Hey, I was thinking of editing your Freehub_vs_freewheel_hub to do a cut away section of each to show the bearings. (well, at least to try to) What did you use to make it? Would you have a svg (or other format that inkscape can handle) kicking around somewhere?
You've singled out the bike I've ridden the most and the bike I've ridden the least. I bought the Litespeed new in 1994 to be the last bike I would ever need after riding the Cannondale just about into the ground. I snagged the Trek at the shop. Someone had donated it for some project, and I figured a neat old Raleigh with matching rack and fenders I had would be just as appreciated. I think the easiest way is: You just double your file “Labeled_Bicycle_Hub_Comparison-en.svg” and save it under the new file-name “Labeled_Bicycle_Hub_Comparison-de.svg” (-de instead of –en). Afterwards I will change (in the –de file) the English description into the German description. This is pretty easy. After that, your job is to adjust the blue colored frames around the German descriptions and the blue lines between the blue frames and the parts at the hub. (This is too difficult for me.) I'm don't like the idea of you doing the words and me doing the boxes, I don't think it'll save me much time, and it has the possibility to end up taking me more time, as I would be less famillar how the objects are grouped, and layered, and the like. There are a few other changes I'd like to make to that image, so if you put the translation here I could do those changes at the same time as doing a de version.

I've just re-upped the en image with a few minor modifications. Mainly I've changed the non-drive-side (left) of the hub to make it more accurate (I'd mistakenly made it so that it would have been impossible to press in the left cup.) More relevantly to this discussion is that I added a label for the "dust cover" on the left side. While it's not that important, I think it is of interest, as cassette and FW hubs tend to have significantly different dust covers. And it may not be that clear what they are in the image. The German translation for “Dust cover“ is a little bit difficult. If it has the shape of a washer the German word is “Staubschutzscheibe” (In English: Dust-Protection-Washer). In the case of the freehub the German word is “Staubschutzhaube” (In English: Dust-Protection-Cap). But in your diagram is not enough space for both terms. So I think we need a compromise: “Staubschutz” (in English: Dust Protection) I think, the dust cover on the freewheel hub is not 100% perfect. Normally there is a little gap between the dust cover and the bearing cone (or if the dust cover is fixed on the bearing cone, the little gap is between dust cover and hub body). By the way: I also use your diagram “Bicycle_wheel_dish_diagram.svg”. The centre line at the rim is hard to see! The visibility would be better, if it is a little bit darker. I agree with you. It is the best to leave the dust cover description in the de-version out. A sentence to our translation-problem: Especially with technical terms, you can use a lot of different words for the same identical thing. But some terms are common and other terms are not common. I didn't realize until now when I looked further down the history what a battle it's been for you and FowlerandFowler to attempt to reign in Hindutashravi who is way out of touch with the facts. Some days (like all this week) I get to work on Aksai Chin all day, and next week will be headed over again to Ladakh (I see you've gotten there a few times!!) but I didn't mean to jump into this article uninvited.....I was just trying to correct some of the geographic trivia (heights, rivers, Soda Plains is only the northern part) plus the rather important and verifiable fact that India showed the line variable and indistinctly until the 1954 Nehru decree; only then did their maps start showing Aksai Chin as part of India uniformly; McMahon Line doesn't apply here, etc. I'll be away, but I'm with you on your efforts to maintain a modicum of the NPOV facts in this article!....keep up the good work.DLinth (talk) 14:40, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tibet county locator requests
HI. I've recently expanded Lhorong County and aim to fill out some of the others. However I was wondering if you could use your File:Tibet&neighbors Locator map.svg to create county locators by shading in the relative county in red like say Sikasso Cercle and saving it as e.g File:Lhorong County locator map.svg, File:Rutog County locator map.svg etc. If you could do all of the counties in Tibet I'd be grateful. It shouldn't take you more than a few minutes to produce each one it is just a case of using the blank map each time and highlighting the relative county. You can work them out using the existing maps anyway. This would be a great help if you could do this. Shade the county in dark red? Actually you could use the same dark orange/tan color you did with File:Shigatse map.svg that'd be fine and you could write the name of the county e.g Lhorong County in the same writing underneath that'd look good. So basically I would like a set of svg county locators like File:Shigatse map.svg but with the relative counties shaded rather than the whole prefectures. Can you do this? I don't them with the yellow bachground for the prefecture like in the horrid picture on the bottom right, but just say each county highlighted in the tan color nice and clean for whatever country it is. I'm flattered that you would like to use the SVG Tibet map I put together as a starting point for county level locator maps. I have two concerns about it: First I'm not sure that the map will be accurate enough if scaled up to that level of detail; second we never got past the issues with the projection of the map (how it should be a equirectangular projection and it's not) that causes the push pins to locate improperly. I'd not want to have a bunch of locater maps using this wrong projection. It would be tempting for editors to tweak the location in the template so it renders the right location on the wrong projection. Then someone makes a map with the right projection, and more accuracy, and none of the push pins are in the right spot. So I'd like to politely decline the suggestion. Sure I can do some of these. I did work hard to keep the file well organized (sensible layers, etc) and inkscape is a great program, I didn't know how to use it when I did with my first image and I would encourage you to download Inksacape and give it a try. It would be nice to see the file format stay as SVG, it's so much more flexable. A couple things that might through off someone new to inkscape: You'll need to unlock the layers, (Layer->Layers-> click on lock icon), and change the lines to solid before using the flood fill tool, (Object->Fill and Stroke->Stroke Style -> Dashes), then use the flood fill tool, and change back to the original dashes. Hi, truly excellent diagram, but I have a few little niggles: It looks like the bottom-most part you included is the outer axle nut, that keeps the hub in the frame? If so, then I think you've neglected to explode it into the nut plus the plastic cover on it -- that or it's a newer version I'm not familiar with.

