Unreferenced BLPsHello Jbmurray! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 4 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 14 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Last year there was a heated doscussion on the article entitled Earl of Clare. I was a part of it and a newby at the time. I am still a newby but alot wiser. Is it possible to archive that discussion page? Thanks in advance for any response. Mugginsx (talk) 12:46, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
(outdent:) I've gone ahead and done this for you, as I don't see anything particularly controversial about it. Again, any editor can archive, though clearly ongoing discussions should be kept on the talk page. --jbmurray (talk • contribs) 22:56, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
no problem!Glad you liked it! --jbmurray (talk • contribs) 18:08, 15 January 2010 (UTC) here it is!This is your new message. =)
Hola! Here's another new message :D —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thussen (talk • contribs) 18:22, 15 January 2010 (UTC) Tniamath and Alejo CarpentierJon, I just fixed Tniamath's attempt to sign up for Alejo Carpentier, but you might want to explain the problem to the student. They evidently clicked on the "edit" link that takes them to the article on Carpentier, and added their signature there, rather than clicking on the edit link on the right hand side of the paragraph and adding their signature to the list of signatures in the project page. I will leave a message on their talk page but I wanted you to be aware of it. Mike Christie (talk) 13:58, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
Leyendas de GuatemalaJon, I'd be happy to add my name as one of the liaisons for Leyendas de Guatemala, if you'd like. I see that's the last one without a liaison at the moment. My time on wiki may be a bit more limited than some other editors so I'll understand if you'd rather wait for another editor to volunteer. Mike Christie (talk) 09:03, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
Spanish admin neededJbmurray, do you have time to look in here? Thanks, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 19:03, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
Request for your helpThe article on Jacques de Molay was probably 75% unsourced or improperly sourced (i.e., using a set of historical novels as a source) It was as it looked on 2 February when I added sourced material to the site and cleaned up Section Headings, without removing any text. Apparently my reference went in disarray and I fixed it quite properly as was asked by a minimal contributor to the site who is also an administrator. Now she has combined my material with someone elses, added a few word os her own to rephrase, thus making it her "original research". She then took the last sentence of my sourced material and placed it in a new paragraph telling me to give a "new" source to it as she calls my research "too old" and primary material. I am cutting and pasting the conversation here for your convenience to evaluate because I do not want any confrontation. Please advise. Here, for your convenience, follows what has transpired so far: Beginning Discussion: I see that there are some sources to the article which appear to be a bit mangled. For example: "Raynald. ann. 1313, No. 39.—Raynouard, pp. 20.J-10.—Cbntin. Guill. Nangiac. ann. 1313.—Joann. de S.Victor. (Bouquet, XXI. 658).—Chrou. Anon. (Bouquet, XXI. 143).—Godefroy de Paris v. G033-6129.—Villani Cbron. viii. 92.— hron. CorneL Zantfliet ann. 1310 (Martene Ampl, Coll. V. 160).— Trithem. Chron. Hirsaug. ann. 1307.—Pauli ^mylii de Reb. Gcst. Franc. Ed. 1509, p. 431" Can anyone expand these to something intelligible, so that the information can be verified? I'm also concerned that these may be Primary Sources, rather than the Secondary Sources that are best for Wikipedia. See also WP:PSTS and WP:CITE. --Elonka 20:12, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
One more thing, I changed the Section Heading "References and Further Reading". They should never be together as they represent two different categories.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Mugginsx (talk • contribs)
Thank you for any help or advise you would give me. I realize and I and am clearly new to editing in Wiki. I do however know my research and the difference between primary sources and "old sources" and "original research". I will defer to your judgment as I respect your work. Acknowledgement of an Excellent Administrator
