I saw that Blaze the Wolf had a fun custom signature on a [House] question he answered for me, and I asked him how to do that. He said "My signature was made by Levi_OP so if you want a cool signature like mine, I'm sure they'd be willing to help you out." I got as far as managing this:
But my own attempts at changing the colours were not successful. I thought I could Google colour hex codes and punch them in, but that did not seem to produce the desired results. Would you be so kind as to tell me how to make the black background red (in the style of #ff0000) and the text white (a la #ffffff)? My apologies if I am imposing, I am new. - Personofcanada (talk) 21:18, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Signatures are a combination of wikimarkup and html (including css for colors and stuff) which I am very well versed in. You can make your signature look however you want but the way that I have mine and the people's that I've made for in the past happen to look the same with the black background and color. I can make one in the same style for you or I could make a totally different design if you'd like. β Levi_OPTalk22:19, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! I like the signature style you've made for yourself and a few others. Do you think you could make one for me? With #00a8f3 as the text color, and a Talk and Guestbook link like the signature you made for Blaze. Thanks! Vukky (talk page β’oβ’ guestbook) 15:44, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Vukky: Hey! I just got back home, sorry for responding a little late. I'll send you a friend request on discord and we can talk there to make things easierΒ :) β Levi_OPTalk20:41, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Levi OP! The thread you created at the Wikipedia:Teahouse, Official dark mode css, has been archived because there was no discussion for a few days (usually at least two days, and sometimes four or more). You can still find the archived discussion here. If you have any additional questions that weren't answered then, please feel free to create a new thread.
@Ritchie333: Hey! Thanks for unblocking his account, I'll try not to do anything that could make it seem like it was a sock or anything like that in the future. And to preface, just in case you or someone else does check (which I'm assuming is by IP), a few edits may be on the same address. We know each other in real life and may have been on the same network at some pointΒ :) Thanks β Levi_OPTalk20:30, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. The problem is, from an administrator's point of view, it's generally impossible to tell if two accounts are the same person messing around, or two separate people. The other problem is we have had a lot of very disruptive users who have operated hundreds of sockpuppets, attempting at all costs to fly under the radar and not be noticed, and it's impossible to tell if two accounts are both them as well. The best way to avoid this is simply to do lots of good work writing articles. Ritchie333(talk)(cont)20:35, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ritchie333: Yeah, I understand how this could be an issue. I plan on continuing to make plenty of edits, although my friend probably won't as much, but hopefully nothing like this will happen againΒ :) If there are any issues in the future I'd love to clear anything up. Thanks, β Levi_OPTalk23:48, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I havent used wikipedia as much, can you please explain what im doing wrong? im updating the information for it to reflect as clearly and truthfully as possible. Shahzad Nawaz was not affiliated with any political party as he has just assumed a technocratic position in the government. here is a reference:
@GodBlessTheThings: Since the page that you edited appeared to be in a list-like format, I've undone my reversion and restored your version. In most cases with most articles, you need to have a reputable source that you get your information directly from. Thanks, β Levi_OPTalk15:53, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I would like a custom signature that looks just like yours but instead it says kaleeb18. I couldn't really decide if I wanted the blue or the orange one you have, but I think I want the orange color with the black background. I also donβt have a discord to communicate with you. Kaleeb18 (talk) 19:16, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Kaleeb18: Hey! I can totally do that. Keep in mind it can be customized however you want. You could have the link to your talk page styled differently or you could have the color be whatever you want. The background can also be any color, shape, etc. You get the idea. If you really do just want exactly what I have I can do that too. Thanks! β Levi_OPTalk20:22, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I just want what you have, it looks cool plus itβs the colors of my home states college football team and orange is my favorite color . Kaleeb18 (talk) 20:33, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I also noticed you changed the talk part of your signature I want the talk that Blaze has.
@Kaleeb18: Sorry for the late response, I was busy in real life. As I understand it you want the talk to not have the white background or anything and just text witch is above and smaller. Also, since you wanted the colors to be like your school, I've provided a few options using colors from their brand guidelines page. Here are the options:
A version with everything the same besides the name:
A version with the updated color and secondary color also from their website (this one probably doesn't look too good, I could adjust the colors if you really wanted):
You can put the code for the one that you want in your signature input in your wikipedia settings. Make sure you have the box underneath that says "Treat above and wiki markup" checked so that it displays correctly. Once again, if you want anything changed, I would be happy to help. Thanks, β Levi_OPTalk00:17, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh one thing I just thought of can you put my real name, Caleb, under the Talk because I see blaze has something that says Blaze Wolf#6545 under his talk. β Kaleeb18Talk02:27, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Kaleeb18: Sure. Were you thinking something like this?
