To me, it looked like it was not very well written and somewhat biased. The second and fourth sentences seem more defensive then factual; as does the thing about it not logging IP addresses. The rest looks like a big effort to get people to join to VIP service. In a word: adcruft. Single Wiki-Wide disambiguation

Hi. I noticed that you removed my bulletin board posting about a proposition to create a Wiki-wide single disambiguation scheme. True that the discussion on the page I pointed to is not "major" - but elsewhere, namely on the Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (settlements), debate (over the "City, State" convention and the comma disambiguation in general) has been raging since three years. The problem with this debate is that it has involved the same players, a majority of which seem to be from the US (I would like to say "and other countries where the comma practice is common", but this doesn't seem to be the case) - the goal of posting to the signpost post was to widen the debate to contributors from other countries. People don't come to Wikipedia to read only about their own country, after all - and the objective input would be very helpful to this deadlocked discussion.

The proposition to create a convention around a single, universally recognisable disambiguation scheme is a serious one, and one, I think, in the interests of the international media that is Wiki.

Freshmen magazine

You deleted the Freshmen (magazine) article on 23 November 2006 with the notation "(prod, notability)". I somehow missed the prod altogether (no one follow the procedure of notifying editors of articles about prods; I'm guilty of not doing it, either). Since this is one of the top two or three gay porn magazines in existence, I have to believe that the article was deficient. iPod shuffle image

Is the copyright tag supposed to be this instead?

This image is copyrighted, however the copyright holder [[:User:{{{1}}}|{{{1}}}]] allows the image to be freely redistributed, modified, used commercially and for any other purpose, provided that their authorship is attributed.

It's okay; we all make mistakes. However, I'm afraid that Apple hasn't allowed for the image to be free distributed. I realize that Apple produces better images, and that the media uses them, but here, we have to use our own photographs. Anything that Apple made or that comes from something Apple made is off limits (for hardware, since we can make our own; we get by with fair use on software screenshots). Yes, I know it bites. But that's the law. And don't be intimidated by the giant "possible copyright violation" template, either. 6th gen Hype

I re-added the section "6th gen. hype" section to the iPod article. I also included the "apple's patent"[1] of the product. And please remember the word Hype means theory so please be-sure to understand the terms and conditions before removing article.

There's no proof at all. Apple hasn't said a word about a new iPod generation. They just updated the fifth one. All of your references are from the same site, and it's a year old! I've seen such speculation before. It's probably a takeoff of Zune's bigger screen. Why the revert on the iTunes article?

I know that you might feel that the iTunes Art Importer is unnotable, but that's exactly its problem - it's not nearly as well known as it should be. I discovered it back in the days of iTunes 5, and it's served me well since AND through iTunes 7. It's far better than the built in Art-Adder with iTunes 7.

I strongly ask of you that my revision be allowed, as I hope more people will use it and that it will encourage the author to write a final version of it (instead of just the beta copy that I've been using for quite a while)

It may have served you well, but that's the problem. Wikipedia does not allow original research; basically, anything you did yourself. If you can find a reliable source not affiliated with you or the company that makes it, go ahead and put it back in. Furthermore, a source proves notability. your name pretty much jumped up at me because - you guessed it - I need help. I wish to create a category Category:Buildings with sculpture by Corrado Parducci, but don't know how (luddite). Parducci produced sculpture on about 600 buildings and there are perhaps a dozen in wikipedia now and more on the way. I don't know if you need a few to get it started, but Penobscot Building, Meadow Brook Hall Kirk in the Hills and St. Peter Cathedral, Marquette are some, the last two being what I've been working on tonight. That's a little bug in the category syntax. [[Category:Buildings with sculpture by Corrado Parducci]] will put the page in that category, unless it's in <nowiki></nowiki> tags. Try [[:Category:Buildings with sculpture by Corrado Parducci]] (there's a colon right after the two opening brackets). I hope you can help me at a very basic level.

I am wanting to upload my first article onto Wikipedia, but all I get is a message that the file I want to upload is empty.

Can I check with you what I should be doing? My email address is below, since I am so new to Wikipedia that I am not sure how to find this page again.

I am a surgeon on the board of Wikisurgery (www.wikisurgery.com). The idea of the article is to alert Wikipedia users of Wikisurgery's existence.

