Keep contributing to wikipedia.

It's really unfortunate that this happened. Even I was blocked a few month back. I had expressed my concern then -

"I am shocked that wikipedia is so prone to misunderstanding and administrator possibly have fewer tools which could help them to take authentic actions."

I wish administrators use this - Wikipedia:Assume good faith more often then the limited tools provided to them. Apart from this, administrators should never misuse their position. Also I don't think many would support for an article being deleted based on voting . It should be based on the reasons posted on Afd page by various users and not the number of users.

Wikipedia:Discuss_and_Vote: An admin takes the discussion into account as well as the numbers voting to arrive at an informed conclusion. Consequently, the stronger arguments will prevail although a decision contrary to the majority would only be rendered when there is compelling evidence of inappropriate campaigning or "vote stacking" by one side. Because the point of these processes is to form consensus, it is preferable that people include comments and discuss the matter along with voting - that is, people are encouraged to explain their reasonings, respond to others and possibly compromise or change a vote, rather than signing a one-word opinion and not looking back.

Kalimpong - Politics section

Hi, I understand that such a politics section is not needed in FA articles, just like Darjeeling or Kolkata. I didn't add it, as I did not add it in other FAs, even though I added similar info in many other non-FA article. Will you please move this text, as suggested by you in your comments "History of politics can go inside the Darjeeling (Lok Sabha constituency) article. Not needed here. removed Politcs section."? Kalimpong FARC

Now, this is gonna be relatively tough job. Tough to find out online refs. Nichalp probably used some book(s) while developing the article for FAC.

Is there any way you could cut down the map in the infobox. Only a small portion of it shows Kalimpong, and the smaller, included map of India does a good job of locating Kalimpong in a general sense relative to India. Hi. I've made a minor copyedit. Please check if my edits are OK. I find that the following issues need to be addressed:

1. Somehow avoid the self-reference in the phrase "this article". Possible add "as per census 2001" where necessary and do away with this sentence?
2. Explain what is meant by "annual average exponential growth rate". Based on my reading, if it's a percentage, they use the term "rate", else "ratio". And what do we mean by exponential here? Is the measure something like, log(delta p / p)? This is particularly needed because, in the following line, we talk of percentages.

Category:Dalit community stubs

I notice that this category you created is unpopulated (empty). In other words, no Wikipedia pages belong to it. If it remains unpopulated for four days, it may be deleted, without discussion, in accordance with Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#C1. I'm notifying you in case you wish to (re-)populate it by adding [[Category:Dalit community stubs]] to articles/subcategories that belong in it.

I blanked the category page. This will not, in itself, cause the category to be deleted. It serves to document (in the page history) that the category was empty at the time of blanking and also to alert other watchers that the category is in jeopardy. You are welcome to revert the blanking if you wish. However, doing so will not prevent deletion if the category remains empty.

You can still delink dates on an occasional basis; however, you may wish to be cautious and use the script only for its non-date functions until the issue is resolved by an RFC poll. Seeking help against vandalism

Hi

User:Walky-talky is constantly vandalising the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh page. He introduces soapboxy content that does not exist, claiming that it exists in sources. When asked he evades reply. I tried to discuss, plead several times. But he just reverts back things.

A scrap from somebody in his talk page, which he reverted back made me suspect that he is a sock puppet of banned user [User:Kuntanan] [1] From his very first edit he seems to know all rules of wiki. His style of editing seems to confirm my belief.

Project news Congratulations to the West Bengal workgroup for having their flagship article featured on the Main Page! The Indian states workgroup is also involved in maintaining articles about India's states and union territories. » WikiProject Indian roads was recently started as a new workgroup, to standardize and improve articles related to Indian roads, mainly the National and State Highways. After all, India has the second largest road network in the world. Iravan, the son of Arjuna, is now our 85^th good article. How do we know this? Since last year, more processes have been automated, increasing productivity. Article alerts update the project with what's happening to India-related articles, from copyright violations to featured article candidates. To do… During the last few weeks, peer reviews for the recent general election and 2003 Afro-Asian Games (held in Hyderabad) were opened and are waiting for more comments, as are several articles at the peer review department. Sikkim has been nominated for FAR, and Hastings Ismay, 1st Baron Ismay has been nominated for FAC. » Currently, 11,086 Indian articles need images. From the editors… The last newsletter was written a year ago. In June 2008, Indian Premier League was "hot" on Wikipedia, but the article about this year's IPL has attracted 477 editors, or 53% more than the previous year! Even the number of articles in the scope of our project jumped by a whopping 18,500+ articles in an year. The 3.2-year-old India quiz continues to attract old and new Wikipedians, so join in the fun! Wikipedians are organizing a meetup in Bangalore on July 4 or 5. If you are interested, head over to the page and add your name! Topics of discussion include Indian language editions of Wikipedia and Wikimedia India. RegentsPark, one of the prominent members of our project, was promoted to adminship this year. If you'd like to know who are the most avid editors of Wikipedia by number of edits, refer to this list. Hi, nice to see you login again after quite sometime. These days, many of the old FA's are getting demoted mainly due to lack of references and lack of quality copyediting. We could not even save Mumbai, though there is a good chance that it can again qualify as FA. We have made an attempt to revive collaboration efforts in the form of WP:INCOTM. Though its aim is to generate FAs, my personal aim/expectation is to get GA's out of articles rated B or lower. This seems to be easier to achieve, as FA scrutiny is pretty difficult now.--GDibyendu (talk) 15:41, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Project news File:India 1947 India Flag 3 and half annas.jpg A number of India-related articles have lost their featured article status, including Sikkim and Mumbai. The article about Gandhi was also demoted for referencing and image quality issues. Since then, Mumbai has been brought back to good article status, thanks to the efforts of Kensplanet and others. Transport in India was promoted to good article status, thanks to the efforts of Rsrikanth05, SBC-YPR and GDibyendu. Several new workgroups have been formed: WikiProjects Railways in India, Education in India and Transport in India. Please join us if you're interested in those topics! To do... The articles that have been selected for our latest collaborations of the month are history of Mumbai, Indian Railways, rail transport in India, Indian general election, 2009 and telecommunications in India. We need your help to improve them! From the editors... Wikipedians in Bangalore organised a meetup on 5 July 2009; thanks to Tinu Cherian for hosting the event! Arunram and Tinu Cherian wrote extensively about the meetup, which was also covered by Wikizine, Headlines India and The Wikipedia Signpost. Photos have been uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Sunil Abraham from the Centre for Internet and Society has offered to help host such events in the future. All in all, the meetup was a great success. Watch out for the next meetup! » Nichalp, an Indian bureaucrat and major contributor to more than 23 India-related featured articles and lists, was desysopped over allegations of paid editing and using sock puppets. An RfC about paid editing was opened as a result of this incident. A prolific editor and administrator, Bhadani is among the top ten Wikipedians by number of edits across the English Wikipedia. Congratulations to Bhadani for also making the most number of edits among Indian Wikipedians! Divisions of Maharashtra

Can you please tell me how many divisions there are in Maharashtra? List of districts of Maharashtra says its six; but Divisions of Maharashtra and the page on Maharashtra says it is seven. Paalappoo (talk) 15:07, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for the response. In Maharashtra, the name of the 7th division has been changed from Nanded to Latur by User:Pradeepbhadikar. He has also authored the page Latur Division. I had created geo stub templates for districts and categorised them as per the six divisions as mentioned in List of districts in Maharashtra. User:Pradeepbhadikar edited the templates to include Latur Division also. I am still not sure if his edits are to be reverted. Paalappoo (talk) 05:24, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Gallery of Nagpur
