Archive of my talk page = Archive1 (October 2005 - March 2006) WelcomeWelcome! Hello ERcheck/Archive 1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Friday (talk) 05:02, 20 October 2005 (UTC) Thanks for cleaning up this article. I see you also weighed in on the Afd, that's great. I seriously doubt the article is in much danger of being deleted now. Friday (talk) 05:24, 20 October 2005 (UTC) Got your message - nice work expanding that one. For future reference, if you're interested, there's a list of stub types at WP:WSS/ST which is handy to know about if you end up labelling many stubs. It's also a good way to find topical stubs that need expanding. Even if you just use the {{stub}} template on an article, it'll get sorted pretty quickly by one of us stub-sorters, so don't worry about stub types if you don't want to. At any rate, welcome to Wikipedia! GTBacchus 00:12, 23 October 2005 (UTC) Nice work creating this! It is great to finally have an article for them, it's been hovering near the top of my 'to-do' list for a long time. :) I'm not sure where you live, but if it's in Australia you might like to check out some of these links: The Australia Wikiportal, Australian Wikipedians' Notice Board, Australian Collaboration of the Fortnight, New Australian Articles and Australian stub articles. User:Chuq also works on quite a few Aus music articles, so feel free to jump into his to-do list here. And finally, if you live in Melbourne, the Wikipedia:WikiProject Melbourne could be useful, and of course there are similar ones for the other cities. cheers. pfctdayelise 16:33, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
Question on Requesting Topics/CategoriesIn regards to your question, I wasn't overly familiar with this off the top of my head. But, I looked at the page in question, and it does look like you'd be OK to just go to Wikipedia:Requested_articles/Sports and add appropriate sections. These aren't really "Categories" in the sense of Wikipedia:Categories, so they're not as tricky to deal with. Hope this helps! Friday (talk) 17:56, 24 October 2005 (UTC) signingPlease be sure to sign your comments to talk pages with four tildes, as so: ~~~~. Best regards, Ëvilphoenix Burn! 04:46, 26 October 2005 (UTC) Sun/the SunI cannot open the BBC link, it was banned by the government. What if Earth and Moon, if upper case first letter, should the word "the" be added? Yaohua2000 20:46, 30 October 2005 (UTC) Please check this out: House_Of_Maqbool, Tahir_Sohail Looks like someone really wants to list people involved with United Detergents. Haven't afd'ed it , as I wanted to hear what you think first, as you are more familiar with the previous attempts. Bjelleklang - talk 21:25, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
Hoax articleIf you are fairly sure the article is a hoax (and it's best to do a little checking if you can) then nominate at WP:AfD - you will find the instructions at the bottom of that page. If you have any difficulties, let me know. --Doc (?) 23:17, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
STILL REFUSES TO SAY SORRYthat article has already gone through VfD and was deleted. Xtra 00:17, 7 November 2005 (UTC) From Lestatbrow (moved from User page to discussion page)Hi, isn't it alright if I get the Band's permission?? or would we have to write a brand new one for them?? (from 18:07, 7 November 2005 Lestatbrow) Thanks for your comments. I meant to leave the image in a taxobox ! Shyamal 03:57, 10 November 2005 (UTC) Houston ISDWhat's to clean up about it? WhisperToMe 23:04, 12 November 2005 (UTC) Oh, in that case.. that's what "stub" would be for. Cleanup is for an article that is messy or disorganized. WhisperToMe 23:18, 12 November 2005 (UTC) Kaci BrownThanks for your help on the Kaci Brown page. OperativePhrase 05:03, 13 November 2005 (UTC) Alana DavisDo you know anything about Alana Davis it seems she doesn't have an article. OperativePhrase 05:26, 13 November 2005 (UTC) Thanks :) OperativePhrase 05:36, 13 November 2005 (UTC) Speedy tagsERcheck, you have been marking many articles for speedy-deletion. Quite a few of those do not qualify for speedy deletion under WP:CSD. Please familiarize yourself with this policy so that admins can rely on your input more effectively. Thank you! Owen× ☎ 02:58, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
