Administrator Elections: Voting phase

Administrator Elections | Voting phase

The voting phase of the October 2024 administrator elections has started and continues until 23:59 31st October 2024 UTC. You can participate in the voting phase at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Voting phase.

As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

• October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
• November 1–? - Scrutineering phase

In the voting phase, the candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone who qualifies for a vote will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote tallies cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's tally during the election. The suffrage requirements are different from those at RFA.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for an indeterminate amount of time, perhaps a week or two. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose). As this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

refexpander cleanup for Newspaper endorsements in the 2008 United States presidential primaries

Hello Judy!

I am working on finishing up batch 1 of the refexpander cleanup project. We are down to single digit red X count! I see that you have been meticulously and I am sure painfully working through the 2008 primary article. I haven't started looking to see if I can figure out where you got to in working through that diff, do you have any notes on what you have checked already? Do you want help getting that article finished?

I certainly do admire your dedication to that RefExpander list. I've gotten through bits here n' there, but I mostly edit during free moments at work so there aren't really any items that I did completely myself. Cheers to almost bein' done with batch 1!

As for your question, I apologize since this means the answer won't be terribly helpful, but while initially I was on this article for the RefExpander fix, there was definitely a reason why XOR put a vomit emoji in its box instead of an X. I eventually decided it'd just be easier to go through the whole thing top-to-bottom n' fix all of the references that had issues, which was...a lot of 'em, 'specially if you count an unarchived dead link as an issue, and even if you don't count a wayward ^[citation needed] as one. To be honest, it got to a point where I was only really referencin' the Philoserf diff when RefExpander wiped out the info of an expired page.

At any rate, as far as that goes, I'm on Huckabee's nominations and just found the endorsement from the Iowa Press-Citizen (talk about "painful"!). In relation to that diff, that'd prolly put my progress as having just finished cleanup of the Toledo Blade Obama endorsement ref; though er, it looks like you've done that as part of your cleanup, so it's possible that I may have missed it. If you're willin' to help with this page, that'd be fantastic! I've been workin' on it pretty single-mindedly for so long that I have a few goals in mind for its development beyond the RefExpander cleanup, though of course I understand if ya just wanna keep it to the project at hand. Newspaper endorsements in a primary from 17 years ago isn't exactly a riveting subject, and I'm still invested in the RefExpander project even if I'm not always able to contribute as much as I want to.

Whenever you answer, just be aware that I'm not usually checkin' up on Wiki stuff over the weekend, so I might not reply back right away.
