Would you agree that this edit should be reverted? They removed referenced info, about how he makes some of his money and his first wife, etc. Perhaps some changes could be kept. I have a hunch that they may have a close connection.Zigzig20s (talk) 15:50, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
I did a bold edit and restored the content. I hope this does not escalate. I think you once said it was on your watchlist and that you'd be happy to help.Zigzig20s (talk) 10:35, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

Started Drummond. He's a bit of a mystery man, possibly a billionaire. I won't stop you if you suddenly feel like helping!Zigzig20s (talk) 20:09, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Only $20 million to go - he could be a billionaire any day now. You've done well and found out quite a lot about him. The more we write about them, the more it appears that most billionaires want to keep as low a profile as possible. Relentless publicity seekers like Richard Branson and Donald Trump are atypical. Edwardx (talk) 22:37, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
In 2013, Bloomberg were saying, "If that’s correct, Garry Neil is a billionaire". Forbes currently say $980 million. I think we need a WP:RS to say that he actually is a billionaire, but that might be very soon... Edwardx (talk) 15:07, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
Baptists from Alabama...I wonder if they fund anti-gay causes. There is basically no investigative journalism about homophobia in the Southern US despite their global reach.Zigzig20s (talk) 23:11, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Investigative journalism about anything that matters is in peril everywhere - it costs money and no one wants to pay for news. Paid for through ads I hear people say, but who is going to pay to advertise alongside these critiques? Much cheaper to "investigate" some celebrity's latest diet and much easier to get paid ads to go next to it. Edwardx (talk) 23:19, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
All under KGC. I hope this makes sense. Could you use these when uploading? If you disagree, I suggest we fight a duel at KGC using antique firearms and the loser be buried in the next available plot and a suitable grave stone designed. Philafrenzy (talk) 21:06, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
Yes it does. Commons is increasingly replicating Wikipedia, in some cases it is more developed. I did Trent Park Cemetery in both, which you may know. It is a small lawn type with no monuments. No notable (by our criteria) people seen yet. Philafrenzy (talk) 13:06, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
Don't think I've ever been a Goth. And I never knew it was a cruising ground - have to take your word for that. But, I have spent a lot of time at Brompton Cemetery. Edwardx (talk) 14:25, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
It's at the top of two pages that get around 500 visits per day so it must be displayed the same amount. Granted some people click away before the page loads or are bots etc, but over a year if it stays there it will get 182,500 views. Philafrenzy (talk) 20:19, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
I see what you're getting at. I had somehow thought you meant hits on the Commons page itself - 500 there would be very impressive. Your analysis is rather more appropriate. Edwardx (talk) 15:48, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
That's what it's known for in some circles...We don't wear cowboy boots lol. The company sponsors the polo team... Btw I removed the tags: I don't see any advertising and the references are third-party...Zigzig20s (talk) 21:59, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. I will try to improve his parents's pages. I am still working on the Drummonds and the Stephenses though. I am wondering if any of them descend from the "Southern aristocracy." The Drummonds might do (Heman Edward Drummond's grandfather was a "landowner"...). They probably fund some of those pro-coal lectures I have been attending for years. God bless them.Zigzig20s (talk) 17:35, 14 July 2015 (UTC)
The quality of the silver plate was distorted by the thought waves emanating from my bonce. We've snatched 500 bodies and stuffed them into the Kensal Green cat. Well done, all! Gareth E Kegg (talk) 23:46, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
There is too much camera snobbery. For Wikipedia that quality is more than adequate. Alas, The Flora is not listed and I can't find enough to easily start an article about it. Edwardx (talk) 08:05, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Perhaps The Flora is a bit down at heal now, but the design is quite fancy. Classic Victorian pub. I am sure we could work something up. Philafrenzy (talk) 10:26, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
I have many 1000s of photos that I've done nothing with. Luckily we now have WLM every September to at least encourage us to upload any of listed buildings. Edwardx (talk) 17:12, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
I am determined to slay this dragon before it slays me. On the plus side I have added several "brand" type photos to articles that previously had none. Philafrenzy (talk) 17:18, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
Good luck - I think I gave in to the dragons long ago. Photographing my local clone high street has led to several new articles (the name Cashino does amuse me, even though such places are a blot on our shopping areas) and photographs for others. It's worrying how even shops/restaurants that I thought were independents have turned out to be chain members. Edwardx (talk) 17:39, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
I'm tyred and exhausted of seeing this sort of thing happen to our historic pubs. People should be in there drinking themselves slowly to death. Anyway, great to see someone else starting pub articles. Edwardx (talk) 14:05, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
We need to put a brake on the clutch of pub conversions. At least this one wasn't gentrification. I think it probably happened because people did stop drinking there. Perhaps their MOT ran out. Philafrenzy (talk) 16:11, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
Who would choose driving over drinking when you can do both? If only the drivers in The Green Man had remembered that it would probably still be open. There was room for a large car park at the back. It could even have been Britain's first drive-thru pub. Philafrenzy (talk) 23:09, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Kim Beom-soo a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Kim Bum-soo (businessman) Sawol (talk) 09:35, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
Too many editors are more interested in making a point or winning an argument than adding useful content. From my extensive experience of Chinese restaurants (no dog, I'm not barking), it looks like a typical meat dish to me - meat with sauce and some veg on a plate. Apart from the tail, I'd guess the presentation of dog meat is unlikely to differ much from beef, pork, chicken, etc. Edwardx (talk) 09:55, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
That was roughly my argument.