Yep, I see your point, I'll delete it. Enochlau 07:47, 4 December 2005 (UTC) killing timeYou are correct - I confused Killing Time with a previous vandal. I've reinstated it to List of songs about suicide. My apologies. - DavidWBrooks 18:27, 4 December 2005 (UTC) I am quite surprised that you nominated it for speedy delete. What's wrong with a harmless redirect? 4 of the 8 votes were for redirect, thus meaning that there was a precedent for it. The original article was talking about three quarter pants, and the rewrite listed it explicitly. Its not a candidate for speedy deletion if the content is different to the original, as in this case. I was quite surprised to see you put this up for speedy deletion. At worst, its a very picky technicality. I really don't see what the harm is in putting a redirect in, even if only a small proportion of people use it as an alias for 3/4 pants. Some people do. Or are we running out of space on the servers now? Zordrac (talk) Wishy Washy Darwikinian Eventualist 04:30, 14 December 2005 (UTC) No. As I said before, the conclusion was that of Redirect. 4/8 said redirect, which was the most popular choice. Whilst the closer I suppose used their discretion to delete, it had already been agreed to redirect. Now I suppose I am expected to go through deletion review over this petty technicality. Zordrac (talk) Wishy Washy Darwikinian Eventualist 11:35, 14 December 2005 (UTC) You're welcome......others have done the same for me in the past, so I'm glad to have been able to do the same for another editor! CLW 23:54, 19 December 2005 (UTC) AFDThey're more or less the same thing, so yeah. Thanks for reminding me. I didn't see any of them linking there, so I figured they were already on other pages and didn't check. karmafist 04:45, 22 December 2005 (UTC) RE: Thanks for improving my warnings...If you want to get the rest of them working you can.... The main thing is changing your nick to ~~~~ and inserting ~~~ --Adam1213 Talk + 23:41, 22 December 2005 (UTC) REI got an admin to move it. The trick is as I said above go to Special:Preferences nickname should be: ~~~~ enable raw signatures and insert ~~~ where you want ~~~~ to be --Adam1213 Talk + 00:47, 23 December 2005 (UTC) You need to try that trick + User talk:Adam1213/warn - it will now show you what has and what has not been made --Adam1213 Talk + 01:09, 23 December 2005 (UTC) Thank youThank you for working on my warner. --Adam1213 Talk + 01:35, 23 December 2005 (UTC) Thank youThanks for suggestion Endomion had the suggestion of putting it on Election_promise which I will do. CategorizationHi, you don't need to add articles to categories and their subcategories. For example, if someone is a general in the Marine Corps, they should only be categorized in Category:U.S. Marine Corps generals, not also Category:U.S. Marine Corps officers and/or Category:U.S. Marines. So you might have noticed me removing a lot of redundant categories. See WP:CG. Nice work on all the USMC articles, by the way. —Kenyon (t·c) 21:49, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
It's about time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It's about time you finally created a "real" user page. (Very nice quote, great selection...I love it.) Wikipedia is nice enough to give you a free forum and it's nice you finally decided to show some gratitude!!! : ) YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work, ERcheck!!!! 172.128.93.5 03:01, 30 December 2005 (UTC) USMC catsIt is about 3AM my time and I am crapped out and can hardly keep my eyes open. I was wondering if you could help add some Categories to HMM-262 & HMLA-367. I see you have been editing USMC pages so I thought I'd ask. If not I'll try and get them later. Thanks. Like the revert to 1MAW by the way. Much cleaner.--Looper5920 16:22, 30 December 2005 (UTC) Another favor. Take a look at the HMLA section of List of United States Marine Corps aircraft squadrons. I was messing around with it and added the gallery. Do you think it is worth keeping and changing rest of list or just go back to the old way? --Looper5920 23:43, 30 December 2005 (UTC) How the hell can Globalsecurity.com protect use of USMC images when all they are doing is cutting and pasting from the USMC webpages? That includes the histories as well. Also, I went back and tagged all of my USMC images with the categories you mentioned.--Looper5920 01:00, 31 December 2005 (UTC) Off the top of my head no I don't know of an official USMC site that has all of them. Best bet will be to do a Google image search and just use the one that pop up on Government pages but I say F-it. I'm using the ones on This guy because they are good quality and no matter what they say they {the patches] are the work of the US Gov and are open to public domain. Also, I am doing the voodoo to HMH-363 right now. SHould have her up and running and looking a hell of alot better in a few minutes.--Looper5920 01:33, 31 December 2005 (UTC) It's NOT vandalism. It's true. Maybe you should drive through there before assuming that it is vandalism. It smells that way even with the car windows closed and the air conditioning off. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kalmia (talk • contribs) Image:Hagee in MARPAT with Marine.jpgIt is done! Now all you have to do is replace the old image with this one: "Image:Hagee in MARPAT with Marine.jpg" I hope that this has solved the problem. Semper Fi Tony the Marine 17:25, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
