You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Talk:Ken Goldstein, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Phearson (talk) 03:27, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

MfD nomination of Talk:Michael Neff (artist)

Talk:Michael Neff (artist), a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Talk:Michael Neff (artist) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Talk:Michael Neff (artist) during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. ttonyb (talk) 04:29, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

SORRY, I PUT THE FOLLOWING NOTICE ON THE WRONG USER'S TALK PAGE. But there's no reason to delete the notice.

The article Joey Gaskin has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Musician not notable, no reliable sources

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. == GaryGo (talk) 02:19, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Lex Veldhuis. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:10, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, sorry for that. I'm not used to write on the English Wikipedia. I just added a reference, are there more needed? Thanks for the warning! Maarten Inc. (talk) 15:00, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

False positives?

Please take a look at User talk:Terlob who has been hit with four unreferenced BLP warnings within a minute. All four of the articles are referenced and were so from the moment of creation. Terlob is relatively experienced user and will (hopefully) not be deterred by these incorrect warnings, but if the bot is leaving incorrect notices on newcomers' talkpages as well, that would be pretty bite-y. Hope you can look into this. Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 00:26, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. This should be fixed now. Using the == Sources == header is pretty rare, so it wasn't in the list of headers to check for. Interestingly, it is checked for in the other three or four scripts that LaraBot oversees, it was just this one that was missing the check. Thanks for the feedback. I'll go clean up the mess now. --MZMcBride (talk) 01:13, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Minor problem with larabot.

If {{Talk header}} is present on a talk page, LaraBot will put the {{WikiProject Biography}} banner above {{Talk header}}. According to WP:TPL, {{Talk header}} should be above all banners.... funny looking seeing Bio banner, Talk header and then some other banners below the Talk header. Idiot's corner

Can I ask why Larabot (et al), finds various new pages to add (Bot: New page.) to ? Specifically it locates most of my 'creations', but misses others ? Firstly, you will probably give me a technical rationale which I likely will not understand. Secondly, you may well state that 'my creations' are not worthy of any special attention - to which I have no argument. Thirdly, you may state I am asking this question at the wrong page, to which I will respond "Yes, silly old me". Lastly, it is not of any great consequence, merely curiosity on my part. Please do not spend too much time on this one, for there are far more worthy causes in the world. But, if you have the time... here is a list of those articles that seemingly have missed the 'net' - Andrew Tibbs, Archie Edwards, Bern Elliott and the Fenmen, Charlie Spand, Clarence Edwards (blues musician), Judas Jump, Karen Carroll (musician), Little Buddy Doyle, Moses "Whispering" Smith, Players Association, Robert Ealey, Star Turn on 45 (Pints), The Dale Sisters and Valerie Wellington. Many thanks,

The bot tracks pages in Category:Living people. It creates a talk page (with the {{WPBiography}} template) for pages that are in that category. The articles you listed here aren't in the "Living people" category; most are dead, I guess. Hope that helps, --MZMcBride (talk) 03:05, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page to a non-article

I just saw the same problem at Talk:Gary Terzian. LaraBot created the talk page after I had previously deleted the article and the talk page. Perhaps this calls for a tweak to the code? — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 01:35, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page tagging and {{blp}}

When the bot tags talk pages with WikiProject Biography banners, could it also detect {{blp}} and remove it as fully redundant to the WikiProject banner? Here, the bot tagged the talk page, but left {{blp}}, resulting in duplicate BLP notices which I then had to correct by hand. Thanks. jcgoble3 (talk) 00:58, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Blake Mizrahi's page

Hello,

I have created the wiki page for Blake Mizrahi at the request of his parent (I am his cousin).

I believe that his acting experience qualifies as "noteworthy" so I think the page should be considered to be a legitimate addition to Wikipedia.

With regard to the message you posted to the talk page. I am happy to remove/source/alter any content that you feel is not appropriate or backed up sufficiently by sources. Please let me know what content you find objectionable and I will update the page accordingly.

The bot tagged both of these articles as living people even though they both died in the 16th century. I assume this is because there is no date info given in the titles of the articles and the bot has difficulty in distinguishing who is living. I also had to delete living people category and year of birth missing (living people) category from the articles themselves; not sure if the bot also looks at the article. Please respond on my talk page if possible.--FeanorStar7 09:08, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

I added the external reference to the Italian Federation of Canoe and Kayak to the biografy of the athlete.

Feature request: Copy DEFAULTSORT to listas

This is a useful bot. Thank you for creating it. I have a suggestion. Since WikiProject Biography allows for a listas parameter to allow pages to be sorted by surrname ignoring diacritical marks, could the bot look for DEFAULTSORT in the article and if it is present, add it to WikiProject Biography after |listas= ? Eastmain (talkcontribs) 04:49, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Eastmain: You will find many parameters, you will find "Royalty", "History", and more. What we require is, a talk page. Once there is a talk page, the page sends itself to the category of the wikiproject that has been listed. Rest is handled by the editors who are interested in making the page better. "listas" is certainly a hard parameter, at least for a bot it is. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 11:34, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The bot hasn't made any edits for two days or so, could you check its status? Thanks! Tassedethe (talk) 01:40, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Magioladitis. Maybe. If you're interested, I'd be pretty inclined to revive the parts that you found useful. What do you want to see online again? The talk page tagging? A particular report? I should have all of the code on Labs somewhere. --MZMcBride (talk) 22:28, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
MZMcBride I am mainly interested in the talk page tagging... I wish I have said that earlier. There is a huge backlog. -- Magioladitis (talk) 22:33, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Is providing a list of the pages that need tagging sufficient? It's a simple enough query to generate pages that are in Category:Living people, but whose talk pages are not tagged with {{WikiProject Biography}}. (Ehhh, not so simple if the database is wrong. I found a few real examples such as Paul Rübig, but the false positives are drowning out the signal.) --MZMcBride (talk) 05:39, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

SELECT
  page_title
FROM page
JOIN categorylinks
ON cl_from = page_id
WHERE cl_to = 'Living_people'
AND page_namespace = 0
AND page_title NOT IN (SELECT
                         page_title
                       FROM page
                       JOIN templatelinks
                       ON tl_from = page_id
                       WHERE tl_namespace = 10
                       AND tl_title = 'WikiProject_Biography'
                       AND page_namespace = 1);
SELECT

FROM page AS p1
JOIN categorylinks
ON cl_from = p1.page_id
LEFT JOIN page AS p2
ON p1.page_title = p2.page_title
AND p2.page_namespace = 1