I don't remember why I didn't explode that too, I think it'll come off, but don't have it accessible for a few months. Thanks for the license rights and please check that it's OK. No big deal, but I would prefer that the image of the threadless headset not have the red centerline down the middle so it like the other one, if that is something you don't mind doing. Also, in this image, you didn't indicate where the handlebar stem goes -- that might be added. I had 700x37c on for that trip, and they fit, but had some problems with build up of mud or ice on the inside of the fenders, and it rubbing. On a couple days it got so bad that the wheels seized up, and I had to spend time cleaning it up so I could keep riding. Hi. I saw File:Flying Pigeon headbadge.JPG, which you uploaded, in the Flying Pigeon article. I've seen this logo elsewhere -- as I remember as one of a number of FP logos pictured on some webpage -- and I wondered about it looking more like Fg than Fp at that time. As it happens, a friend of mine just started importing FP bicycles to the Philippines, so I photographed the logo on one of those and uploaded it as File:Flying pigeon logo 2013.jpg. I haven't linked that image anywhere, but it probably ought to go in the FP article. Perhaps you know something abut the differences between the logos and could provide info on that (?). Yes, I suspect biased editing, paid editing, or something similar. I don't think this is their first Wikipedia account. If anything I'm surprised I've not come across this sort of issue more often. I don't think the case is clear cut enough to take action, although I expect you have more experience with this sort of thing than me. Well, at present it looks like it's heading for a snow Keep unless someone proves that it really isn't notable. I'm not in a fit state at the moment (grounded today and on antibiotics and with a throat like this I shouldn't have had satay chicken for tea...) to assess it clearly. I'm just doing the easy ones. I put that comment up to make sure that people were aware of the 'official' position on defunct and/or eaten entities. Most of the AfD crowd would know, but there might be socks once they work things out. I did make it plain that continued use of that non-speedy reason could lead to trouble, and reckoned getting it to AfD would give a consensus. I wasn't expecting a snowfall within 24 hours... Thanks for letting me know about that image, ShakespeareFan00. It had been removed from the article I'd uploaded it for, and it seems to have been done so with little reason. I've added it back to the article, and hopefully it'll stay there. I've erred on the side of caution when I classified it as non-free. The photo I have was taken by my dad in the '70s, of some sort of printed promotional material. My dad is happy to let the image be licensed freely, but we have no idea about the licensing of printed copy he took the photo of. It seems likely that no one thought about how to licence the image at the time, and no licensing info is visible on the printed copy. WP:DECORATIVE use in APL (programming language) which fails WP:NFCC#8. Claiming that this "illustrates promotion material" implies purely decortive use since there's no sourced critical commentary anywhere in th article about the images itself or the advertising/promotion campaign it was use in so the crontect required by NFCC#8 for non-free use is not provided. The image might be a nice image per se, but non-free images need to be contextually tied into relevant article content to justify their use. So, unless this can be somehow converted to public domain or a free license, or sourced critical commentary about the image itself or the particular campaign it was used in is added to the article, this is not going to be acceptable non-free use. Finally, licensing this as {{Non-free comic}} makes no sense at all.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Jammu and Kashmir; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

Thank you for the message on talk page. I'm not sure how you got Afghanistan in the mix, maybe I fixed a typo on an Afghanistan related article at one point? Or maybe it's just bundled in the mix, despite not editing in the area.
More relevantly, while I do take an interest in the area, there are many areas I find more engaging and have done far more editing on. I don't really think putting an note on my talk page pointing out that I have taken an interest in the area, w/o mentioning other areas I take an interest in, is entirely appropriate.