Amusingly, I was in front of an imposing building with large gates yesterday, resigned to getting no usable picture, when as I approached the gates automatically opened, enabling me to get a good shot (without trespassing). My next plan is to buzz myself into the homes of celebrities by posing as a postman (not really). Philafrenzy (talk) 10:03, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
The political high vis vest has its roots in Michael Heseltine riding around in a tank in a camouflage jacket to make out he was a dynamic defence secretary I think. There really isn't any need for anything other than a baseball cap and a rucksack in my opinion. I have never had the slightest problem just pointing and shooting with a compact camera. If you have a huge camera and a tripod you may need more props. Philafrenzy (talk) 11:41, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
Agreed that in most cases there would be no real benefit. It largely comes down to how normative taking photos is in a particular scenario. For example, exterior shots of most buildings is unproblematic. Interior shots of pubs like The Salisbury, Covent Garden is fine. However, interiors of untouristed pubs in rougher areas can be trickier. Of course, one might argue that bigger cameras and hi viz tabards might only make things worse. Perhaps it would be a good issue for discussion at a future meet-up. Hard to imagine that this has not been considered before. Edwardx (talk) 12:09, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
The high vis jacket in this context would be a form of disguise since we are not protecting ourselves from danger (the real purpose of the jacket) and why would we need a disguise if we are not intruding? My baseball cap and rucksack are not a disguise because that is what I have anyway when I am not wearing a suit. Philafrenzy (talk) 12:17, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
Could we split the Fanjul brothers into separate pages about specific individuals pls? Someone told me today that one of them has a year-round suite at the Ritz right here in London.--Zigzig20s (talk) 20:59, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
Do you think we should create two userpages to work from? I find it more confusing when there is a messy article to start with.Zigzig20s (talk) 22:41, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
If it was me, I'd start a new page for each person, and copy into each whatever stuff you want to keep, plus any new stuff you want to add. Once that is all done, then think about whether you want to leave the original article, trim it dramatically or redirect it to the most notable individual. Edwardx (talk) 08:50, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
I do find the idea of calling a prison a "correctional facility" amusing, but no great interest beyond that. Edwardx (talk) 09:26, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
I think the Frists may be large shareholders, although perhaps it was just Jack C. Massey (and now his daughter supposedly?). If that is the case, their social status may be coming to an end as Obama wants to free most prisoners apparently. Btw, do you think Patricia C. Frist is a billionaire?Zigzig20s (talk) 11:52, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
She might be a billionaire. Most heirs would rather we didn't know. Yes, what about all those people who have invested their hard earned cash in the prison industry - Obama just doesn't care. Edwardx (talk) 11:28, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
In this case, she is married to one...I am not sure who her parents, the Champions, were. I think BHO may be trying to undercut our GOP donorbase. He is smarter than you might think (though not quite as smart as GWB).Zigzig20s (talk) 01:08, 26 July 2015 (UTC)
Wikipedia library Newspapers.com renewal
Your free one-year account with Newspapers.com will end on August 7 2015. Newspapers.com has offered to extend existing accounts by another year. If you wish to keep your account until August 7 2016, please add your name to the Account Renewal list here. I'll let Newspapers.com customer support know, and they will extend your subscription. If you don't want to keep your account for another year, you don't have to do anything. Your account will expire unless I hear from you that you want to keep it. All the best, HazelAB (talk) 15:07, 26 July 2015 (UTC)
Hi there. Last week you responded to a note I posted on the Hansjörg WyssTalk page requesting edits to the Early career section. I just wanted to see if you got my response about my COI and also if you might be able to take a look at what I'm proposing? Thanks! Heatherer (talk) 15:24, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Indeed, there is no need to second guess them in my opinion. Thank you for finding out what Cawnpore is called now.
