Pronunciation of Bruschetta

The article already states that the word is pronounced [bruˈsketta] (Italia IPA) = /bruːˈskɛtə/ (English IPA). Nowhere is it stated that /bruːˈʃɛtə/ is ever used in Italy. There is no need whatsoever to state that the latter is pronounced incorrectly at all because it apparently isn't. It has become an alternative pronunciation, and not an incorrect one, in Anglophone countries. - Takeaway (talk) 02:20, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It was I who corrected the article, which previously made the utterly preposterous claim that the "sh" pronunciation was used in certain parts of Italy! I do not dispute that the Anglicized pronunciation -- while Italians might not like or agree with it -- does appear in English-language dictionaries and, thus, must be considered "correct English." But let us be clear that we are talking about a word that was mispronounced for so long that the mispronunciation caught on. It is wholly appropriate to state, in a manner that is very clear and accurate, that this is an Italian word with a correct Italian pronunciation.