Wikisurgery contains numerous absolutely unique detailed operative scripts. The scripts aim to provide all the expert information that a surgeon uses when operating. This is a completely new approach to training in surgery.

Wikisurgery also contains detailed information leaflets to help patients understand about their operations.

Third:please understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. If you want to write an encyclopedia article on Wikisurgery, follow this link and create Wikipedia:your first article. Articles are typed in to the editing window, just like how you typed in the above message. The "Upload file" button on the left is used for media (pictures, sounds, animations) in specific file formats. If you want to write an encyclopedia article on what Wikisurgery is, you should read over the Simplified Ruleset first. (A brief understanding of basic Wikipedia policy is sufficient for most cases.) If you want to enhance Wikipedia's articles on specific surgery topics, you can edit those pages (use the search bar to the left) or go to Category:Surgery and List of surgical procedures. You can also add external links (links to non-Wikipedia sites) to the applicable page on Wikisurgery in the "External links" section of the article. If you want to upload Wikisurgery media, you should do it on the Wikimedia Commons. That's what called a sister project, another, separate Wiki associated with Wikipedia. The great thing about the Commons as opposed to Wikipedia is that all sister projects in all languages can use the media, instead of just the English Wikipedia. Media uploaded to the Commons should be of a "free" license: Public domain, GFDL, or certain Creative Commons licenses. Another useful sister project is Wikibooks. They are "Surgical scripts" and "Pantogen surgical scripts". The articles differ only in the presence of the word Pantogen in the title of the second one.

I should be most grateful if you would check that the procedure has been OK. I should like to delete the second article if you agree.

Hi. Regarding your edit to Mac OS X. Logos are standard on operating system articles. My reproduction of the logo mimics the actual current one to the extent that I don't know why you call it unofficial. According to Mac_OS_history, the finder logo is also the actual logo for Mac OS, and my reproduction is the only one of the most current version of the logo on Wikipedia. I addressed your reasons for removing it. I would appreciate your response, and maybe we'll decide together if it is best for the article or not. Thanks Althepal 02:02, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

I see your point. Truth be told, "logo" is part of the "Infobox OS" template. Furthermore, my version of the finder is more up-to-date than the other version. So it looks like what should be done is that Macosxlogo.png should replace Finder_icon.png (also because my version is large enough for Wikipedia uses, but, being fair uses, isn't too big), a delete tag should be put on Finder_icon.png, and Macosxlogo.png should be put back on the OS infobox. Hi, sorry to butt in. I checked on Apple's site for media guidlines on logo usage. The "smiley face" logo doesn't just represent the Finder, it represents Mac OS X. Older systems have their own versions of the smiley face, back to 7.6. Check out their logo program. MFNickster 04:48, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

I hope you now see that logos are standard, that my logo is superior to the current logo on the finder article, and that Macosxlogo.png should be on both articles. What do you say? Sorry to also butt in, but that isn't the Mac OS X logo. It is the "Mac logo". It represents the computer, not the operating system. That is what the logo program linked above says anyway. According to History_of_Mac_OS#Mac_OS_X, this is the Mac OS X logo. By the way, here's a reproduction of the OS Leopard logo.

Admittedly, the "Mac Logo" is probably best considered as the logo of the Mac platform as a whole rather than of the OS or the hardware independently. Did you read Apple's usage guidelines, though? They say "The Mac logo is designed to enable easy identification of software products and hardware peripherals developed specifically to run on Mac OS X and take advantage of its advanced features." Hi AlistairMcMillan. I did look at the page you directed me to. At the bottom with the logo, it does say "Mac logo". Althepal, the "Mac OS X Universal Logo" is the Yin Yang logo and yes Apple are suggesting that both it and the "Mac Logo" are slapped on the side of packaging, because the "Mac OS X Universal Logo" would be pretty meaningless on its own. That doesn't change the fact that the "Mac Logo" is the "Mac Logo" and not the "Mac OS X Logo". AlistairMcMillan 09:37, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

It is interesting that you get the Apple logo on boot where you used to see the "Mac OS" splash screen, and the smiley logo when you choose "About Finder." You get the Apple logo when you choose "About this Mac," right above the text reading "Mac OS X." I'd say that there is enough reason to have a logo, and it does seem that the reflective mac face is new to OS X. Therefore, this should be on the OS X article. The X is specific to the subversion and cannot be as the infobox logo. Althepal 18:44, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