I think, too often, we tend to criticize the administrators more than praise them. That is too bad, but I would like to rectify that here in my praise for User:Jbmurray. He is a fair and just Administrator, not because of any particular service he has done for me, although he has done such services, but rather for his style, his innate sense of fairness and sometimes his gentle criticism too ALL editors who have had the good fortunate to seek his services. One has only to seek out his work to know that he is extremely knowledgeable, yet humble in his style. In my opinion, he is surely an exemplification of how Wiki defines a good administrator. I hope he is acknowledged for his work. He is surely the Administrator's Administrator. Mugginsx (talk) 15:17, 6 February 2010 (UTC) hiSo I was going to just ask my group mates, but mr. Mike Christie advised me to post on your talk page - how do we hand in the annotated biblio? i know you probably said this in class, so sorry, but do we just post it on our article's talk page all together, or do you want it in another form also? Cheers, --Rekarrr (talk) 01:34, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Ettrig (talk) has brought it to our attention that the photo in our Alejo Carpentier article is actually flagged for being incorrectly licensed. But this is the same photo that you looked at with our group last week in class and we all saw that it was okay. ....did we miss something?? Thanks! Katie322 (talk) 05:36, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
QuestionHi Jon, my Wikipedia group is wondering who is responsible for submitting our page to see what Wiki grade/status it will receive. Is that something you're going to do after Monday (the 19th) or should we do that beforehand? Thanks! --Sezekiel (talk) 22:24, 17 April 2010 (UTC) I was wondering the same. Also wondering if you have received either of my emails. Students Adding to ArticlesI see that you've tagged a few articles as autobiographical. Is it all right for students to start or add to articles of teachers who they do not know personally outside of class? It seems strange that publishers/editors of magazines may create and make changes to their own articles and students cannot write about teachers. If it's not all right then I have no problem with taking any articles or edits of this sort down. Thank you for your attention to this. Fantasyliterary (talk) 17:25, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Bunch of stubs, that have been added to the Translate from spanish categoryHey, since you are knowledgable about these sorts of things (and might have students that are interested in improving some of them), we have been getting a lot of Latin American novel stubs, such as A veinte años, Luz, which some user has been mass producing by translating a line or two from the Spanish Language versions. If you have some students working on this kind of stuff, making those articles at least prove notability in English would be a nice place to start for students to get familiar with Wikipedia! (and would be invaluable in identifying which of these should actually be deleted),Sadads (talk) 17:10, 28 August 2010 (UTC) Congrats to you and your studentsThanks to you and your students for creating such a great reference work on Mario Vargas Llosa in 2008! I'm sure that everyone who went to the page after reading about the Noble Prize that was awarded to him was very appreciative. NW (Talk) 01:30, 8 October 2010 (UTC) I agree!

Isabel AllendeGiven her famous translations many may think Isabel Allende writes in English esp with the opening you reverted back to. You revert is simply incomprehensible, dont assume everyone knows as much as you on the subject. Thanks, ♫ SqueakBox talk contribs 15:02, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
To authors of past Signpost article on plagiarismPlease see Wikipedia talk:Featured article candidates#Suggestion; momentum seems to have stalled at WT:FAC. My idea is to create a page that would be useful across all content review processes, and where we would have a centralized registry so we don't have to clutter each nomination with the same questions to repeat nominators. I'm not sure how we would name the page, so I've put it in my userspace for now-- feel free to edit. See also User:MLauba/Signpost definitions, an upcoming Signpost article. Best, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:05, 9 November 2010 (UTC) Core encyclopedia stuff....Jbmurray, I figure you're pretty busy off-wiki these days but figured you may be interested in offering some opinion on the following link (I hope it is clear), given your background in teaching. The wikicup is an annual competitition which rewards audited content such as DYKs, GAs and FAs (this obviously favours the improvement of alot of esoteric and precise material, which is fine in and of itself, but made me curious whether we could look at ways of promoting the improvement of core encyclopedia content over trivia with the wikicup next year Thus, see Wikipedia_talk:WikiCup/Scoring#Okay_-_bombs_away, where I have proposed bonus multipliers for subjects related to core content. The trick is trying to come up with a category that can be checked quickly (yes/no) to see if the article qualifies...and one that can't be gamed. I thought you may be intrigued at the proposal and comment on the categories proposed thus far. (of course you may think the whole idea's silly...but I am mindful this is an active and fun competition for many so is at least a good place to start from rather than creat something from scratch) cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 02:38, 15 December 2010 (UTC) PS: Let me know if this makes no sense to you...Casliber (talk · contribs) 02:38, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
