This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered.

Information to be removed: For https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvey_Weinstein requesting removal of the reference to the University at Buffalo in the Early Life section. Explanation of issue: Weinstein is not an true alumnus. He attended UB but never fulfilled the requirements. He was awarded additional 'experiential credit' to be allowed to graduate to support his honorary degree, which has since been revoked. So his only significant affiliation was an honorary degree which was revoked when he was convicted of serious crimes and while he is certainly controversial, he is certainly no longer a noteworthy alumnus unless you also wish to cite his crimes. Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Rapping elayne.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:09, 4 September 2008 (UTC). Ah, I see, that explains it. Apologies for the messages above- I thought there may be a language barrier or something; we get a lot of issues with people uploading images they shouldn't. Your best bet would be to submit the photographs from an official address (along with an explanation, including clear information about the licensing) to our OTRS team, as is explained here. Alternatively, if you're happy for all of the images from the university website (or some other source) to be released into the public domain, a single email with an explanation can be sent to that address, and the images can then be tagged with this template, adding the OTRS ticket number- the OTRS volunteer will no doubt email you back with instructions for how to do this if you request it. A third way that you could do this is to upload the images that you are happy to be released into the public domain, tag them as public domain (and provide the source, author etc) and add this template to the image, then send the email, with links to where the images have been uploaded. An OTRS volunteer will then verify the licensing, and add a tag to say that they have. Apologies for all this bureaucracy- Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and so policy is careful to allow only free images. J Milburn (talk) 16:20, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your input! The user on the UB page tried several times to place 'Buffalo University' on the headline, in addition to increasing the size of the seal to a scale too large for render. Would you be able to upload a PNG vector, large size image of the seal and University at Buffalo logo, similar to that of the University of Toronto's? We have JPGs of our logo and seal, but I have not been able to figure out how to load images into Wikipedia before when I didn't personally make the files, but our office did. You are most welcome. As I mentioned, I never did figure out how to satisfy the copyright barriers, even though I can authorize use of the images on Wikipedia.... I'd be willing to try again. Our page is many years out of date!

Sorry to appear heavy-handed, but we have been waiting very patiently for the page editors to bring our page up to date. We finally decided to try pushing out a series of specific friendly edits, to allow the editors to either commit these updates, or to engage us in a dialog about the correct information. We would be happy to provide additional clarification, to point the editors to current references, and even to provide neutrally phrased language if that would be helpful. Regrettably, the page is now so very much out of date, it needs to be extensively corrected, and some sections (e.g. the UB 2020 strategic plan) should really be removed. That process would be extremely difficult to carry out through the Talk page. I can happily share a Word document that provides detailed corrections and revisions. I literally reached out through the Talk page and requested changes. The University at Buffalo page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_at_Buffalo) is still woefully out of date. For example, it sill references the UB2020 strategic plan, and one of its components, the "Comprehensive Physical Plan", which were achieved years ago and replaced with our Top 25 Ambition (see https://www.buffalo.edu/top25ambition.html).
