Can we put a "bot" on Jason Gould's entry to immediately reverse any allegations that he is HIV positive?Greetings. There are persistent rumors that Jason Gould (Barbra Streisand's son) is HIV positive. These allegations periodically turn up in Mr. Gould's Wikipedia entry. These are sourced with not-so-reliable websites from the UK. I just reverted one. Is it possible to set up a bot on Jason Gould's Wiki article that would immediately revert any future such entries? As a Wiki policy for a Biography of a Living Person, I think this is important. To the best of my knowledge, Jason Gould has never acknowledged that he is HIV positive. Even if the BLP policy does not specifically address that, I believe it is common sense and a matter of basic human decency. Having an entry like that in Wikipedia would be irresponsible and potentially libelous. Barbra Streisand has the clout and wealth to take legal action, and this would bring about very negative publicity for Wikipedia. I love Wikipedia, and I want to protect its reputation. Comments? Thank you very much. LA Movie Buff (talk) 17:28, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
You might ask at Wikipedia:Bot requests if someone would be willing to do this. You will surely get more feedback from folks who are more familiar with bot policies and issues about whether and how to do this with a bot. Tim Pierce (talk) 17:55, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Your article for the David Carradine film "Thunder and Lightning" misidentifies the year of release as 1981 - see Thunder and Lightning (1981 film). I want to create "Film Historians"
How do I create a new category? I want to create "Film Historians". I can think of many existing Wikipedia entries to add to this category, including an article I created, Ronald Haver. Others would include: Many film journalists, biographers, critics, writers, etc., can also fit into this category, such as Roger Ebert, Peter Bogdanovich, Robert Osborne, etc. and other renowned celebrity biographers. There are some more articles that I may write in the future about authors who would fit in this category, including Cobbett Steinberg and Rudy Behlmer. Thanks! JGKlein (talk) 22:13, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
How do I nominate an article for deletion based on lack of notability, or suspected prank entry?{{helpme}} How do I nominate an article for deletion based on lack of notability, suspected prank entry or someone's practice entry which should have been done in the Wikipedia sandbox? I find no outside references of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_D._L._Williams as an actor, writer, or director. If it is a real person, this article needs references, because it is very vague. The reason I think it might be a prank is that it says about an unknown person and him: "Their work would later be described as Quentin Tarantino meets the Coen brothers." This photo may be of historical interest to either New Amsterdam Theatre or 42nd Street (Manhattan). How do I upload it for others to look at without publishing it to Wikipedia? I would like other people to look at it and evaluate its value to Wikipedia. I took the picture, so there would be no problem with copyright. I know the exact month and year of the photo, January 1985. On the marquee of the closed theater is an advertisement to see George Hearn in La Cage aux Folles at the Palace Theater. Thanks! Is there a way to easily identify orphan Wikipedia articles so that I can help link them to others?
Hello. I ♥ Wikipedia. Is there a way to easily identify orphan Wikipedia articles so that I can help link them to others and improve Wikipedia? Perhaps create a category for them? I am knowledgeable about the performing arts, and I can help link orphan articles about actors or actresses to other Wikipedia articles. Also, occasionally orphan articles are pranks, and I have reported one to Wikipedia, and it was immediately deleted. I was proud of that. Thanks. JGKlein (talk) 17:19, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

How do I add a "redirect" to the American Airlines Theatre with a different spelling of the word "Theater", as in its original name, the "Selwyn Theater"? I first tried typing in "Selwyn Theater" but got a dead end. But I typed in "Selwyn Theatre" (ending of second word spelled "re" instead of "er"), and American Airlines Theatre easily came up. For that matter, for any theater listing in Wikipedia, how do I add a redirect with both spellings of "Theatre" and "Theater"? Both are commonly used. Thanks! I ♥ Wikipedia. Hello, I propose a change in a redirect for Sunset Towers to Sunset Tower instead of to an article about a novel, The Westing Game. Even though the official name of of the building is Sunset Tower (singular), we here in Los Angeles often refer to it colloquially as "Sunset Towers". If someone types "Sunset Towers" into the Wikipedia search engine, they currently get a redirect for The Westing Game. As such, someone without knowledge of Los Angeles would certainly have difficulty locating the Wikipedia article for Sunset Tower. Is it OK if I change the redirect for Sunset Towers to Sunset Tower? I think a redirect to the Wikipedia article about the building is more important than the novel. In other words, do I have permission to do this without getting my hands slapped? :) Thanks! Hi-I have one question, you added back the ext. link for imdb. On the Wikipedia:External links#References and citation page, it says that if the ext. link is used as a reference, it shouldn't be listed twice, so I was just following the guideline. Don't you think listing it as a ref. is ample, and not duplicating it in ext. links? You must not copy and paste text from sources you find on the web into articles as you did in the article Portsmouth General Hospital (Virginia). I have removed the infringing text, but the material you copied is subject to copyright, as is almost everything on the web, and when creating or expanding articles, you should completely rewrite the information from the source using your own words. By the way, I am confused as to what you mean by "English Wikipedia". English language or English country? Specifically, what do you mean? I don't understand. Thanks. Entertainment Buff (talk) 07:06, 21 February 2024 (UTC) Movie "The Dancing Clown"This article's only two sources are sources that, when I examined them in Google Books, mentioned nothing about any sort of dancing clown. Creator and primary editor of this article attempted to create numerous hoax articles in the past and add false information to articles. I could find absolutely nothing about this movie when I did an Internet search. Based on all this, I am led to believe that this article is a hoax and that this film is nonexistent. Improving "Ross Elliott"Hello @Entertainment Buff. I am interested in improving the article on the actor Ross Elliott. I notice you tried the other day to link to the article on him at Find a Grave, which another editor disapproved. But that entry did have a lot of information that might usefully be added to the Wikipedia article, if reliable sources could be located. I have not had much luck at that. Could you take a look at the entry I just put on talk: Ross Elliott and let me know if you can help? PDGPA (talk) 01:05, 27 June 2024 (UTC) |
