We may well have clashed in the past and may well clash in the future. Nonetheless, I wish to thank you for voting according to article merit, keeping in mind the full range of options, and even improving the target when it's possible. There are other things, such as keeping Wikipedia:There is no deadline in mind, but those fall under opinions and editing philosophies instead of common decency; that the latter is uncommon enough to be praiseworthy speaks volumes about the state of fiction on Wikipedia, but only makes it more valuable. --Kizor _{is in a constant state of flux} 04:36, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for the note. In fact, I do fondly remember our first bit of interaction on Wikipedia, on a certain AfD. Something I do disagree with is your pessimism on the state of fiction on Wikipedia. Ah yes. Good times, despite the outcome. Unfortunately my tendency to procrastinate, apparent there, has since become downright pathological due to RL events and will still require extensive mending... but on the side of conciliatory achievements, last October I stopped a flame war about handling Albus Dumbledore's sexuality by calling it silly and declaring a state of picnic. Anyway. What has me worried is that online text communication favors exactly the people who can shout the loudest and the longest. Reason need not enter into it. Ultimately, the site can survive only as a collaborative online community (*shudder*) and I think we have a lot of growing up to do to recognize this fact and create an environment where it can work, especially since the traditional spirit of cooperation that sustained us seems to be fading as the focus of editing inevitably shifts from creating good content towards maintaining good content. But your assurance does give a fraction of comfort.

SH4 VGA

A few questions about you VG assesment for Silent Hill 4: The Room:

1. Do you know of any sources I can check for development info so that the "Development" section can earn its name?
2. Same with sales data: All I have are some statistics on the Japanese charts. I have no doubt that will come up in any future FAC.
3. For "Characters" and "Story", what parts exactly do you want changed? Or should I just trust my instincts on what looks like it belongs in the "story" section?

New assessment examples.

We really need some non-product examples in the quality assessment table. While I'd agree your choices are better than mine, it makes the table utterly redundant to anyone looking for examples of characters or other aspects of a video game beyond the box with the disc. I ran into some trouble too when I tried creating my sandbox version. To be honest, if something similar to my version gets used, I hope someone else does it; as my version is thrown together rather poorly to make it look a certain way. Le Grand Roi des Citrouilles AFD contributions

I went to his talk page to see if anyone had mentioned his AFD comments. I'm glad to see you had talked with him. However he is at it again [1] I was wondering if you might want to stop by his page and mention something again. I would do it but since he votes keep in almost everything I send to AFD it might be better if someone else dose it. It just get really annoying see him basically say "I like it" in dozens of AFD's. I have to work in a few hours I think I'll write up something and leave it on his page in the next few days. Maybe just point out that he should at least try to reply to concerns raised by the nominator. It just really annoys me when I point out that all the sources are primary sources and he just comes in and says it's well sourced. If you disagree with me at least give a reason. A popular RFA question is always "would you delete this one line stub" - here's a real life example. I'm not going to make a tremendous effort (i.e. sleep deprivation, it's late over here) to source this article, because I do not in fact have any WP:COI connection to it. The answer in this case is yes - it fulfils the criteria of WP:CSD#A7 to the letter, i.e. An article about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant. The article Infinite Dimensions has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. Hello. I've recently requested a peer review for Legacy of Kain: Defiance, and noticed on the peer review volunteers list that you review video game article. VG Assesments

Thanks very much for your comments, you're completely correct in that I found the VG/A page from the Videogame project page, then read through the DrumMania page and added my thoughts on the discussion page. I guess the system does work in this case!

I'd ask if there's any template that's commonly used for assesments, or if it's mainly an encouraging critical analysis that's used? I don't want to put people off continuing to edit articles that they've obviously spent a lot of time and effort on, but by the same token I'd like to try and steer their efforts in the right direction instead of charging in blindly and editing myself. In terms of housekeeping, I'll update the Assesments page once I'm done working through an article.

I'm definately keen on seeking adoption. I'm trying to be helpful and constructive but I'm also mindful of treading on other people's toes, talking out of turn or generating offense through honesty. I'd also be keen to understand what standards are used, so that I can make sure I adhere to them. If you're happy to take me on and show me a guiding hand, that'd be great!

Being Bold in 24 hours...

Thanks for the general advice about how I apporach articles. I guess I'm cautios due to my job (junior management). As such, I tend to take safe bets. It's why I edited the Criticism of Warcraft article directly - it's a subject that I'm familiar with and I was confident I could find high quality sources for. I edited the 24: The Game article in a sandbox as it's been heavily reworked - section orders changed, much of the text either condensed, rewritten or edited. It also took a number of days to complete, so I thought it would be better to present the finished article instead of having a potentially live broken or half-finished article.

Peer review idea

Hi, I have made a proposal that no peer review request be archived without some response. To aid in this, there is a new list of PR requests at least one week old that have had no repsonses beyond a semi-automated peer review. This list is at Wikipedia:Peer review/backlog.

There are just over 100 names on the PR volunteers page, so I figure if each of these volunteers reviewed just one or two PR requests without a response from the list each month, it would easily take care of the "no response" backlog (as there have been 2 or 3 such unanswered requests a day on average).

Mentory shaped questions

So I'm looking at putting some new articles together, but I was wondering if you'd recommended any tools to help speed up the process a bit. I was thinking of things like browser plugins for Firefox or maybe a separate program that you use. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Second up, there's GameRanger. The article has been put up for deletion. It's been consistently vandalised by Fudgeman29, Demons2oo5, Wing44 and Tenobkers amongst others. What's the procedure on dealing with this?

Third up, I noticed there's a backlog of articles waiting for review as good articles. Is there a way I can help with clearing this backlog?

For the first thing, there's some handy user scripts around at WP:US. I use Twinkle myself. There's some Greasemonkey script for Ffx around I used for.. two days, because it was annoying. The userscripts are handy though.

Stuff like what was going on at GameRanger should go to WP:RPP. Admin Kizor (nice fellow) protected the page, which is what you could've requested as well at that page. If you desire punitive action against the vandals, go to WP:AIV or WP:ANI, but I usually do not do that for the kind of hit-and-run stuff you saw here. I'm a bad example to follow in this area, though. Vandalism certainly isn't a reason for voting to speedily delete (!) an article. Speedy deletion is quite a formal and tricky thing, too, read WP:CSD ...

I haven't done any Good Article reviewing myself, but the process is explained at WP:RGA. Note: there is quite a lot of 'drama' surrounding good article reviews. Be wary of what you get into! User:Krator (t c) 14:12, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm hoping we can have a constructive discussion. If you disagree, I think it would be just as helpful to put together a counter-proposal. WP:SYN needs to be clarified either way.