I already mentioned history of mac os article. That is what I'm basing myself on. But we can all agree that the link to Apple's site indicates that the logo is for either Mac OS or Mac OS X. It is also known that before OS X came about, the logo wasn't reflective. So I can see your point, but it seems that this is indeed specific to, or at least correlated with, OS X. But either way, even if this logo applies to all Mac OS, why wouldn't if fit in the article? Althepal 19:08, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

For xth time, Wikipedia itself is not a valid source. And we cannot agree that the Apple page says the logo is for either Mac OS or Mac OS X. The logo on the Apple page is for "Mac". Not "Mac OS". Not "Mac OS X". "Mac".

iPod nano RED image

The old image is blurry. Look at the borders around the LCD screen, they blur into the body of the nano. Look at the strange halo effect around the top of the nano. My guess is that the old image was originally a much smaller resolution and was then resized up to its current resolution, possibly part of a much larger image showing the whole range of RED products or the whole range of nano colours. That is pretty much why as soon as I noticed the new image posted to the iPod article, I went around and replaced the old image. The new image is cleaner, crisper, and doesn't have strange artifacts from being resized.

Two other things. The old image, although it appears to be turned off, looks like it is sitting on a brightly lit surface exactly like the displays Apple sets up in their stores and their demos. And I'm not sure why you think head on with a neutral background is better for an encyclopedia, I would respectfully disagree, I think the tilted image with the non-neutral background helps at least give a real impression of the shape and at least a vague idea of the size of the nano. Golden Sun problem

I've a problem about the Golden Sun video game. I've tried to complete it but I can't. Now I'll tell you my problem that is in Mercury Lighthouse, when Isaac goes to a room which is blocked and he falls down and comes in the room in which there is a statue of goddess and there is written {{cquote He who honors the heart of goddess shall stand at centre of all like a swan in springling water}} Please help me and if like this there will be any other problem then give me solution and tell me whole about when Isaac talks with Saturos. Edit it in the article of Golden Sun.

Kolima

When Isaac goes to Kolima, you know that everything is changed into tree and there is a bad tree who says Hdroom and he wants Isaac and his friends to be turned into trees but we spin around a blue barrier. When the speech ends then Garet asks: Isaac, you have an idea what to do. Isaac says Yes. When Isaac goes to Kolima Forest, he meets two trees one is female and the other is that enemy. He goes into that tree and is called Tret tree. He captures Breeze that is a Djinn of wind but when he comes out of Kolima Forest, there is no solution of turning the trees into people. This isn't exactly what Wikipedia is for...but (a) use Ply when standing on the goddess's hands and (b) go to the uppermost level of Tret, fall down through the central hole, fight the boss. Then you'l need to bring him the Hermes water, which involves fighting the boss in the Mercury Lighthouse and using the empty bottle (or whatever it's called) found in Imil.--HereToHelp 23:32, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

You've failed HereToHelp

I think so I've used Ply when standing at goddess's hands and I've used all the psynergies that we can use in the Mercury Lighthouse and if we use moving pysnergy when we are travelling in the lighthouse there are some blocks which become shining red. If you've any cheat or code please tell me, I'll do my best to go to up of Mercury Lighthouse. You know when we reach up, we find Breeze there. How we can fall in the hole because when I reach up I've found only Breeze. We can use ply to cure the heroes but if you say something then I'll try my best --User:Dick Mark 16:34, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I haven't failed. Wikipedia is not a discussion for this sort of thing; I volunteered information but made no guarantee it would help you. Please forgive me for whatever I gave you the heading. Because of you, I completed my mission in Mercury Lighthouse and I've saved people of Kolima as you told. I went through the Kolima Bridge to Xian and then to Altin but please tell me, where to go and by which way, I had made the water gone in Altin and there is an enemy at the deepest of the peak of Altin. I've also defeated him. There is treasure chest and something in it. Please tell me if I've to go back to Vault or I've to go to any other place. Please help me. Because of your help and what you said, I've done. Now give me the next instruction as I've asked. Remember that from Moghal Forest, I've come to Xian. I can get you past that problem...but it's really your game. It wouldn't be any fun if I told you how it worked. Think what you can do in each dungeon, and if you haven't changed something or gotten something extremely useful, you aren't done with the dungeon.