See Graves at New Southgate Cemetery on Commons for ways of grouping slabs of stone to make them more human. Graves of sisters (brothers to come), graves by faith, graves of children etc. The last particularly poignant. Philafrenzy (talk) 11:57, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
They are in addition to "graves at", otherwise you just end up with a massive category of slabs of undifferentiated stone. There is article potential too when the material is grouped in this way for people not separately notable. Military graves at X, Greek Orthodox burials in London, etc. Philafrenzy (talk) 13:38, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I definitely need to explore this more structured approach the next time I do some cemetery stuff. Edwardx (talk) 21:16, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Hi. Can you please add this dude's nationality? I can't add the correct WP and reqphoto otherwise. I think that would really help. You did this on a couple of recently created stubs--I assume you have created them in a rush and will go back and expand them a bit. Thanks.Zigzig20s (talk) 09:22, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
On 1 August 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Calais jungle, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that thousands of people are living in a jungle in Calais, France? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Calais jungle. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
I don't really understand why Chelsea is a thing--isn't it out of the way? Nice townhouses I suppose, but one may find similar houses in Mayfair surely? Though St George's Hill would be far worse (but at least you get a bit more land and a private golf course). Perhaps it is to avoid tourists.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:13, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
I can recommend signing up to My John Lewis. Every so often you get a voucher for free coffee and cake, and the view from the top floor cafe at Peter Jones in Sloane Square is nice. Edwardx (talk) 09:59, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
Perhaps. Just created Yishai Schlissel, I hope he gets a strong article in the next few days so that he is not released early ever again. I am off to bed now though--my day in Mayfair was exhausting!Zigzig20s (talk) 20:38, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
I've done a little work on that article. Trying to find all of those secret private members clubs can be exhausting. Edwardx (talk) 21:19, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Appreciate it if you are able to watch this to revert vandalism. I'll be out of the house all day again (not primarily in Mayfair).Zigzig20s (talk) 08:50, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
Yes, although the word 'homophobia' has been redacted and there is now drama over zionist terms, instead of real article expansion...I hope everyone stays safe in Brighton today.Zigzig20s (talk) 09:25, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
I think you should have let the West Bank thing go. I'm fine with something like "West Bank/Judea and Samaria", but there are some issues here that just waste valuable time and sap one's enthusiasm for creating new content. Edwardx (talk) 09:55, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
I did eventually. I am a little discouraged by what's happening to Barbara tbh. I'm also on a new fitness regime, so I am not allowed to spend as much time indoors.Zigzig20s (talk) 13:22, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
It's on her late husband's page though. We'd probably have to find more. Btw, female philanthropy can be a form of feminist activism... Women don't all have to be working.Zigzig20s (talk) 22:56, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
Agreed - more needed. Otherwise, it will just end up as a redirect, as others will argue that she is just giving away her husband's money. Edwardx (talk) 10:55, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
I saw that story. Yes, wouldn't it be nice to be more informed about all those buildings as we stroll around London? A lot of great research has been done about Brighton, but not London. Most listed buildings in my borough don't even have a page.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:52, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
Yes, life is often simpler if one just just sticks to a basic web search using a certain well-known search engine. Been filling in some DOBs and middle names with Companies House beta search. Plus just fixing vandalism and well-intentioned edits to articles I started or am watching creates enough editing, especially when there is real work to do. Edwardx (talk) 23:39, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
Reminds me of the old Max Miller joke from the war (before my time too). A girl, sitting on a man's lap in a packed train and reaching a blacked-out station, asks: "Is this Cockfosters?", to which he replies, "I don't know, lady, does it matter?" Edwardx (talk) 00:03, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
Saw an excellent analysis of Miller's comedy style on one of those heroes of comedy programmes that traced it back to his canvassing for punters for a show at the seaside. Philafrenzy (talk) 00:19, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
