other than that, the change is fine. I hope you take my points into consideration. I would do most of this myself, but I'm heading back to school soon, so I won't be editing as at all. Plus, I wanted to talk to you about it anyways because you are much more experienced than me and you were the one who made the change anyways. Thank you for understanding. Have a great day. "Sicko Mode" and StarboyHi Life of Tau, just unsure about which genre(s) exactly Billboard is calling "Sicko Mode" when they say it broke "the mold of what a rap-turned-pop record should sound like" (out of pop-rap, hip hop or/and pop).
The edit's already been made to "Sicko Mode", will add alt-R&B/new wave to Starboy. Appreciate the breakdown given, thanks. Theo Mandela (talk) 00:28, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Music genre coloursText-to-background colour combinations on Wikipedia are required to have a contrast ratio of 7 at the very least. #BB0022 doesn't quite work[3] and crimson (#DC143C) is really far off. [4] Other colours such as olive (#808000)[5] and #A0522D[6] are also far off. My edits helped empty Category:Articles using Template:Infobox music genre with invalid colour combination, by reverting them you effectively re-added 271 pages. Does the "as with" mean 'similar to a lot of crossover UK dance-pop' or 'as with a lot of other UK dance-pop'? It's one of those were if it was spoken I could immediately tell by the inflection how it was meant but because it's written I can't be sure. Hip HopWHY DO YOU KEEP DELETING THE ADDITION TO LATINO AMERICANS IN HIP HOP HISTORY?! I keep adding and you keep deleting it?! Hip hop was not only created by African Americans! It was created in the Bronx by both African American and Latino American youth! What’s your issue? Heribertovelazqueziii (talk) 06:15, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
It is recorded in history and is a fact. Most of the BBoys were Latino and some of the pioneer DJs were Latino as well. Heribertovelazqueziii (talk) 06:17, 13 May 2019 (UTC) And rapping was not created because of African spoken words 😂 that’s ridiculous! Old Town RoadHi. Please understand: • G# minor and B major have the same key signature; as I stated earlier, see the pages on key signatures and relative major/minor keys if you do not grasp this • The cited page for the key is a piece of sheet music that in no place says B major • I have a Ph.D. in music theory; trust me; the tonic of the song is unambiguously and solely G#. Whoever wrote B major was misreading the sheet music. Even keeping the sheet music as a reliable source supports a reading/hearing of G#. • correct information matters more than dogmatic process Thanks. Here's why: The burden of proof is on you. The article as it is now, severely lacking in sources notwithstanding, overwhelmingly points towards being 1. British, 2. Italian, 3. Japanese music/phenomenon/whatever. I would, but I won't because after all I am assuming good faith, say that this was a one-sided attempt at generalizing a topic that in fact has a ton of evidence that it is specifically a Japanese, rather than a general East Asian phenomenon; you failed to establish that connection. Eurobeat is also popular in Mexico so you left that one out as well. Folk-rap/Rap-folkHi. The term "Folk rap" or "Rap folk" does not have a wikilink to redirect. However, in Alternative hip hop, says "Alternative rap refers to hip hop groups that refuse to conform to any of the traditional stereotypes of rap, such as gangsta, bass, hardcore, pop, and party rap. Instead, they blur genres drawing equally from funk and pop/rock, as well as jazz, soul, reggae, and even folk." 2402:1980:2A3:CE83:C913:64C8:FE25:700C (talk) 16:05, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
