User talk:Flami72/Archive 8Archive 8 April 6, 2009-Sept 6, 2009 Theatre writersI've recently put up some articles for theatre writers, including John Kenrick, J. P. Wearing, Kurt Ganzl and Andrew Lamb (may have forgotten one or two). If you have a chance, please give them a look-see and feel free to contribute. Also, please drop me a note if you think we ought to put up an article for anyone else, or if you have any other ideas. Having articles on these writers makes it easier to cite them in our articles. I've seen you pop up at CP a couple of times, and I just wanted to let you know that your attention to these has been noticed and appreciated. :) And if you prefer "theatre", feel free to alter my usage. :D --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:36, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Formatting - HairsprayLOL. In my browser, the table now looks only about half the width of the screen. Can you try 65 or 60? -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:13, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
BWW interview linksA new editor (User:ALsummer09) added links to BWW interviews to a large number of bio articles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/ALsummer09 I looked at a couple of these, and they usually had something of interest in them for the bios, but, of course, someone has deleted them all as spam. I saved a couple of them, but I just don't have time to do this and also to do that little thing we call "work". Plus, I'm in the middle of the HMS Pinafore peer review. If you have the time and inclination, it would be great if you could take a look and use the interviews in the bio articles. There's no rush - Wikipedia's not going anywhere. ParisIs David Mackay (producer) the same guy who was one of the writers of Paris? Also, it's not clear to me who wrote book, lyrics and music, or whether English and Mackay wrote all of them together. I can't even tell if the K is supposed to be upper or lower case. The agent's site has it upper. What a mess! -- Ssilvers (talk) 19:34, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
This is from the paper that I cited: "Written by Australian-based singer-actor turned playwright Jon English and British record producer David Mackay, Paris tells the story of the young prince who triggered the Trojan War...English started writing the musical 20 years ago." (The Daily Telegraph); this is from another article:"English created the musical in the late-1980s with David Mackay. They produced a concept album featuring some big names, including Demis Roussos, John Waters, Phillip Quast, Harry Nilsson and David Atkins, with the London Symphony Orchestra for backing." (TROY LENNON, Epic battle to hit stage, The Daily Telegraph (Sydney, Australia), October 24, 2003, SYDNEY LIVE; Pg. 96); here is yet another article: "Behind the scenes: Written and composed by Jon English and David Mackay...AFTER almost 20 years in conception, Jon English and David Mackay's rock musical Paris has made it to the stage in Melbourne...But Paris is not merely a love story. English and Mackay have stayed true to the well-known Greek myth about patriotism, greed and vengeance."(KYLIE SKOTNICKI, Worth the 20-year wait,Sunday Herald Sun (Melbourne, Australia),February 8, 2004 Sunday, INSIDE ENTERTAINMENT; Pg. E21). One more: "English wrote it with musical producer and lyricist David MacKay..."It made me think that it would be funny to write a song about Paris. I mentioned it to David and three weeks later, when I had finished Pirates of Penzance, we started working on this musical," he said." (CATHERINE LAMBERT, English hopes for Paris, Sunday Herald Sun (Melbourne, Australia), January 25, 2004 Sunday, INSIDE ENTERTAINMENT; Pg. E23) There is no way to tell, from these articles, who wrote what, altho' Mackay is called a "lyricist"; nor can I tell if this is the same David Mackay from the wikipedia article, although I'd make an educated guess that it is based on the JENNIE JONES, The Daily Telegraph article calling him "British record producer David Mackay" (cited in article & in my first sentence, wayyy above. Mackay=lower case in the articles. Oh well, gotta run, I MAY have time tomorrow, otherwise it's late June.JeanColumbia (talk) 20:08, 5 June 2009 (UTC) HelloHello, I don't know if you remember me (Tweedle20) but I was on the Annie talk page, and no offense or anything, but you need to kind of calm down. You were being very rude to me and critisising me about something you weren't really a part of. I'm sure you are a very nice person and all, and what you said might have been true, but it did hurt. You're a better WIkipedian then me. IS there a way to delete Wikipedia accounts? If so, how do you do it. 71.236.57.18 (talk) 13:48, 17 June 2009 (UTC)Tweedle20 Welcome back!Hope you had a good break. The musicals articles missed you! I tried to streamline the "milestones" in the Tony Awards article, as I thought it was getting out of hand. Feel free to revise. While you were gone, I had to try to defend the notability of Drama Desk Awards and some of the related awards. See if you want to revise. All the best, -- Ssilvers (talk) 16:45, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
WP guidelines don't allow future productions?I noticed on your Legally Blonde musical post, you have a comment that future productions cannot be listed? This seems like a strange rule, since I'm sure many people want to see when a touring company may be coming to their area. Also, any plans of posting past dates for the touring company? 70.190.115.191 (talk) 16:56, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Rouben Ter-ArutunianThank you for creating the Rouben Ter-Arutunian article! — Robert Greer (talk) 14:44, 7 July 2009 (UTC) BlockquoteI agree that the guideline says 4 lines, but this is less than 3 lines on my screen. Based on this and previous conversations we have held, I am guessing that your computer is set to large text size. I don't think you are seeing a typical view. Or are you using a small laptop, perhaps? All the best, -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:07, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