Hence my discussion of the comedy style of British comedians and their ill fitting demob suits, sadly truncated by lack of reliable sources. I was hoping to work in Tommy Cooper somewhere. Philafrenzy (talk) 12:57, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Richard Bevan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Samuel Tarling (talk) 10:11, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Richard Bevan until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Samuel Tarling (talk) 10:22, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
I'm very sorry to have to say this, but from your actions it seems reasonable to infer that you're more interested in winning an argument than trying to improve an encyclopaedia. See WP:POINT. Edwardx (talk) 13:11, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
"Disruptive editing is a pattern of editing that may extend over a long time or many articles". Where is the pattern please? And where in WP policy does it state that I can't remove a speedy tag? Edwardx (talk) 10:23, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
"The creator of a page may not remove a speedy deletion tag from it. Only an editor who is not the creator of a page may do so. A creator who disagrees with the speedy deletion should instead click on the Contest this speedy deletion button which appears inside of the speedy deletion tag." as clearly explained at WP:SPEEDY. Samuel Tarling (talk) 10:26, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
Almost forgotten - until now. A spin off from Hadley articles. I don't think the current architecture of East Barnet is an improvement. Philafrenzy (talk) 23:30, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
I shall get back to the Bevans very soon and see what info and article usage can be extracted from those extra images. I'm temporarily distracted by pubs, pubcos and private equity... Edwardx (talk) 18:34, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Richard Bevan (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion.
Primefac (talk) 08:13, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
I have been thinking of going for walks in specific neighbourhoods and taking pictures of specific historic buildings, etc., instead of spending all my time in Hyde Park...but it doesn't help that no one has created a list of all listed buildings in central London.Zigzig20s (talk) 11:39, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
Go to Historic England Map Search, enter a postcode, zoom in. What I sometimes do is print out a map or two, then highlight what needs to be photographed and/or have an article created. And no one is stopping you from creating such a list... As for Petersham, enter TW10 7AD and zoom in. Or stalk my contributions over the next few days! And next door Richmond around the green and by the river, or Richmond Park is always a good day out. Edwardx (talk) 12:59, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
Oh yes. I need to go back to the Ham Polo Club in Richmond...
Cooper's mother's maiden name was Carlton. Hilary Carlton and Allen Cooper married in Willesden district in 1964. A Marcus S. Cooper married Katie A. Lucas in Westminster district in 1998. Whether these are the right Coopers I couldn't say. I saw no marriage announcements in The Times or The Telegraph. Philafrenzy (talk) 23:57, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
I've struggled to find anything on the internet about his origins, education or personal life. Even with those names, nothing! Edwardx (talk) 00:25, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
I agree. There is also a property connection to Beno Salem, who is connected to Freddy Salem. Small world as you say. I suspect that Cooper is the son of Jewish migrants to this country and may even have been educated abroad, but that is pure speculation. It will all come out when he gives an interview some time. Philafrenzy (talk) 22:23, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
Hard to keep up, isn't it? Amusing how the family feud could lead to trouble with the taxman. Anyway, I've added a bit to Freddy. I think Mark Salem of Mount Capital is his son, but can't find anything definite. The feud should hopefully genearte more WP:RS stuff. Edwardx (talk) 13:17, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
Are you still intending to put this forward? After consulting with a more experienced reviewer, I have no reason to nitpick over nomination datestamp. The page needs a tiny bit of work to get it up to a start class and a few minor edits to get it past close paraphrasing. BusterD (talk) 12:48, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
Interesting. I will try to find time to explore. You could always try an email to the Editor. Wonder what their excuse will be? Edwardx (talk) 13:11, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
Added some more. His paternal grandfather (managing partner of a big NYC law firm) and grandmother (NYT obit) are notable, at least. Edwardx (talk) 12:25, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
You haven't stopped by yet, and really need to give this your immediate attention if you wish the nomination to proceed. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:47, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