Not really, but you can make me a gradient colour scheme, but my name should be prominent. And you can please do it as you like. I see from your user page and the signs that you made, that you are a good programmer. Itcouldbepossible(Talk)(Contributions)(Log)02:31, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible: Sure. Are there any colors that you like? Maybe a favorite season or color palette? Anything to work with as a starting point? Something totally random is hard for me and might not be what you would like. β Levi_OPTalk13:57, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I actually made a google search regarding this. You could use any of these colour gradients. If it gets a bit difficult, then you can see this. Till this point tell me if it clear to you or not. Thanks for showing so much interest in creating a signature for me. Itcouldbepossible(Talk)(Contributions)(Log)14:30, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible: Yeah, I thought the same thing. The colors weren't the best choice to go on top of each other. I tried doing different colors and I think it looks better
If you don't like it, we can still experiment with different options. And to get around the character limit, you can make a subpage on your userpage and then subsitute it in your signature. This is how.
@Levi OP I'm concerned that you are suggesting that people substitute their signatures. There is a reason that the box has a limit on the number of characters - One rule per WP:CUSTOMSIG/P is that the following are disallowed - "Complicated signatures contain a lot of code ("markup") that is revealed in the edit window, and can take up unnecessary amounts of narrative space, which can make both reading and editing harder" As a rule of thumb, if it doesn't fit in the box, it's too long. Part of the skill in creating a good signature is keeping it within those guidelines WormTT(talk) 09:11, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Worm That Turned: Hey, thanks for letting me know. I'd seen people in the past who did the same thing to get around the limit without anyone saying anything, so didn't check to see or think about why it would exist. I'll make sure not to do this with anyone ever again. Thanks, β Levi_OPTalk13:47, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And for @Itcouldbepossible: Doing that substitute thing to get around the character limit is apparently not allowed. That's my bad. We'll have to make the signature less complicated so it will take up less code space. Worm already did that in a post on your talk page; you might like that one. If not, I can try to make it similar and remove some things. Sorry for any confusion, β Levi_OPTalk13:47, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible: I think that the issue was with the colors and size of the code rather than with the log and contribs. having the gradient on the text and background adds and lot of characters to the text. We could make it look similar with just white text or something to make it less distracting so that it follows WP:CUSTOMSIG/P β Levi_OPTalk14:23, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
New Play Control! Edits
Hello,
Sorry, I didn't realise I didn't leave enough information! I reverted the edits (all made by the same user in quick succession), as they were all made without sources both to the games' existence as wii ports as well as their release dates. I guess I should've left a bit more detail, I'll do my best to pay more attention to Wikipedia rules and guidelines in future.
@IguessIamhere: Ah, okay. That's totally fine. Feel free to undo my revert of your edits to remove them again. Remember to always leave an edit summary of why you are doing somethingΒ :) β Levi_OPTalk03:12, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.
Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! Thank you for all your contributions to Wikipedia and thank you especially for making my signature. β Kaleeb18TalkCaleb04:03, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
My User Page
Hi Levi. Sorry for bothering you again, but I thought that you best for my problem. The problem is itself is very simple, but it maybe tough to solve. Can you please bring all my userboxes to the right side of my user page. Though it is already on the right side, it has gone below. And Happy New Year in advance. Thanks. β ItcouldbepossibleTalk15:27, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey! It's fine that you've bothered me; I'm happy to help. I've moved it to the top of the page by putting above the text in the "Intro" section. If you want to add any more userboxes you have to put them in between the {{Userboxtop}} and {{Userboxbottom}} templates. I've also added a margin to the tip of the day and service award progress, so that they do not go below as well. If you have any other issues, let me know. Thanks, βΒ Levi_OPTalk20:00, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Levi. You helped me more than I asked for. Ok, so the placement of the code also matters. And yes, I really was having problems with that user box. Ok, so a margin did the trick. The service award progress won't come up, freaking my life out, changing code for hours, and seeing the preview. And you did it so easily, just like a flick. Is there a trick, or is it experience? Or is there a documentation for all these job? I really want to know. And, thanks...surely I would approach you for anymore problems that I might come across, which I am sure that I will have. Cheers. ItcouldbepossibleTalk05:21, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Itcouldbepossible: Haha, yeah. Programming can be hard. Most of the stuff that I know how to do just come from experience, as I've been programming for 5+ years. For basic issues though, you can usually look it up on google. And yes, I will help you with any issues you have in the future. Thanks, βΒ Levi_OPTalk01:51, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
For your really nice looking Discord style sidebar on Tunakansi's user page. I really like the look of it and am tempted to ask you to make one for me as well. β BlazeΒ WolfTalkBlazeΒ Wolf#654500:14, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You should just be able to place {{Vandalism information}} and {{Pending Changes backlog-defcon}} wherever you want on your userpage and it should work just fine. βΒ TunaNoSurprisesPlease04:53, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can put them next to your userboxes but it doesn't look too good since it covers other parts of the page. Levi knows a lot more about how to do this than I do, and he'll see these in the morning when he wakes up. I'll remind him, too. If you'd like, there are also horizontal versions of both templates that would probably look much better on a userpage, and I can add those. βΒ TunaNoSurprisesPlease05:15, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Levi, but I wanted something like this. I cannot find the code that placed the those two templates on the side of the userboxes. Can you find the code, and do the same thing for me? ItcouldbepossibleTalk04:06, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm currently working on Sam W. Heads' page, with his collaboration. There's a lot of edit to do, including new chapters for personal life, publications, and the links for reference. I'm publishing changes one by one because there's a lot of work to do, especially regarding the links for various publications. Also, Professor Heads doesn't really want to have too much personal information displayed.
I would just ask for a bit of time while I trim up the page.
Thanks for contributing to the article Radioisotope thermoelectric generator. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. Please help by adding more sources to the article you edited, and/or by clarifying how the sources already given support the claims (see here for how to do inline referencing). If you need further help, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia, or ask at the Teahouse, or just ask me. Thank you.
When you reverted the largely unreferenced section on efficiency, you restored much unreferenced material. Per WP:BURDEN, as the restoring editor, you automatically take on the responsibility for providing all the referencing for the material that you restored that is unreferenced. Unless you do that, you should not restore it.
Hey Levi! I was wondering if you could create a sidebar for my userpage in the style of Discord similar to what you did for Tunakanski's userpage. I had attempted to ask you on Discord however you haven't responded as of yet. β BlazeΒ WolfTalkBlazeΒ Wolf#654501:22, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also I understand I can't use my Discord pfp unless the artist releases it into the public domain (or possibly a compatible license so they aren't completely giving up their copyright to the image). β BlazeΒ WolfTalkBlazeΒ Wolf#654501:23, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Blaze: He's fine with you using it I believe. We tried to get my Discord pfp on it and it worked for a while, but unfortunately it was taken down because, although I had proof that the artist had given permission, I needed an email or a tweet directly from them that said it was ok. So I haven't really gone out to get the permission required. Anyway, you can find the template for it here and the other information is just on my userpage. βΒ TunaNoSurprisesPlease05:20, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Blaze Wolf: Sorry, I was going to fix the template to work with anyone's account and then respond to you but I forgot you'd sent a message. I'm going to move the template to my user space and then make a little documentation so that anyone can use it. I'll ping you when it's ready. Thanks, βΒ Levi_OPTalk13:29, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Blaze Wolf: I've gotten it in a state that's ready. See {{User:Levi_OP/Discord Profile}}. There is usage information as well as examples so that you can use it yourself. If you have any issues with the template, or ways you would like to use it differently, let me know. Thanks, βΒ Levi_OPTalk00:54, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Blaze Wolf: The way that you included all of the userboxes had two extra "}}" at the end. this ended the template before the float param was even considered. I've fixed it for you as your can probably see. βΒ Levi_OPTalk03:24, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Blaze Wolf: I'm currently working on a better system, but for now, if you add <div style="float:left;color:#b9bbbe;width:236px;text-align:center;font-weight:700;margin:10px 0;">Section text</div> to a new line on your page, I think it looks pretty good as a little section divider. Here is an example with some code:
{{User:Levi_OP/Discord Profile
| background = rgb(164, 160, 153)
| name = Levi_OP
| discrim = #2477
| bio = My about me section.