CornI reverted your edit to the sunwise article, because it clearly refers to wheat. We don't use "corn" to refer to maize, except in phrases such as "sweet corn", or "corn on the cob". It certainly hasn't been grown here until well into the post-War period, and is still not a major crop thanks to our climate. --MacRusgail 14:39, 19 January 2006 (UTC) Apple Springs, Texasummmm....it was in a texas monthly magazine. i have it right here; i am reading it right now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gigem12 (talk • contribs) @02:34 on 2/6/2006. no, i'm sorry. I clipped the article out of the magazine. i know for a fact it was in Texas monthly and it was in 2001. that's all i know. i'm really sorry. but believe you me i wouldn't lie. a lie is a sin and hell is hot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gigem12 (talk • contribs) @02:57 on 2/6/2006. yeah that sounds right. thank you!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gigem12 (talk • contribs) @03:14 on 2/6/2006.

i meant to do that....... Emily 01:00, 8 February 2006 (UTC) [Teenage Wildlife]Hi ERcheck, you've recently voted Teenage wildlife forum for deletion, can I draw your attention to the following links -
Could you change your vote to keep? Many Thanks —Fegchanges 02:09, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
My apologiesYou're right, it was somehow lame to add those AWOL marines links. Sorry. Im not a vandal but a contributor, I hope this is evident from my contributions to other articles. 85.82.130.124 19:13, 8 February 2006 (UTC) Looking for helpIn the past 24 hours, I've been experiencing some strange behavior from Wikipedia. Time limit for Speedy deletions under Category A8Category A8 of [[Wikipedia:Candidates for Speedy Deletion provides: An article that is a blatant copyright infringement and meets these parameters: * Material is unquestionably copied from the website of a commercial content provider (e.g. encyclopedia, news service) and; * The article and its entire history contains only copyright violation material, excluding tags, templates, and minor edits and; * Uploader makes no assertion of permission or fair use, and none seems likely and; * The material is identified within 48 hours of upload and is almost or totally un-wikified (to diminish mirror problem). As user Keiphers had uploaded it on 18 January 2005, it had passed the time limit so I placed it as a copyvio as per normal process. The commercial content aspect was doubtful too. Capitalistroadster 16:49, 25 February 2006 (UTC) Just opened a USMC Portal and could use some help if you have the chance. Thanks in advance. --Looper5920 13:19, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Deer Park and San Jacinto CollegeHi, thanks so much for checking that and making the necessary fixes! Mikker ... 21:18, 18 March 2006 (UTC) USMC specific stubI have been thinking about proposing a {{US-mil-usmc-stub}}. I think it would be a great way to consolidate all of the things that need to be done. Also, the {{US-Mil Stub}} is just to broad and has hundreds of articles. Just wanted to run it by you to and get your thoughts. ALso thanks for doing the 1/7 article. Finally got me off my ass to do the rest of 7th Marines.--Looper5920 01:50, 19 March 2006 (UTC) Recent eventsWith the recent events that occured involving 3rd Battalion 1st Marines just wanted to ask if you could watch that page and the Wiki news, recent events and a few Iraq pages to make sure these guys get a fair shake as the Anti-American crowd is sure to eat this up. Thanks --Looper5920 22:03, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

AFDI am thinking of putting Erlene Thomas up for AFD. There is nothing in that bio I feel warrants an article here. If anything I believe it was written by the individual or someone that knows her. Just wanted to get your thoughts before I nominated it.--Looper5920 01:00, 30 March 2006 (UTC) |