OK. Sorry if I've offended you in some way. Best regards, -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:07, 20 July 2009 (UTC) They're creepy and they're cooky...Hi Jean, I see you've been updating The Addams Family with a section about the upcoming musical. I've been working on an article for the show in my userspace and plan on moving it to The Addams Family (musical) once it's a bit more complete ("complete" being relative on this site, of course). While it's by no means a carbon copy of your work, I have made use of your research (especially the references) and a few cleverly-phrased passages, not realizing you were the one writing it. Hopefully you don't mind, but I just wanted to give you a heads-up. —MearsMan talk 22:48, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
LaChiusaThere are so many redlinked shows named in his template. Are all of them notable? If you think any of them will never deserve an article, perhaps we can trim down his template? Just a thought. Hope your summer is going well. -- Ssilvers (talk) 15:52, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
Your Opinion PleaseHey Jean, I noticed you update the list of currently running shows quite alot on the Broadway page and would you mind taking a look at the discussion at the bottom of this page and adding your opinion? Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Theatre Many ThanksMark E (talk) 18:55, 27 July 2009 (UTC) Orphaned non-free media (File:Little me caesar.jpg)Thanks for uploading File:Little me caesar.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media). If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:45, 29 July 2009 (UTC) Hey Jean, do you know of any way we could make the table for this article abit... simpler? I have tried to update it but i just cannot for the life of me understand all the formatting for it. There must be an easier way to sort out the table and was wondering if you had any suggestions?Mark E (talk) 09:59, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Constructive or deceptive? What do you make of these changes to A Tale of Two Cities (musical), particularly the part regarding the show's reception and closing? I can't decide whether the IP was being constructive or simply trying to obscure the fact that the show was a flop. —MearsMan talk 22:18, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Great job on expanding this article! :-)Singingdaisies (talk) 02:08, 12 August 2009 (UTC) LinkingHi. I disagree with your reading of the guideline about linking items in quotes. It says that they should not "generally" be linked and suggests other ways of getting the links in. But in these cases, there is no other reference to these items in the text, a "See also" note seems inappropriate, and it does not disturb the quote to link them. It does not lead to "overlinking", and it is helpful to link particularly to the names of related musicals in our articles. Just my 2cents. So I wouldn't read that guideline so strictly. However, I do think that your solution was very nifty. -- Ssilvers (talk) 22:41, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
New Archive through December 2009Hello. Sorry, I thought I'd gone far back in the history to revert all of that nonsense. Obviously not. Thanks for keeping an eye on it. The JPStalk to me 10:57, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
KT SullivanI just ran across this person (see: http://www.ktsullivan.com/). It seems like we outta have an article, but I'm just too backlogged with other stuff. Any interest? All the best, -- Ssilvers (talk) 22:38, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
I am concluding that your trip is to Italia :-) Have fun! Let me know when KT is up, and I'll give it a second pair of eyes for you. -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:53, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Literary Maven reviewed it. I'll take a quick look at it now. Thanks for putting up the article! -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:51, 4 October 2009 (UTC) User:MegSimpsonHi. This person has been making lots of edits to add raw cast lists (often from the Czech republic) and other information to plays and never cites any sources, despite several talk page prompts. I am not even sure that the productions noted are even professiona productions. Would you take a look at her editing history and see if you think this editor is really a problem or not? I'll leave it to you to decide what, if anything ought to be done. Let me know if I can assist you in some way. -- Ssilvers (talk) 05:42, 25 October 2009 (UTC) Peters - Legends of BroadwayHi. We have her "Legends of Broadway" album listed under "Cast Albums". Is that right, or should it go under a different heading? All the best, -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:53, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
Someone apparently connected with U. of P. added a paragraph about Russell in Pittsburgh to her Legacy section. It is a fairly well-written paragraph, but I wonder whether it is notable. Also, the reference to the haunting "legend" is a very badly written article in a student newspaper, full of typos. Hardly a serious journalistic effort. Any thoughts? All the best, -- Ssilvers (talk) 15:24, 25 November 2009 (UTC) HoaxerThe hoaxer has been blocked for six months! -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:45, 4 December 2009 (UTC) George Formby, Sr.Picture size: thank you so much! I'll try to remember the process. -- Tim riley (talk) 13:49, 6 December 2009 (UTC) High School MusicalI mentioned this in the Musical theatre article a little lower than where the new editor had suggested it. Would you take a look and see if you agree that it belongs there? My brain is a little fuzzy today. Thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 02:22, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
Maybe it was also then a TV series? I'm not at all sure.... ?? Well, there's this: High School Musical: Get in the Picture.... -- Ssilvers (talk) 16:51, 12 December 2009 (UTC) end |