| float = right
| height = 210
| ubx =
{{User Wikipedian for|year=2017|month=06|day=29|sc=y}}
{{User wikipedia/Abuse log}}
<divstyle="float:left;color:#b9bbbe;width:236px;text-align:center;font-weight:700;margin:10px 0;">Next section!</div><!-- Insert it like this in the list of userboxes and it should look like this -->
{{User:UBX/RedWarn yeehaw}}
{{User:Levi OP/UBX/Knows User(s) IRL|Taltos|Tunakanski}}
{{User COVID-19 vaccine}}
{{User:Asmodea Oaktree/Userboxes/Wikitext}}
{{User Github}}
{{User Stack Overflow}}
{{User:Levi_OP/UBX/Discord|Levi_OP#1277}}
}}
@Blaze Wolf: I've finished the new system that is easier to use. Instead of having to copy all of that div and style code, you can just use
Section
for custom section titles. The way you insert the code will be the exact same as the above example but just with "
Next section!
" Instead of "<div style=".....">Next Section!</div>" βΒ Levi_OPTalk17:27, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@ThePremiumBoy: Hey! I'd love to help you make a signature. I'd first like to point out, thought, that if you're going to completely copy something someone does on wikipedia, like you did at your userpage, you should probably ask the person first. I personally don't care, but would appreciate being asked permission or given credit before something like this. Anyway, did you have something in mind for a signature? A lot of people have wanted something in the same style as my own, and I suggest you take a look at some examples if you don't have something in mind. βΒ Levi_OPTalk14:34, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry for copying your userpage. I only copied its first paragraph, Not completely. Because I wanted its first design on my talk page. Sorry.
Now talking about signature, I want a colorful signature with a shadow. Shadow is not important, but it will make it look more awesome. Any the 'talk' word should be hidden in my signature, just like some other users. Thanks. ThePremiumBoy (talk) 14:44, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@ThePremiumBoy: Sure, are there colors that you want? Also, when you say "hidden" talk page, do you mean making the text part of your name? And when you say shadow, I assume you mean something like this: ThePremiumBoy (the color are just an example, let me know what colors you really want). Thanks, βΒ Levi_OPTalk15:03, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think the shadow is making the words less readable and dark. Shadow is not important. Please add dark blue and red colors. If possible, please add 3D effect to words. Thanks! ThePremiumBoy (talk) 15:42, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@ThePremiumBoy: Great! You'll have to go to your Special:Preferences, and put the following code in the signature section. Make sure you have the box checked that says "Treat following as wiki markup".
@Levi_OP Thank you so much for making this signature. I will use it in my account. And I will also read the help page of intending messages you sent me. Thank you. ThePremiumBoy (talk) 16:09, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If not, you could look around at some userpages and see what you think looks good and what you want on the page, then get back to me. @FormalDude: Some of these things could be addressed with the |style= parameter, which allows for any extra css styling that you want. I could add parameters to address these all individually, but I think it could be overwhelming as the original point of the template is to mimic how Discord's profiles look. For example, here is the template changing the background color, and adding a border:
This of course doesn't address the color, which doesn't work the way that the template is made. I think I'll add a parameter for that. I could also add parameter for the font family in case someone wanted serif or other font text. βΒ Levi_OPTalk16:02, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@FormalDude I've incorporated the ability to style every part of the template differently. Here's how you could change the color and font of everything in the template, as well as changing just one part (the bio in this example):
@QuickQuokka: I've implemented this! It works the same the userbox section but isn't scrollable by default. Here's what your page might look like using the next babel section instead:
@QuickQuokka For caps, the template is made in a way where the text is capitalized using css. You can undo this by setting |header-style= to text-transform: none;. For making the background an image, I don't know why I didn't think of that. It's a thing you can do on discord so I don't know why I haven't implemented that. I'll let you know when I do that. βΒ Levi_OPTalk22:26, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Levi OP: Sorry if this is excessive, but can you add an option to show the time where the user lives. I want it to show that it's 01:59 [refresh] where I am, so that an American editor will know when it is appropriate to contact me. QuickQuokka[β talk β’ contribs]12:49, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Levi! I'm attempting to add an optional parameter to {{User prog-0}} that would add "but would like to learn how.". I'm thinking what you would add to it to trigger that text to appear would be |learn= yes with either the default being no or it being completely optional and if the user doesn't want to learn how (by setting the parameter to learn= no) then it would add "and does not want to learn how." How exactly would I go about doing this? β BlazeΒ WolfTalkBlazeΒ Wolf#654517:54, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you mean having another language for the text in the template, no, that is not possible. I could probably add that if you wanted it though. βΒ Levi_OPTalk23:03, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
