I was just changing the Ford Fairmont page to a redirect for the Australian and North American versions. The information in the Ford Fairmont page has been copied to the Ford Fairmont (North America) page.

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Ford Fairmont a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. I created the article to go alongside the other tourism articles for cities in Australia such as Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney, all of which are considerably small and read like advertisements. Is there any chance it could be reinstated as it goes well with them, AI was only used for reference and not for the actual publication of the article.

@HoldenFan1104, I trusted one of my editor friends, @Chaotic Enby, for verification of the use of LLMs and they can verify the information. I can remove the promocruft and give you an idea of where to start next. But some of the most AI-like things are some of the word choices and sentence structuring which is a dead giveaway. No one types how the article is structured and if someone has shown it, it's most likely AI-generated. No one I have seen on Wikipedia use things like "cultural tapestry", "Visitors can indulge in a variety of foods", "fostering a deeper understanding of animal welfare and environmental stewardship", "the garden serves as a tranquil retreat within the city, ideal for leisurely strolls or quiet contemplation".

The most promocruft filled sections are Nature and wildlife, Shopping precincts, and Nearby attractions which all read like it's grabbed from some "Visit Australia!" website. Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 05:07, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
